Sammi has a platform called Eunoia_together where she provides tips and resources to take care of mental health and she gives me a valuable interview and we meet her now.

Welcome Sammi Jo Haire!!!

1- Sammi, you were born inCanada, What do you like about your hometown in Canada?

I was born in the historic town of Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Labrador. This town has a memorial sight for Amelia Earhart, the S.S. Kyle, the Otterbury School House, and much much more. I take so much pride knowing I come from a town of almost 3000 people who host hundreds-thousands of tourists a year. We all come together as a town to produce the best possible experience for our people and tourists, and this is what I love about my hometown.

2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?

I have a lot of hobbies! Volleyball, cadets and hockey are my biggest ones. I love pageantry and have been competing for 8 years! On February 5th, I gave up my title of Miss Teen Personality BC and won the title Miss Personality Atlantic Provinces. Using this title, I will continue to promote my platform on instagram called @Eunoia_together and share tips, tricks, and resources for mental health. Knowing I helped the next generation succeed brings me joy. I have always loved cheering people on and it’s so important to pass on your knowledge.

3.- Model , Beauty Queen, Miss Teen Personality BC , 2RU Miss Teen Earth Can, When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?

I joined my first pageant when I was 12 for the sole reason of doing something with my friend. The rush I got while being on stage is something I can’t describe. For this reason I kept coming back until eventually I was crowned Miss Teen Trinity Conception. After my reign was over, I went national with Personality Pageants Canada! After just short of a year of competing with them I won the title of Miss Teen Personality BC. From there: First runner up at Miss Teen Personality Canada, Second runner up for Miss Teen Earth Canada/ Miss Teen World Canada, and as of February 5th I took home the title of Miss Personality Atlantic Provinces.

Knowing that I can share my message about student and children mental health means the world to me. As a student myself I know first hand the hardships we face regarding studies, work, social life, and overall being an adult. Knowing people feel they can confide in me is such an accomplished feeling. It warms my heart to know people see someone they can trust and talk to about anything in life.

4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Sammi in each activity carried out as a person and model?

It’s my “stamp” in every activity that I give it my all. Hard work and dedication will help you succeed In what ever you are working for. From the smallest of things all the way up to my international pageant prep I’ve been giving it my all. At the end of the day I should be able to reflect and think I done the absolute best that I could.

5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be a model?

I believe the main virtue any model should have is respect. Anyone can pose for the camera, but to be able to respect yourself, the photographer, and most importantly your followers is what makes a model. Models are figures of the public eye and role models to everyone. As a new plus-sized model I make it my goal to respect every person who supports me or that I work with.

6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?

Being a role model for the next generation is my goal in life. I believe knowledge is power and without the proper guidance, this knowledge will be lost in future generations. Knowing I have so many young individuals looking up to me is an overwhelming feeling. The idea that they see me and feel inspired to do something is my goal!

7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?

The first time I modelled I completely had a break down. I’m so used to seeing size 0-2  models and not many 14-16. Of course there’s nothing wrong with being a tinier model, but there’s also nothing wrong with being a bigger one!

It took me a long time to gain the confidence to stand in front of a camera but I soon realized that by me doing this, I’m setting the bar for other plus sized women who see my photos. If I’m comfortable in the photos, they may follow in my footsteps and that is the ideology I want them to have; They are beautiful regardless of their clothing size.

8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?

I believe social media is the key to most things in todays society. This can mean good or bad. To focus on the positives, social media can be used to promote events, fundraisers, positive messages, etc. It’s also a way to connect with family and friends from all over the world. Using social media, I’ve been able to promote my platform about mental health and keep in touch with my parents across the country. I think this is the most important part for me.

9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?

I’m a sucker for Instagram. You can text and call, post pictures and videos, and so much more. To engage with my followers I use my story option a lot. This includes polls, questions, and other things to get them involved.

10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?

So many people in this world have talents to offer and are afraid to make that first step into showing it. A piece of advice I could give them is to prepare. Anyone can say to just “go for it” but let’s be honest, there’s so much anxiety and stress behind starting something new that it’s not as easy to just “go for it”. The reason I say to prepare is because sometimes taking that first step takes a long time. You need to prepare mentally, physically, and any other aspect that affects your life. To any parents that are not supporting their kids talents, I would never tell you to just let go and let them do as they please. Your their parents and it’s your job to protect them and have their best interest at heart. I appreciate you for doing this for your child. However, sometimes just doing so much as researching what your kid is doing will help them significantly. This gives you a better understanding of what is going on and the kid a feeling of success and empowerment.

11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?

Being authentic will get you somewhere in the long run. I would rather loose and be authentic than win and be fake. When competing in pageants it’s important to understand why you joined in the first place. Create an advocacy and run with it. Things take time but always remember to stay true to yourself.

12.- Sammi, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?

Im relatively new into the model scene. I can say with confidence this has not been easy. As a plus sized woman in pageants I feel like a minority in some ways. However this is not a reason to make me stop doing what I love. If anything, this is a drive to do better and show other women that the size of your clothes do not make you any better of an advocate, but rather the passion within yourself to help others and the world around you.

13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?

Being an actress has definitely crossed my mind, however it’s just not in the plans I have for my future. I have all respect for actors and actresses and would love to be more involved with live plays and shows.

14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?

I believe women are the future. This does not mean a man or any other individual is any less, however women are the ones who carry our children, mentor and love them, and nourish them. Recently along with the Kappa Beta Gamma international sorority, I was able to help fund nearly 300$ worth of personal hygiene products to help women and youth escaping abuse. In todays society, it’s important to break the trend of abuse as it is very likely that the next generation will follow in the footsteps. As a woman, I believe it’s time we stand up for ourselves. Let’s get the job we’ve always dreamed of and stop listening to those hate comments. Every person is unique and beautiful and it’s our responsibility to spread love to every person.

15.- Sammi, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?

Every day im grateful to wake up with a roof over my head, access to education, and food on the table. As a Canadian, im very fortunate to be blessed with free health care and safe housing. My motivation in life is my people back home. My family and friends have had my back since day one and have been my biggest supporters in all I do. The title of Miss Personality Atlantic Provinces is for them.

16.- Sammi, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from Canada?

I love traveling!! I’ve been to almost every province in Canada and I’ve also been to France. Next on my bucket list is hopefully Mexico, which is where the next international pageant will be for Personality Pageants co. I’m currently learning more about India and Bangladesh and hopefully I can travel there one day!
