Svetlana, first I want to thank you for the scoop for your participation in the movie: “Wrongful Death”.
1.- Svetlana, tell me about yourself, how did you start in the film industry, in acting?
Greetings, everyone. Acting has been my dream ever since I was a little girl. Since I was younger, I was always talking about how I would travel and move to Hollywood and act in movies and become famous. However, it turned out that it wasn’t me who had to go to Hollywood at all, because Hollywood came to us. ���
I saw that my friend posted news on her Facebook site about how she acted in a movie made by a producer who was connected with Hollywood, its actors, and a very high-quality production. Without a second thought, I decided to reach out and send a friend request and a message to this producer and tell him how I would love to play in one of his movies. He told me that I should send him a video of me acting, and because at the time I weighted a little bit more then I should’ve, I waited to lose that weight. After some time, he reached out and wanted to meet me, and while we were having a drink, I had to mime different emotions and moods. He was satisfied and that’s how it all started. In the beginning, I was offered a bigger role, however, I turned this opportunity down. So, my first role was in a second movie, and I played a nun who is praying in the church and appears at the beginning of the movie. She is running away from the army that later takes over and occupies the church. The movie was shown this year in cinemas, and it won 24 rewards and achieved 8 nominations at some of the worlds famous festivals, like: Las Vegas, New York, Paris, etc. Some of the actors who play in the movie are Costas Mandylor, Raquel Montes, Morad Azzaoui, and many others.
I would also like to add that before I entered the world of acting and movies, I began as an extra and played in music videos and commercials, however all of those were smaller parts.
2.- What joys and experiences has being an actress given you?
I am really happy and joyful before any job. At the shootings of music videos that I appeared in, as well as Mercedes Benz commercial, there were a lot of people, and it was always loud and cheerful. In music videos, it was hard for us because we had to dance in high heels and repeat some scenes over and over, and work up to 10 hours, and in a commercial with Jeep we were filming at the extremely low temperature. At the time I was in a dress, and as soon as I finished filming my scenes, I quickly ran to find a place where I could warm up. However, not one of those things were problematic for me, because I couldn’t wait to see us in the videos.
However, when I did a coffee commercial, I couldn’t make myself cry, therefore I switched my main role with a secondary one, and I played a girl who was comforting her friends because she broke up with her boyfriend. What made both of us feel better in the end was the best coffee in our country.
When we were making the movie, everything was going great and we were all in a great mood, and the entire crew was amazing.
3.- Before we start with the film Wrongful Death, we want to know about its director, Vjekoslav Katušin (Croatian – German) and his experience in the world of cinema. What other films has he directed and tell us something about his love for Croatia, the country of his parents?
Vjekoslav Katušin is a Croatian director, producer and an actor, born in Germany.
He has already successfully completed scenes in several European countries, in addition to filming in Germany. For example, his home country Croatia was chosen as the filming location for the sequences with Eric Roberts, and the shooting with Christopher Lambert.
From 2006 Vjekoslav Katušin appeared as a minor actor in various movies, including Superheroes – Hasenbrot and Waldgeflüster (2007) and – after meeting the German producer Uwe Boll – in his films Max Schmeling (2010), in which he was also responsible for the Croatian cast, Bloodrayne: The Third Reich and Blubberella. In 2015, he produced Dead End – At the end we die, a Croatian crime series for the first time, which was realized in English in order to appeal to an international audience with the series. The pilot episode premiered at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles. In 2016 Katušin founded his own production company Dream Team Pictures based in Rust, Baden-Württemberg/Germany. In 2017, he shot his first horror film C.L.E.A.N. in Pula, Croatia, in which Hollywood actors Tom Sizemore and Costas Mandylor played. On October 18, 2020, the film was presented at the 14th Festival of Serbian Fantastic Film (FSFF) in Belgrade. C.L.E.A.N. has received several awards from various film festivals, including two Osculls in the categories “Best Horror Film” & “Best Supporting Actor”. The Austrian cinema chain Cineplexx showed the film from the end of October 2020 for several weeks in their cinemas in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia. In early 2020, he finished shooting his second horror film Unbound Evil, again with Costas Mandylor. In 2022, he will finish his film project Someone Dies Tonight in which Eric Roberts, Christopher Lambert, Tom Sizemore, Michael Paré, Bai Ling, Robert Miano & Costas Mandylor will take on supporting roles.

