1. – Winnie, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I have been living and working in North Holland for many years now. I live in the beautiful city Haarlem, the place where I feel the most at home. I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences what this region has provided for me. I like that this place is accessible, international, and diverse.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
My hobbies include traveling around the world and learning about different cultures. I also enjoy hiking, as it helps me clear my head and connect with nature. Dancing, especially Zumba, always lifts my spirits. As a former makeup artist, I love being creative and exploring everything beauty-related, as it brings me so much joy.
3.- International Model – Miss Universe Noord-Holland 2025 Finalist . When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I always liked modelling as a hobby from a young age. I was scouted on the streets by agencies, did some photoshoots abut not really often. I was more focused on my study and most of my free time went to working for my parents at their company.
I have previously participated in another pageant in 2020, where I was first runner-up Mrs Netherlands Universe. Even though this took place during the period of the pandemic, I learned a lot along the way and my dream is to represent The Netherlands internationally abroad.
In 2023, the age limit of the Miss Universe pageant had been lifted and I can possibly fulfill my dream. Now 5 years later, I will again passionately embark on a new adventure and enjoy this experience. Currently, I am competing for the provincial pageant, a stepping stone to the national pageant.
By achieving my dreams, passions and being a recognized influencer woman today has given me a good feeling, as if I live from my fully potential, as this is my purpose in life. I feel a positive transformation and I think I will have a fulfilling feeling when I win the title and crown. The feeling of giving it my all will be rewarded.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Winnie in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
That she does it with her full passion, determination, always being humble, kind, funny, elegance and in a professional way.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
I would say there a more aspects to it, but if I had to choose one main virtue, it would self-belief.
To make it complete I would say: Respect, positive mindset, determination, resilience, self-belief and open for feedback.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
I am aware of being a role model for girls who want to be models. I would like to support, inspire and motivate them that they really have to take the first step towards their goal. It is important because my goal is also to help them a step further
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
The first time I modeled in front of a video camera, I was around 21 years old. I felt a bit shy and uncomfortable at first, but with more practice, I embraced it and gradually built my confidence. I made many makeup tutorial videos and even participated in a few commercials, photo shoots, and series as a hobby.
When I first participated in a beauty pageant at 29, I felt much more confident and excited. It was a completely different experience, and I was eager to embrace the challenge and enjoy the journey
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media has a huge impact over a lot of people at the same time. It can be positive but also negative as well. For example bad self-image especially for young people. On social media everything seems more beautiful than it actually is. Keep in mind that most of the people only post
9.- How do you like to inter act with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I love interacting with my followers on social media by responding to their comments, sharing engaging content, and creating a community where everyone feels heard and valued. I try to keep the conversation positive and motivating, whether it’s answering questions, sharing personal insights, or simply expressing gratitude for their support.
As for my favorite social media platform, I enjoy Instagram because of the visual content. It’s great for sharing photos, stories, and connecting in real-time. I also appreciate platforms like LinkedIn for professional networking and sharing career-related insights. Ultimately, I enjoy the platforms that allow me to connect authentically and meaningfully with others
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
I would advise young people with talent to start by believing in themselves and their abilities. It’s natural to feel fear or doubt, but taking small steps outside your comfort zone can gradually build confidence. Surround yourself with people who inspire and support you, and don’t be afraid to seek guidance or mentorship. Remember that every successful person started somewhere, and taking that first step can open up countless opportunities. This will lead them to great achievements.
For parents who may not fully support their children’s talents, I would suggest trying to see things from their child’s perspective. Talents are often an essential part of personal growth and identity. It’s important to encourage exploration and self-expression. Rather than imposing limitations based on fear or misunderstanding, supporting their journey can foster self-confidence and personal fulfillment. Every child is unique, and embracing their passions could lead them to unexpected successes and happiness.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
To stay authentic and always be yourself. I also learned to take nothing personally. One important lesson I’ve learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants is to stay authentic and always be yourself. I’ve also learned to take nothing personally. This mindset has allowed me to experience things from a different perspective and stay grounded in who I am, regardless of external opinions.
12.- Winnie, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
Being a model wasn’t always easy for me, especially because my parents didn’t support my passion at the time. From the beginning, I knew it was something I truly cared about, but I couldn’t pursue it fully. However, when I started living on my own, I was able to focus more on my hobbies and take steps toward my dreams. I also became more clear about what I wanted and didn’t want as a model, which helped me navigate the challenges and stay true to myself.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Yes, I’ve thought about being an actress and I do enjoy the entertainment industry! Although I’ve never taken acting lessons, who knows what the future holds. I’ve had the opportunity to play a few different roles as an extra in series, films, commercials, and photoshoots, which I’ve really enjoyed.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
It is unacceptable that women continue to be victims of so many injustices. It is deeply saddening. Women must say no, raise more awareness, and share stories with each other about the best ways to prevent these situations. I believe that, with education, empowerment, and the support of both men and women, these societies can gradually evolve toward equality and respect.
The future of women in these societies will depend on dismantling harmful stereotypes, addressing cultural barriers, and promoting women’s rights. It’s important that women continue to be given the opportunities to lead, express themselves, and make decisions about their own lives. The more we work together on these issues, the closer we get to a world where women everywhere are truly free and equal.
15.- Winnie, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation is to become the best version of myself and to live up to my full potential. Every day, I feel grateful for so many things. It’s really about appreciating the little things in life. I’m grateful for my health, food, water, clothing, the roof over my head, and the love of my friends and family. Being a finalist for Miss Universe North Holland is another incredible blessing, and of course, having the opportunity to do this interview with you! I could go on and on, haha
16.- Winnie, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I absolutely like to travel! I have a whole bucket list of places I want to visit, it’s never-ending, haha! So far, I’ve explored most countries in Europe and a few in Asia. However, I still haven’t made it to Africa or North and South America, but those are definitely high on my list for the future.
As for my own country, I highly recommend visiting Amsterdam. It’s a vibrant, bustling city where you can find everything you could ever wish for. Whether you’re into art, history, or just enjoying the lively atmosphere, Amsterdam has it all. And let’s not forget the food—it’s incredibly diverse, with cuisines from all over the world. It’s a true melting pot of culture and flavors!
