It is an honor to introduce from Canada Cierra Johnson, Fashion Model, Beauty Queen, Miss Petite Globe Canada 2022, Miss Asia Canada 2021, Miss Ontario World 2021, Miss World Canada 2022 Delegate.
Cierra is also Founder and President at CreArt Foundation and she grants me a valuable interview.
Welcome Cierra Johnson!!!
1.- Cierra, tell me about the city where you were born and raised ,What do you like about your hometown?
I was born and raised in my beautiful city of Vaughan, Ontario. What I love most about my hometown is not only the lush scenery, but the proximity to everything. Feeling adventurous? Canada’s Wonderland is right down the street! Want to watch a movie? Cineplex Colossus is a close drive away! Everything you could ever need can be found in Vaughan, and that is one of the reasons I love my city!
What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?
Art, Cosplay, Gymnastics, Makeup Artistry, Fashion, Snowboarding, Traveling, Motorcycling… what isn’t my hobby?! I enjoy trying new experiences to fuel my adventurous side. Something that brings me joy would be creating artwork. Being able to express my emotions through drawing, painting, and sculpting is a feeling like no other. My passion for art has gone from a hobby, to a University degree, to a Not-For-Profit Organization, which has brought joy and fulfillment in my life.
2.- Fashion Model, Beauty Queen, Miss Petite Globe Canada 2022, Miss Asia Canada 2021, Miss Ontario World 2021, Miss World Canada 2022 Delegate, When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants?
I started pageantry two years ago on a whim. Watching pageants like Miss Universe and Miss World, I was drawn towards the beauty aspect of pageants, but quickly learned that today it is about a lot more than your looks. A combination of beauty, brains, and a love for community service is the idea behind most pageants and that is why I chose to continue pursuing pageantry.
3.- What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized woman today?
As I continue to grow and develop into the woman I know I can become, I make sure that every day I take one step towards achieving my goals. It brings me comfort and joy pursuing my passions in all aspects of my life. I was taught from a young age that if you do what you love it’ll never feel like work.
Being a recognized woman today from my community and the Women Empowerment Awards has reassured that I am taking those steps in the right direction. I am honoured to continue serving my community through outreach programs and my Not-for-Profit Organization, creArt Foundation.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Cierra in each activity carried out as a person?
I was taught to always leave things better than you found it. Whether that be with places, organizations or people. In each activity I carry out, I encourage others to challenge themselves by viewing the good aspects of a situation rather than dwelling on the bad ones. I believe that my unique stamp is shown through my compassion, leadership skills and positive outlook on life.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an beauty queen?
Before embarking on your pageant journey, you must know and respect yourself. On the road to becoming a beauty queen, you will be surrounded by many likeminded and beautiful women which can be intimidating. A true beauty queen that knows and respects herself, understands that you shouldn’t compare your abilities to others and in pageants your only competition is you. Respect and love yourself, put your best foot forward, and focus on achieving your goals.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for many girls who want to be beauty queen? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Social media has become a large part of our everyday lives, giving youth and adults from all over the world the opportunity to follow and connect with each other. It is very important that we set a good example for younger generations; spreading kindness, love, and awareness on global issues. Youth are the future, thus it is crucial they have good role models to set examples both online and in person, while teaching them to be leaders of the future.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modelled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
My first modelling experience was at age 18 and I felt very comfortable in front of the camera.
Since then, I found enjoyment in modelling which is an aspect that led my path towards pageantry. At my first pageant, Miss Ontario World 2020, I was nervous and inexperienced, but I made sure to educate myself on proper pageant wardrobe, speaking, and walking. The obstacles I overcame and the growth that I have experienced since that first pageant is sublime.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media has a great power over our society today, with both positive and negative effects. It is a great tool which allows us to connect with people across the world, giving everyone a voice and platform to speak their minds. However it also opens the door for hate speech, bullying, internet addiction and can display photoshopped, unrealistic body standards, which in turn is harmful for our mental health. I don’t believe that we should allow social media to take over our lives. Taking breaks once in a while, going on nature walks, or immersing yourself in a book is healthy and should be exercised.
Whats your favourite social media?
My favourite social media is Instagram. I also enjoy creating Youtube videos when I have downtime, but find that Instagram is a lot more engaging. I love scrolling and seeing what people are up to, and what is going on around the world.
9.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
I was lucky to have grown up with parents who pushed me to continue in Rhythmic Gymnastics from a young age and supported my aspirations with sports. Once my parents realized that I had talent and potential, they ensured that I stayed in it as long as I could. Without them pushing me to continue, I never would have won gold medals or travelled the globe for world championships. I would advise parents to put their child into a sport or allow them to pursue a talent, because it teaches hard-work, time management and discipline. To those who are scared to take the next step; You’ll never know if you don’t try. Looking back in the future you won’t want to have regrets about pursuing a passion. Even if you fail, failure is what makes us stronger, which allows us to grow and become the best version of ourselves.
10.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Personally, I am more interested in focusing my artistic talents on creating artwork. After graduating from York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree, I have continued to develop a deep passion for the arts. Though I do have an appreciation for the hard-work that goes towards becoming an actress, and enjoy the entertainment industry, I don’t believe I will be getting involved anytime soon.
11.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
Women everywhere are constantly fighting for their rights to be seen, heard and treated as equal.
Through raising our voices and women empowerment we can overcome barriers to leadership and influence. We need more women in roles of power, to defeat workplace biases, increase productivity and lead with compassion. Women are strong, we are powerful and we will create change to make our world a better place.
12.- Cierra, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation is my future. I want to create a life of fulfillment through setting high and attainable goals for myself. Each morning I set a goal for the day that pushes me into the right direction. I constantly express my love and gratitude for being alive on our beautiful planet Earth. It is said that the chances of you specifically being born is one in 400 quadrillion. I live each day thankful for the life I was given and strive to create love, laughter and memories, to last a lifetime.
13.- Cierra, What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I have been to over 13 countries which include; Spain, Budapest, Brazil, Greece, Latvia and my favourite, Singapore. I would recommend Singapore for everyone’s travel bucket list. The air smells fresh, the landscape is clean, the architecture is modern and the culture is rich. With it being one of the safest countries in the world, there is no need to worry about pick-pocketing or cat calling.
Canada is home to some of the most beautiful sights in the world. From the crystal clear lakes from Lake Louise Alberta, to the scenic trails of New Foundland and Labrador. In my home province, Ontario, the beautiful Niagara Falls, architectural Casa Loma, excitement of Canada’s Wonderland and soaring views from the top of the CN Tower, are some of my personal must sees!
