Entrevista de Alejandra Torregrosa Jiménez – Modelo Adolescente Internacional de Alta Moda de Pasarela y Editorial, Ganadora del galardón del Premio de “Modelo Adolescente del Año 2023” Carolina Fashion Awards
1.- Alejandra, you were born in USA ,What do you like about your hometown in the USA ?
My hometown is actually Fort Worth, Texas , where I was born. I love the people of Texas, their politeness, and their Southern hospitality. I now live in Cleveland, Ohio with my family. We moved here so I could pursue my modeling career and be closer to NYC. I like the Cleveland winters. It snows here all winter long. I love the snow. But my family is originally from Puerto Rico and honestly. I love everything about Puerto Rico, the beaches, the mountains, the smells, just everything. I love the fact that my family is also there.
Mi ciudad natal es Fort Worth Texas, donde nací… Me encanta la gente de Texas y su hospitalidad y sus buenos modales. Actualmente resido en Cleveland, Ohio con mi familia. Nos mudamos para aca para yo poder seguir mi carrera de modelaje y esta mas cerca a Nueva York. Me encanta el invierno de Cleveland, cae nieve casi todos los días del invierno. Pero mi familia originalmente es de Puerto Rico. De Puerto Rico me encantan las playasm las montañas, los olores, me encanta todo de Puerto Rico. Me encanta que mi familia también está allá.
2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?
Going to the zoo and talking to my best friend and cousin are my hobbies. Animals bring me joy. I love animals and I’m hoping to volunteer at the Cleveland Zoo, on my time off from modeling, starting in February after NYFW
Como pasatiempo, me encata ir al zoológico y hablar con mi major amiga y prima. Los animales me traen mi mayor felicidad… me encantan los animales y espero poder servir como voluntaria en el zoológico de Cleveland, en mi tempo libre de modelaje, empezando en brebreo después de NYFW.
3.- International Teen Top Model, Carolina Fashion Award Nominee – When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieved your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
Thank you. Actually, I went from nominee to being the winner of the Carolina Fashion Awards 2023 “Teen Model of the Year”. I began my modeling career at the age of 7 years old when my mother put me in a model search competition in my hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. I was later discovered as a model by my now mentor, America’s Next Top Model, Victoria Henley after she saw me model in a virtual modeling competition for Plitzs/Fashion Democracy. Because of her, I have gone off to participate in some of the biggest runways in the world and have worked with amazing designers and become an active working model for The Fashion life Tour, which is owned by America’s Next Top Model, Kiara Belen. I get the feeling of joy and determination in achieving my goals and dreams. I love what I do and when I received my nomination and then the win for Teen Model of the Year, I was surprise but achieving this, makes me strive to work harder and do better than I had done the day before. My goal as a woman influencer is to empower other young women to pursue their dreams, whatever that may be.
Gracias. Actualmente, fui de ser uma nominada a ser la recipiente del Galardón de Los Premios Carolina Fashion Awards “Modelo Adolescente del Año 2023”. Pues mi carrera de modelaje empezó a lo 7 años de edadcuando mi mamá me puso en una competencia de modelaje local en mi cuidad natal de Fort Worth, Texas. Poco después fui descubierta como modelo por Modelo de America’s Next Top Model, Victoria Henley,cuja es mi actual mentora, cuando me vio en una competencia virtual de Plitzs/ Fashion Democracy. Por causa de ella descubrirme como modelo, he llegado a desfilar en algunas de las pasarelas mas grades del mundo y he podido trabajar con diseñadores excelentes y actualmente soy modelo actual de The Fashion Life Tour, cual la dueña es America’s next Top Model, Kaira Belen. Lograr mis sueños y logros me llena de felicidad y determinación. Me encanta lo que hago y cuando fui nominada y después gané el premio de ” Model Adolescente del Año 2023” fue una sorpresa, pero al lograr esesto, me empuja a trabajar más duro hacía mi carrery hacer mejor de lo que hice en día anterior. Mi meta como mujer influencer es para darle poder interior a mujeres jóvenes para que pueda seguir sus sueños, no conste lo que sean.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Alejandra in each activity carried out as a person and model?
As a model, I’m fierce, bold and confident on the runway and in front of the cameras. As a person, I’m your normal teenager but I have a goofy personality. I like to travel and Disney is my happy place.
