1.- Fiona, you were born in Australia, What do you like about your hometown in Australia?
I was born in Monash, Victoria, but spent most of my childhood and teens in a suburb called Aspendale Gardens. I have moved too many times to count, but now call Googong and Canberra home! I love the small town atmosphere that Googong and Canberra offers without sacrificing big city amenities. Melbourne will always have a place in my heart as it is where I grew up and where all of my family lives, but Googong is now where I, my husband and our dog have settled and call home.
2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?
I love to dance! I found this hobby back in highschool and even competed in hip hop during year 12. I stopped for most of my adult life, but 3 years ago, I found Dance Central, a dance studio in Phillip ACT, and have never looked back! I am now part of an adult troupe called Mercury, and have recently performed with them on stage at the 2024 Ronald McDonald House Charity Gala!
The people I have met through dance brings me all of the joy in the world. I have never met a more supporting network in my life and I feel like the studio is my second home.
3.- International Model, Mrs Galaxy Australia National Finalist 2024. When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
My interest in Australia Galaxy Pageants started in 2022, but with my wedding in 2023 around the same time as the National Finals, I decided to delay and apply for the 2024 cohort. I dabbled in modelling while I was at university and even featured in a Victorian tourism commercial (you can find it on youtube still!). Once I moved to Canberra, I started looking for opportunities, and did many TFP shoots to build up my portfolio.
I stopped for a while and only last year reignited the modelling flame volunteering at a bridal expo. It’s a great feeling and a huge confidence boost being recogised for the hard work put into shows, photoshoots and pageants.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Fiona in each activity carried out as a Director, beauty queen and model?
Although I am determined and results driven, I am actually quite laid back and I think that is a welcome attribute to anyone that I meet and interact with.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?
Confidence. It has taken a lot of time for me to build confidence in all aspects of my life. Dance has helped quite a bit with this. You don’t have to have it put together all of the time, but self-belief is the biggest driver for confidence.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Very. Social media is a big player in influencing teenagers in our communities. Although it is very different now from when I was growing up, you could easily swap Instagram and TikTok for tv shows and magazines. The content that influences us are still there, but not as in your face when I was growing up. I remember feeling like I needed to look and act a certain way. I don’t think it’s that different now, which is why being a public figure, there are certain ways to portray yourself. I’m not saying to hide who you are or lie, more like «think before you post».
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
I was SO nervous and you could see it all over my face haha. I look back at old photos and realise I have grown a lot over the years. The nerves are still there, but I have taken on feedback from photographers and directors and put that into practice today.
As for pageants, Australia Galaxy Pageants is my first! I am nervous and excited at the same time. I am grateful for the opportunity and how it has encouraged me to be more involved in my community. I can only see good things in the horizon!
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
I think it is very influential to a large percentage of users. Access to media is so much easier these days, it’s all just there within arm’s reach. I do believe that society is more accepting these days, which I am grateful for.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I think I use Instagram a little too much haha I don’t interact with my followers too much, but do like to post stories of things I find interesting, or what I think they would find interesting.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
Take the leap. It is better to try and fail, than to not try at all. I am fortunate to have had supportive parents, who still had limits and boundaries. I guess I would suggest parents be receptive to their child’s ideas and actually sit down and hear them out. Conversations between parent and child are so important.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
That the network you meet through the industry is so valuable! Never burn bridges as you never know when you may need to call in a favour in the future.
12.- Fiona, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
Definitely not easy. I am not the typical height for modelling agencies, so I found it quite hard to apply for agencies and jobs. I found myself in the commercial category, which still loved, but I never got the opportunity for runway or fashion.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
The thought has been entertained, yes. I actually wanted to apply for My Kitchen Rules with my niece! I also had an audition for an Australian TV show, unfortunately, without proper training and rehearsing, I did not get the part. I still enjoyed watching the show though!
14.- Fiona, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation is to improve every day. Whether at work, dance, or gym. I want to go to sleep knowing I have achieved something. I am grateful for my little family and support network that I have.
15.- Fiona, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from Australia?
I love to travel! Notable places I have been are Colorado, USA during snow season and Japan (again during snow season… can you see a trend here? Haha) I would love to travel around Europe, especially France and Greece.
As for Australia, I would recommend Melbourne for food, Perth for Rottnest Island and Launceston Tasmania for the beautiful architecture.

Draw up a roadmap and plan it out. Now that you have a foundation, go for it! You have the evidence that you can do it, you have a plan, there is nothing stopping you but you.
