1.- Emily, you were born in Australia, What do you like about your hometown in Australia?
I was very lucky to be born in Australia and I love my hometown Canberra, which is the capital city of Australia. Canberra has such beautiful vibrant seasons and a wonderful community of great people. I am very proudly born and raised in Canberra and I would not change it for the world!
2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?
I love all things pageants and community. I also love social media and content creation; I spend a bunch of my time working on social media. My business is also a huge hobby of mine and also spending time with friends and family. Finally, spending time with my gorgeous puppy and going for walks or coffees with my girlfriends. I take great joy in simple pleasures like spending time with my loved ones, watching a good tv show, playing sport or doing a face mask.
3.- International Model, Miss Galaxy Australia 2022 . When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I competed in my first pageant at only 18 years old and I was very out of my depth! It took six years of hard work and resilience, but all my dreams came true when I won my first National Title as Miss Galaxy Australia. I have spent a long time building my following and working in my community, so it is really special to me now when my audience recognises me or knows my work. I feel so lucky to have been chosen to represent my country at an international beauty pageant and I am forever grateful to have been able to achieve one of my biggest life goals.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Emily in each activity carried out as a Director, beauty queen and model?
I think what makes me unique is my drive, work ethic and commitment to my crafts. Whether it be my business, pageants or community work, I put 110% into everything I do and spend hours working. I am a big believer that great things take passion and a lot of hard work and I think that’s what really has set me apart in my journey. I also think I am very honest and authentic, I really value women who own their truth and I am really proud of the person I have become.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
Work ethic and commitment. Modelling is a tough industry and it is very rare for things to fall into your lap. The models who are constantly hustling and working and networking are usually the most successful and every success I have received has been off the back of extremely hard work. The same goes with pageantry, it takes lots of hard work and dedication to be successful and I love women who work really hard to pursue their dreams.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
That’s very kind thank you. I think it is important that influencers or models use their platforms to be positive and to be role models to other women. I am always authentic with my voice and encourage women to be the best version of themselves. I truly believe that modelling and pageants are an incredible platform for development, so I really want young girls to look up to me as someone who is a role model, a friend and the depiction of a hard-working woman.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
It was quite nerve-wracking but I LOVED it! I knew in that moment that I was born for the camera and I loved the entire creative process from start to finish! My first pageant was a bit overwhelming but I really relished the opportunity to represent my home state. I fell in love with being on the stage and would go to sleep dreaming about the next chance to be on stage. I fell in love with the entire process, made so many friends and really treasure the entire journey I had over many years in pageants.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
I think it is both a privilege and responsibility to be on social media. I think it is an incredible platform to share stories and a great tool to connect with one another. It is also important for people to establish their own boundaries for their mental health and I recommend regularly checking in with yourself to make sure your social media is still aligned with your purpose and goals, and bringing you joy!
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
My personal favourite is definitely Instagram! I love reels and photos as I am really creative. I am very connected with my followers through comments, messaging and stories and I am regularly interacting! I really appreciate the support from my followers and always love to interact with them. I think my followers really resonate with my page and know my voice is really authentic and honest.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
I think you need to take the leap of faith and step outside your comfort zone. You cannot be great in life if you don’t take the chance or put yourself out there for opportunities. This can be difficult and scary, but the greatest rewards often come from the greatest risks.
I think I would advise parents to trust their children and allow them the opportunity to at least try. Parents normally want the best for their children and for them to be happy so I would implore parents to really objectively look at what things in the child’s life bring them happiness and allow them to do a bit more of whatever that may be, in a safe manner where they are supported and protected.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
Resilience and Confidence. I competed in pageants for six years before I eventually won my title and so I really learnt to show grit and never give up. I also learnt how to be the best version of myself and be completely comfortable in my own skin and in my purpose. I feel really proud of the woman I have become and I try and encourage other women who are in the industries to also really embrace themselves and their own worth to become comfortable in who they are and what they have to offer.
12.- Emily, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
I have definitely had to work really hard to get where I am today and I have overcome many challenges and setbacks. I am a proud neurodivergent woman who has often struggled with mental battles and as I mentioned, I have had many times where I lost, before I ever won! However I saw every “setback” more as a challenge and an opportunity to overcome and I think it really lit the fire inside me to come back stronger each time.
13.- Presenter. Do you like the entertainment industry, TV? Have you thought about being an actress?
I love MCing and presenting and really relish the opportunity to be amongst crowds. I don’t think acting is in my future career but I would love a television gig presenting or speaking! For example, I would love to interview other people on a red carpet or host a fashion show. I love the entertainment industry and am really fortunate to have had some wonderful opportunities already in media, print and radio.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I think women are extremely powerful. I want to see a world one day where women can stand equally amongst men and be valued in society in many ways that today we are not. I see women having an amazing presence in leadership roles and global success in future and look forward to being a part of the change in seeing women rise.
15.- Emily, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation is the want for a bright future and success. I have always been extremely goal orientated and I have strong vision for my future. I set smaller goals and action achievable tasks to stay on track and always celebrate small wins! I am extremely grateful for my family, friends, partner and puppy – these are my life’s greatest achievements and give my life so much meaning.
16.- Emily, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from Australia?
I love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit many countries across the globe. A personal favourite is Thailand, I love the people who are so humble and welcoming, I spent considerable time there in my adolescence.
My future bucket list countries are the Maldives, Spain, Japan and Greece.
In Australia, I recommend visiting Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne! There is so much wonderful history, culture and gorgeous beaches in Australia. We have interesting animals, wonderful people, amazing food and coffee and also so much fashion and fun! We are a melting pot of cultures and I love how free and peaceful a nation we are.
