It is an honor to introduce my first guest from Kigali – Rwanda : Charlotte Umulisa, International Model, Beauty Queen, Miss Supranational Rwanda 2022 – TOP10 Miss Warszawy 2022 – TV Host.
Charlotte currently resides in Poland, her second home, and grants me an unmissable international interview.
Welcome Charlotte Umulisa!!!
1.- Charlotte, you were born in Rwanda,What do you like about your hometown in Poland? What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?
I was born in Kigali – Rwanda I mostly love Our culture and how women are treated! I enjoy reading books, writing poems, singing and swimming:) and what brings me so much joy is helping poor people, my heart feel full when I know that there’s someone eating today because of me.
2.- What do you feel for Rwanda, its people and its culture?
Rwanda is a beautiful country of thousands hills the people are most of the time smiling which makes it special) our culture is very Unique and it’s what keeps us all close.
3.- International Model , Beauty Queen, Miss Supranational Rwanda 2022 – TOP10 Miss Warszawy 2022, When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I’ve always loved these kind of Competitions as I was a model in my whole high school but I never thought I could do it professionally but my mum and sister kept encouraging me to do it and in December 2020 I decided to join miss warszawy where I ended up making it to the top 10 and after that I started getting some offers from beauty peagents directors which is where I ended up winning miss Supranational Rwanda 2022. To me this means a lot and gives me courage to work even more because I believe this is only the beginning.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Charlotte in each activity carried out as a person and model?
Charlotte is a very positive person , enjoy spending time with people in General and she never gives up on anything easily. That’s makes me unique.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
In my point of view I believe all women are beautiful in their own way so Any woman who dreams of being an international model have to first understand that even if it might not seem easy but it’s possible what it only takes is confidence and everything else follows.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
To me this is a huge responsibility that I value the most because I’ve always dreamed of being a woman to inspire other women in all the ways possible. I always try to be a better version of myself everyday.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
My first time infront of the camera was very exciting and I was so nervous which is very different from my first time on beauty peagent stage because there my heart was so full of emotions and I couldn’t believe that those thousands of people came to see me:)
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media today have everything negative and positive depending on how you want to use it. In today’s society, the use of social media has become a necessary daily activity. Social media is typically used for social interaction and access to news and information, and decision making. Let’s always choose wisely on what we really want on it.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
My favourite app so far is Instagram! As it’s hard for me to chat with each and everyone I use a” ask me a Question ” or “talk to me ” publicly so I can try to balance my time and end up interacting with all my followers.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
If you don’t try it you will never know! You can never know what will or will not work out if you don’t take a step out of your comfort zone! And to parents I would advise them to try to understand that all children will not be pilots and doctors,.. because there’s more to life and there’s many people living a happy life simply because of their talents so it’s better to support your kid while you still can.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
I learnt to love myself even more, to take care of my body, it helped me build my self confidence and overall I came to realise that am not just a pretty girl because I have everything it takes to fulfill every dream that I have.
12.- Charlotte, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles?How did you overcome obstacles?
Being a model for me has never been easy! I met many different people including creepy ones! The ones that are always eager to have sex with models in order to let them win or to give them any service, to me that was challenging but I was taught by my parents that only hardwork and dedication can take me wherever I want to be! I never believe in shortcuts and that what makes my journey more interesting.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Yes I did.! I tried being an actress in one of the amazing movies but due to my schedule which was full by then I couldn’t manage multitasking (modelling,beauty peagents, normal work and school) so I decided to wait until I finish my bachelors degree to go back. I like entertainment industry despite all the obstacles we meet its still one of the amazing industries in the whole world.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
Men don’t abuse women because society tells them it’s OK. They do it because society tells them they are entitled to be in control… that’s why I believe the whole world have to work very hard to establish Gender equality.
15.- Charlotte, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My mother is my biggest motivation because she understands me and always push me to work hard and be a better version of myself. Am super grateful to her and my whole family as well for always believing in me.
16.- Charlotte, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from Poland and Rwanda?
I love travelling and so far I visited different countries in Africa and I recently visited Austria.! I would like to visit Italy:) . If you want to visit Rwanda I can record you checking out the big five in Akagera national park, Gorillas in volcanoes national park and iby’iwacu village to learn more about Rwandan culture!