Como modelo, soy feroz, audaz y tengo confianza en las pasarelas y alfrente de las cámaras. Como persona, soy una adolescente normal y tengo una personalidad un poco boba. Me encanta viajar en Disney es donde] estoy más feliz.
5.- What is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?
As a model, all models must be fierce, confident, be bold but humble and not be afraid of messing up. All models must also be a good role model to others.
Como modelo, modelos deben ser feroz, deben tener mucha confianza, audaz, pero manténganse humild y no tener miedo de hacer errores.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
My mother has always taught me that with position and celebrity, that there is a responsibility towards others and that our actions can impact others. Idol is such a strong word for someone as young as me to use (I’m only 13), so we’ll say role model. So it’s important to be a good role model to other girls. It’s an honor to be a role model to younger girls and teenagers who are looking up to me as an example and follow in my footsteps as a model. It’s my responsibility to serve as a good example.
Mi mama siempre me ha enseñado que con posición y célebre hay una responsabilidad hacia otros y que nuestras acciones que pueden impactar a otros. La palabra Ídolo es una palabra tan fuerte para usar hacía alguien tan joven come yo (solo tengo 13 años), entonces vamos a usar la palabra modelo de buen ejemplo. Entonces, es importante to ser un buen ejemplo a otras niñas. Es un honor en servir como bueno ejemplo a niñas mas joven que yo y a adolescentes que quiera seguir mis pasos como modelo. Mi responsabilidad es de servirles como buen ejemplo.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
I was very scared at first, but then I calmed down and I realized it wasn’t so bad or scary.
Estaba muy asustada al principio, pero después me calmé y me di cuenta que no tenia razón de tener miedo.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
That’s a tricky question to answer, especially in my position where I’m constantly in the media. But there is good and bad in the power of the media. So much can be done with the media both good and bad, but sometimes I think the media has too much power over people and sometimes it can be harmful.
Honestamente, eso es una pregunta de doble filo para contestar, especialmente en mi posición, a la cual estoy en los medios contantemente por mi carrera. Pero hay poder de lo medios buenos como lo hay malos. Se puede hacer tanto con lo medios que sean buenos al igual que malos. Pero a veces creo que los medios tienen demasiado poder sobre la gente y a veces si puede hacer daño.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? What’s your favorite social media?
My interaction with my followers is key to my success. I have a lot of people pulling for me and their support means the world to me. Without them, I would not be where I am today. I post on both my Instagram and Facebook accounts almost daily about my work, achievements and what I’m doing professionally. I do keep my followers updated on what I’m doing, who I’m modeling, who I’m working with, where I’m showcasing at and who I’m doing ambassadorships with. I DO keep my personal and professional life separate to have some anonymity in my personal, school and family life due to my rising success in modeling. I do have an anonymous Instagram account where I interact with others like a normal kid and post funny and goofy things. My favorite social media platform is Instagram.
Mi interacción con mis seguidores es primiodial a mi éxito. Tengo mucha gente apoyándome y su apoyo lo es todo para mi. Sin ellos, no estuviera donde estoy hoy, profesionalmente. Posteo en mis cuentas de Instagram y Facebook casi a diario sobre mi trabajo, mis logros y lo que estoy haciendo profesionalmente. Si le dejo saber a mis seguidores lo que hago, cuales diseñadores estoy modelando, con quién estoy trabajando, donde voy a estar desfilando y con quién le estoy sirviendo como embajadora de modelaje. Si mantengo una separación entre mi vida profesional y personal para tener un semblaje de anonimato en mi vida y separo mi vida personal, familiar, escolar y profesional por causa de mi éxito en mi modelaje. Si tengo una cuenta anónima en Instagram, donde puedo interactuar con otros como una adolescente normal y poner cosas graciosas y bobas. Mi plataforma de social favorita es Instagram.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
If you have the talent, take it to the next level and follow your dreams. Parents should let their kids explore and experiment with their talents. If they like what they are doing and are serious about it, support your kids. You never know what or where their talents may lead. My mom has always been my biggest supporter and cheerleader in everything I do, that’s why I’m in the position I’m in now. She has supported me and sacrificed a lot to get me to where I am. That is the essence of total support.
