1.- Gitali, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
Hello, I was born and raised in the small town of BA in FIJI. Ba is the soccer-crazy town of my country and I very much love that the most about my hometown. I then moved to Nadi, Fiji and now I live in Auckland New-Zealand but I cant wait to go back to visit my hometown.
2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
I enjoy dancing which I have been doing since I was 7, i enjoy baking and cooking and im a crazy fan of horror movies and thriller books.
I love playing badminton as well.
Being close to the sea brings me much joy I love the sand and salty water and its close to my heart and reminds me of my country.
3.- International Model, Face of Beauty International 2023 – Teen India Fiji 1st RU – Miss Tourism Fiji 2023 – World Super Model 2023 2nd RU . When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
Well my very first pageant well it was a baby show which my mum entered me in and I was 2nd ru in the johnson and johnson babyshow when I was around 15 months old.
Then my first big girl pageant whichi remember was MISS TEEN INDIA FIJI 2022 I decided to do that pageant as I was in my last year of highschool and my mum when she was of my age also did beauty pageants so I entered miss teen india fiji just for fun to see whats it like as I have seen my mum win pageants back in the 90’s.
Well I never joined pagentry to be recognized I did it just for my mom as she used to do it when she was a little girl. I have been a nerd throughout my school days so pageantry was a big leap out of my routine.
But when I won 1st ru in miss teen india fiji I came to realization of the platform I have and what all I can do with it. It’s a great way to empower and to advocate my message and story to the world.
It is pure nostalgia that I am considered as an influential women and I still have a very long way to go and do to more.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Gitali in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
I think what puts me apart from others is that I stand behind my slogan which is that beauty is in my bula smile. Ladies from generations have adorned themselves by placinga single flower in their hair by the ear and a big smile, across their face no matter how hard the times are and to me that holds and shows so much strength power and resilience.
A big bula smile and all I need is a flower to feel strong to feel beautiful.
And this is what makes me unique not just me but every girl and lady from my country FIJI.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?
PATIENCE AND COURAGE one must absolutely befriend patince and courage.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
I might not be that influential but yes I know I have encouraged many many young girls to pursue their dreams and have guided them forward. I hope I can help more girls in the future and at an international scale.
And it is my atmost honour to be able to influence young girls to chase and achieve their dreams to break boundaries and to soar high.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
I have always felt very drawn to cameras and large audience. As I mentioned before I was a big nerd and would do oratories and speeches so being on a stage felt very comfortable. When I was little id do karaoke and record videos of me singing so when I did have my first real pageant and modelling experience I felt that the stage and cameras were my best friends.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media is the leading platform of power of influence in todays era. Theres a good side to it as well as a bad and one must be very careful how they engage and make use of social media platforms.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I am active on INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK and I interact mainly with Instagram.
I am a student so I am not the best influencer or active 12 hours a day but I do my best to reply to everyone who dms me and needs my help in whatever and how ever I can help.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
Young people- you have one shot at life, your tomorrow isn’t promised but your today is so take that big leap of faith and soar god gave us all special gifts don’t hide it. Your unique . you have talent, showcase it, nuture it have fun with it.
That’s what makes you , YOU.
Parents- you need to give your kids the wings they need to fly. I myself have had very strict conservative parents yet in this growing age and era parents need to support their children and help them break free. You are your kids biggest hope so don’t let them down.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
Being patient and that your losses are actually your biggest wins. Theres always someone whose going to be bigger and better then you but that does not mean youll forever fail keep trying have faith have patince and youll succeed.
12.- Gitali, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles?How did you overcome obstacles?
There has been a lot of struggles, I come from a relatively small country where pageantry and fashion isn’t celebrated as much so it was very hard to join pageants find designers and sponsors.
I faced tremendous amounts of racist and body shaming despite being so petite I was judged on my skin colour my family wasn’t as supporting as I intented I lost all my friends I was trolled on social media so I have seen it all.
Despite all the hardship I was blessed to have my mother standing by my side she guided me through it all.
I cut out the haters as I knew this is my only chance and im so glad I believed in myself and myself only and I have succeeded inspiring hundreds of girls and ladies now.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
I actually enjoy mimicking and playing up character and id absolutely love to join the acting and entertainment industry if I get a chance . I love the entertainment industry and I support their talent.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
A women does it all they have been doing it all from ages ago
A women is a mother who nutures the young, feeds the society, leads a nations and grows the next generatiom.
A women is a warrior who doesn’t need to be seen but appreciated by all. There will be nosociety no world without WOMEN.
15.- Gitali, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My mother SHAMLI, she is my biggest motivation my reason to be happy my reason to be someone in life my reason to be a good human I love my mom and all she does for me and all. My mom is a school teacher and I admire how she loves every kid she has ever come across.
Im grateful for this life I have that im breathing and I have another day to do more good to chase my dreams and help young girls chase their dreams.
16.- Gitali, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I absolutely love travelling and the adrenaline rush that comes with it
Ive been to china hongkong Singapore Philippines and new zealand. I very much want to backpack all over Europe and Africa and id recommend people to visit fiji not because its my birthday country but
Fiji is the land of paradise where hapiness comes nautrally.
