It is an honor to introduce from Finland, Vilma Arraste – International Model, Beauty Queen, Miss Plus-size Perfect 2023, Miss Beauty Universal Finland. Vilma is my first guest from Finland and she gives me a fabulous interview and we meet her now.
Welcome Vilma Arraste!!!
1.- Vilma, you were born in Finland, What do you like about your hometown in Finland?
I like how diverse my hometown Lahti is. We have both a more modern and an older area, a lively city and peaceful nature.
2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?
My hobbies include dancing and singing. Also, I am a TFCD model.
My friends and family bring me joy. I love spending time with them and wish I could do more of it.
3.- International Model, Beauty Queen, Miss Plus-size Perfect 2023, Miss Beauty Universal Finland – When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
Officially I started modeling at the suggestion of a friend. She organized bikini shoots for plus-size women and asked me to join. At first I was nervous about this, but I fell in love with being a model and it started from there. Before this, I had been in front of my sister’s camera a few times.
Going to beauty pageants was a very spontaneous idea. I had been following the Miss Plussize Jyväskylä competition (currently Miss Plussize Finland) for a few years and one evening I noticed that the application for the competition is open. on a whim, I then applied and made it to the semi-final day. From there I went to the finals.
The current feeling for all this is very unreal. It’s wonderful to be recognized for one’s own work and for something that one has put a lot of effort into and is passionate about. Yet it is still very hard to believe all this.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Vilma each activity carried out as a person and model?
Certainly my very odd personality. I’m not very elegant by any means, although it may seem that way on social media. I approach things with a firm grip, and I don’t embellish.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be a model?
The right attitude. It can get you very far as a model.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
I’m aware now. Several younger people have messaged me and told me how they have followed my journey and want to be able to do the same someday. This is actually something that I have only recently started to think about. At first, I did this just for myself. Now that I know how much people follow me, I have realized that I need to do this more for others ALSO. To be an example and give courage and opportunities.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
Well, of course, nervousness was the biggest feeling, for both of them. At the same time, I was also excited when I got to try something new.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media has a lot of power and visibility, especially among young people. It has its pros and cons. With it, you can set an example for many things, guide and enlighten people about things and support different things. But at the same time, you should remember that everything is not really as shown on social media.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I really like chatting with people and many of them send me messages through my social media. Instagram is my personal favorite. It makes it easy to communicate with people, it can be used as a portfolio and there you can follow people’s lives.
I would also love to meet my followers and fans face to face.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
Dare to be yourself and follow your dreams regardless of what others think. Daring to do things will get you far. It’s okay if it scares you, but you shouldn’t let it stop you from trying.
And parents, support the child. Encourage, praise and help if necessary. If you don’t support your children now, it will backfire on you in the future.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
It’s okay to be different from everyone else. You’re amazing even if you don’t fit in.
12.- Vilma, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles?How did you overcome obstacles?
Being a model has not always been easy. For a long time, I was very insecure about my own appearance, especially when many people refused to take pictures of me because of my size. However, my self-confidence grew little by little and nowadays I don’t even care if someone sees my size as a problem. It’s your loss. I have absolutely wonderful photographers who know what they are doing, with whom I have been able to work and I hope to be able to in the future as well.
13.- Are you actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
I’m not officially an actress, but it would be nice to be able to do that too. I have performed a lot, but they have been small performances either at school, work or hobbies.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
The status of women should be raised, because equality applies to everyone. There are still many women around the world who are still trying to be lifted from a bad position. As long as we remember that men and women should be equal. We can’t forget men completely in our efforts to improve the status of women.
15.- Vilma, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My children. Even if the days are not easy, I try my best for them. Also, my friends. Especially my best friend. She is one of the most important people in the whole world to me. She has supported me in both my good and bad moments. I hope she stays by my side always.
16.- Vilma, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from Finland?
I like traveling a lot and would like to do more of it. I have been to Sweden, Estonia, Cran Canaria and Greece. I also have a one-week trip to Portugal coming up in July and a beauty pageant trip to Ecuador in August. I would really like to get to the Caribbean or Hawaii someday.
For those traveling to Finland, I highly recommend Lapland/Northern Finland. There are wonderful landscapes and many things that cannot be found elsewhere. And the northern lights and the starry sky at night.
