1.- Monica, tell me about the city where you were born and raised.,What do you like about your hometown?
My Life goes back and forth between Atlanta, Ga in the United States and Panama City, Panama. I was born in Panama City, Panama and lived there from the time I completed primary school until my sophomore year of high school. I then moved back to Atlanta, Ga to complete high school and enter into College at the United States Naval Academy.
What I enjoy most about each home town is its individual history and culture. Atlanta, Ga carries a sense of pride and style within each individual you encounter. It is also a city where you can be yourself without fear, and its fast pace will always keep you energized.
Panama City, Panama prides its self on traditions from cultural dances to indigenes groups that still exist and can be seen and experienced. Both places also have amazing food.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
My hobbies include: Sewing, Exercising, and Podcasting
I also enjoy meeting and getting to know new people, as well as experiencing new activities. I truly believe life is short and should be lived to its fullest. Never be afraid to try something new.
3.- International Model. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I began modeling when I was about 12 years old in Panama City, Panama for about 2 years. After that time, I did not model again until recently as an adult. Coming back to modeling has been an empowering feeling. I have fallen in love with myself all over again and now I am able to display that love to the world through modeling.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Monica in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
My unique stamp that I carry in every activity as a model is that I am always myself and I carry a positive attitude. Being uniquely me sends positive energy into the world and impacts others in a way that is unexplainable but needed. I am constantly told that I have a positive vibe that attracts others to me, and that is a responsibility that I take seriously.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
I believe every woman should have confidence in herself. When a woman possesses confidence in herself she is an unstoppable force.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Being an idol for many women and young girls is a responsibility that I do not take lightly. I want women and young girls to know that modeling should be an enjoyable and fun experience. When you’re having fun and being authentically you, opportunities will flood your way.
I also want to display to women and young girls that modeling is a world that provides opportunities for every age and stage of life that you are in. I took the time to go to college and serve in the United States Navy, and now I am opening myself up to the world of modeling again. It is never too late.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera?
The first time I modeled in front of a video camera I felt like the only person in the world. All eyes were on me and I really enjoyed that feeling. I also felt extremely confident in my abilities to walk down the runway and show the world what I had to offer to the modeling world.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
I believe we live in a time where communication is at its easiest. With the push of a button and a quick direct message, we can form new connections and relationships with people all around world. Social media has been a great gift in making people’s dreams come true and keeping family and friends informed with one another.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
Instagram and Facebook are the two platforms I utilize the most to stay connected with those around me both personally and professionally. When it comes to my followers I like to encourage them every day with a positive affirmation or quote that helps them in their own lives. I want them to know that if they are ever having a bad day or need inspiration they can always visit my page and be surrounded by positivity and encouragement. Life is hard but it’s easier to go through when you don’t feel like you’re doing it alone.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
My advice to those who have talent and are having trouble taking the next step is, I believe in your talent, I want your talents to grow, and I’m saying to you that you only have one life and tomorrow is never promised. Take the steps forward so when you look back at your life, at least you can say that you did everything you wanted to do and try.
To the parents who do not support their children’s talents I say this,” Most people succeed in life when they are doing something they love. I can only imagine the fear of watching your child struggle in life but in my opinion it hurts more to watch your child be sad and unhappy. Believe in them, support them in their dreams the best way you can, and protect them as they progress in chasing their dreams. Communicate with each other so there is understanding and a plan that can be formulated that brings peace to both sides as you both encounter on the journey of building your child’s talents.”
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion?
Some of the lessons I have learned from the world of fashion are:
- Dress in a way that makes you feel the most confident in yourself.
- Presentation and attitude is key
- The world is your runway so walk with your head held high and a smile on your face, people will notice you are different in the best way
- Beauty comes in all shades and sizes
- You are never too old to show the world what you got
12.- Monica, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
During my time as a model I have encountered several obstacles from scams, knowing who to trust, finding castings, and difficulties with posing at times. What helps me overcome these obstacles is viewing them as learning opportunities. I study the craft of those who are more successful than me, and find ways to make them my own as to stay true to myself. I also build my networking circle so that I am surrounded by people who I can trust within the modeling industry. Finally, it’s important to do your own research on companies and organizations before committing to anything.
13.- Are you Podcaster. Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
I am also a podcaster. My podcast is titled “Dreamland Tales” on Spotify and on my podcast I provide children with stories that help to develop their character as they go through life.
I do enjoy the entertainment industry and it is my goal to one day enter into the world of television, so keep a look out because I will be on television one day.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
In my opinion the role of women in those societies is to be strong and to show that women are capable of anything they put their mind to. Women have amazing power and intelligence to improve upon any process or system.
15.- Monica, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
I am grateful every day for life, health, love, and peace. My motivation is knowing that I’m creating a path for someone in the future, that I am becoming the best woman I can for myself , my family, and my friends.
16.- Monica, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
Although I have many places to still visit, I love to travel. I have been to Mexico, the Bahamas, Canada and Panama. Other places I would love to visit are Japan, Columbia, Peru, Jamaica, and Thailand to name a few. Within the United States I would recommend visiting Georgia for that good southern cooking, Florida for Disney World, and New York for its freedom of fashion.