Si tienes el talent, llévalo al próximo nivel y sigue tus sueños. No permitas que nadie te diga que no tienes talento. A los padres, dejen que sus hijos experimenten con sus talentos. Si les gusta lo wue están haciendoy lo toman en serio, apoyen a sus hijo. Nunca se sabe lo que puedan lograr con sus talentos. Mi mamá siempre ha sido mi mayor fuente de apoyoen todo lo que hago y por eso estoy en la posición en la cual estoy. Ella me ha apoyado y ha sacrificado mucho para llevarme a donde estoy hoy en día. Eso es la esencia de de apoyo total.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
How to take good care of yourself. To have a lot of confidence on oneself. I also learned that modeling is harder than it actually looks like. It takes a lot of practice and skill to be a model.
Como cuidarse a si misma. Tener mucha confianza en si misma. También que el modelaje es mas difícil de como se ve actualmente, requiere mucha practica y destreza en ser modelo.
12.- Alejandra, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
Yes it’s been easy. I haven’t had any obstacles to date.
Si, se me ha sido facil. Hasta la fecha no he tenido obstáculos.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Yes. I am waiting for my first movie “The Woodsman” to begin production soon. I would love to do horror films, I’m also good with different accents. I also speak multiple languages so I can work as an actress in different languages.
Si. Estoy esperando para empezar la grabación de mi primera película “The Woodsman” ya pronto. Me encantaría hacer películas de horror. Tambien soy buena en replicar accentos. También hablo varios idiomas y puedo trabajar comi actriz en diferentes idiomas.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I’m not sure. I think I’m still too young to answer that question and give an opinion. Give me a few years and I can answer that.
No estoy Segura. Creo que soy demasiada joven todavía para poder contestar esta pregunta y dar mi opinión en este tema. Dame unos años para poder contestar esta pregunta.
15.- Alejandra, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
The memory of my grandmother motivates me in my career. She was a private fashion designer to the stars in Puerto Rico, so I’m following in her footsteps in my career and what I can do with what comes with my modeling career. I’m very grateful for my family, my animals and being able to live the life I’m living. Not everyone has this opportunity and I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to have it.
Me motiva la memoria de mi abuela en mi carrera. Ella era una diseñadora privada de alta moda para las celebridades en Puerto Rico, entonces estoy siguiendo sus pasos en mi carrera y en lo que yo pueda hacer con mi carrera y lo que viene en mi carrera de modelaje. Estoy muy agradecida por tener mi familia, mis mascotas y el poder vivir la vida la cual estoy viviendo. No todos tienen la oportunidad a la cual tengo y soy muy afortunada en tener la vida cual tengo.
16.- Alejandra, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from USA?
Yes, I love to travel, learn new languages and experience different cultures. Aside from visiting hPuerto Rico, which is my mother’s home country, I have yet to go to other countries to explore the world. I hope to do so soon and I’m hoping modeling takes me out of the country soon…. with modeling I’ve been invited to walk in London, Dubai, San Torino, Milan and Paris. I’m getting my passport this year so we can do that. The list of countries I want to visit is too long to list. In the US, I recommend Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, New York City at least once, Texas and Hawaii and of course Puerto Rico which is a territory of the US.
Si, me encanta viajar, aprender nuevos idiomas y experimentar diferentes culturas. Ademas de regresar al Puerto Rico, cual es el país natal de mi mamá, todavía he de conocer y explorar otros países. Espero poder hacer eso en un breve futuro con mi modelaje y que me lleve fuera del país…con mi modelaje he sido invitada a Londres, Dubai, San Torino, Milan y Paris. Voy a recibir mi pasaporte este año para poder hacer eso. La lista de países cuales quiero visitar es demasiada largar para listar. En los EEUU, recomiendo visitar Pigeon Forge Tennessee, Nueva York por lo menos una vez, Texas , Haawaii y claro, Puerto Rico cual es un territorio estadounidense.

Get good grades in school and listen to your parents. Parents listen to your kids and support them. Always be yourself and stay humble
Saca buenas calificaciones en la escuela y préstale atención a tus padres. Padres, escuchen a sus hijo y apóyenlos. Siempre se Tu, nunca cambies y se humilde.
