1- MarKeshia, you were born inUSA, What do you like about your hometown in USA?
I was born in Alexandria, VA and raised in Radcliff, KY. My hometown was small and near a military base. I loved that everyone knew everyone!
2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?
I love working out and watching Tyler Perry sitcoms and movies. The ladies at my gym really keep me entertained and hold me accountable.
3.- Model, Mrs Georgia America 2023 – When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I competed in my first pageant at Clark Atlanta University, and I won the title of Miss Omega Psi Phi. I am so proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone. I was very shy and reserved, but I quickly learned the benefits pageantry could offer.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of MarKeshia in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
My relatability is what makes me unique. I can connect with various groups of people, from all kinds of backgrounds. This is important when promoting certain events, platforms, and gaining the trust of the community overall.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
The main virtue of an international model is authenticity. It’s important that women exhibit their true selves and don’t conform to what they believe society wants them to be.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Yes, I was prepared to be the spokesmodel for many women when I earned the title of Mrs. Georgia America. My goal is to show young girls and women that it’s important to go after your dreams, no matter what. Being a mother, wife, etc. does not define you. I am a passionate, motivated, servant leader and each day I challenge myself to elevate higher than before.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
I felt so empowered the first time I got on stage. The nerves left my body, and I was instantly in performance mode. It’s an indescribable feeling.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social Media is very powerful. It can bring people from all over the world together and has the power to divide us. It’s important that users employ respect when using social media. If I could give young users one piece of advice, it would be to remember that everything on social media is not real. Stay true to who you are and don’t conform!
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I use social media to stay in touch with family and friends and post a variety of community events. Instagram is my favorite social media platform. I use IG to share a little of everything; community service, workouts, challenges, etc.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
Take it from someone who wishes they weren’t so reserved when they were younger. Go for your dreams! Your biggest cheerleader is always going to be yourself. If you don’t believe in you, it will be hard for others to. Let your confidence drive you. As for parents who do not support their children’s talents, I would suggest they remind themselves of a time when they felt less than. Sit with how that made them feel and do better for your children.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
It’s important to stand out! Beauty pageants and the world of fashion are always looking for the next best thing. Don’t try to fit in, create a new style and really show your personality.
12.- MarKeshia, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
It hasn’t been easy. I’m surrounded by so many beautiful women; some who have been in this industry for 10 years or more. Sometimes imposter syndrome makes its appearance, but this is when I lean on prayer and positive affirmations to remind me, I belong.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Yes!!! All the time. I love making people laugh. Fun fact, I actually wanted to study theater in college. My dream job is working for Tyler Perry as an actress. I am still pursuing this dream.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
Women are lifelong learners and fighters. We are resilient and will continue to work for the things we deserve. My hope is that women will work together to build each other up and never bring each other down.
15.- MarKeshia, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My biggest fear is becoming complacent. I’m so used to moving, participating, volunteering, etc. I wouldn’t know what to do if I couldn’t try multiple activities or volunteer with organizations. This is what drives me. Outside of my family being a constant motivator, avoiding complacency ranks high.
16.- MarKeshia, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from USA?
I love to travel and would love to experience the cultures of more countries. I have been to Punta Cana, Mexico, and Jamaica. Montego Bay, Jamaica is my favorite! The people on this island are very down to earth and have beautiful hearts.