4.- Wrongful Death is the new proposal of the international cinema and it will start shooting from January 2023 in Baranja. I know you can’t reveal anything about the movie, but can you tell us a part of the plot?
This thriller brings together some of the famous actors of the film industry such as Eric Roberts and Michael Paré and young actors on the rise, such as Isabella Brenza, Raquel Montes and Jenny Paris, says Katušin, who makes films under the auspices of his production company Dream Team Pictures. By the way, he says, he was born in Germany but decided to move to Baranja, where his parents are from.
In the thriller Wrongful Death, the story revolves around the efforts of David Moore, played by Paré, to calm his conscience by finding the real truth about what happened to his son, that is, he is trying to answer the question who took his life and why. This is what he tries to find out from Sophie McElroy, the daughter of Senator McElroy, and the story also features an unscrupulous journalist, an addict and a schemer with a difficult past. All this should form an explosive cocktail based on the parent-child relationship in two different ways.
5.- Is Wrongful Death based on a real-life case or is it part of the extraordinary creativity of its director Vjekoslav Katušin?
No, the movie is not based on real life events. It is a scenario created by the producer Vjekoslav, and the screenwriter from Serbia. The movie is a mystery/thriller.
6.- What are the expectations of the new film Wrongful Death, what kind of audience do you want to reach, what kind of people are you targeting?
It will be a movie for adult people, 16/18 and up.
We are expecting that everyone who liked ‘Saw’ will also like this movie.
7.- Svetlana, now let’s see your participation in the film, being a young actress, what will be your role in Wrongful Death, how do you feel about participating in a film with a director and actors of world recognition?
My role in the movie will be very interesting. I will play the director of the hotel, and will be welcoming the character, played by Eric Roberts, in front of the hotel. The actor is coming back from his trip to America, and he is escorted to the hotel by the entire security service.
I have to say that I am very happy to, once again, have the honor to play in a movie made by a very successful producer. Some of the actors I already know, since we’ve worked together on the last movie, and they are amazing. However, the rest of the actors and the crew all seem great, and I cannot wait to meet them.
This is also my opportunity to get some useful advice from the greatest experts. A lot of them are famous, successful and awarded.
8.- Which actors will be in Wrongful Death? Many of them with Hollywood experience.
Eric, Roberts as Senator McElroy, Michael Pare as Mr. David Moore, Requel Montes as Maria Lopez, Jenny Paris as Alice, Isabella Brenza as Sophia McElroy, also Hubertus Geller, Alessio Medas, Alexander Man, Isabella Brenza, Vjekoslav Katušin, Monique Bartnik.
9.- Svetlana, do you think it is your most important participation in a film because it is an Intenational proposal?
Both of these movies are important, because both are Hollywood projects. However, this one is more important for me, because I am in a scene with a Hollywood star, Eric Roberts, a brother of beautiful Julia Roberts. And I have to say that I am a big fan of hers.
10.- Svetlana, from today your great passion, being an actress, will be read in more than 100 countries around the world. What do you think about your professional growth being a very young woman?
Yes, and I’m looking forward to it! I have been developing and growing in other professions for about 20 years now, and I think everything is easier when you have professional experience and a career in modeling behind you. In that case, it is much easier to switch to acting, and because you have a name and a brand, people recognize you and they want you to be part of their team.
11.- Would you like to continue growing as an actress and have a parallel career as Miss and to Model International?
I already plan to work with one agency that primarily works with actors, and then models, especially for commercials. So, I would like to work both as an actor and a model. When it comes to beauty pageants, I already have three projects planned for the next year, so I will also be dedicating myself to that.
12.- As an actress, do you like movies more, would you reject a proposal to be an actress in a soap opera or theater?
For now, I like movies more, and I believe they will remain my favorite genre. However, I could also see myself acting in soap operas, so long as I like my role. Of course, everyone dreams of getting the leading roles, because we want to be like the actors and actresses we’ve watched on TV when we were younger. And when it comes to theater, I like plays, but I don’t see myself there.
13.- Do you agree with the statement ‘An actress must be 360’, that is to say, an actress must and can play all kinds of characters?
I believe that every producer wishes to have such actors in their movies, shows, etc. Even so, I’m much more for specializing in one or more genres. I think it is extremely difficult to switch to a completely different role when you’ve already gotten used to a genre that suits you the best. So, I believe that not everyone has to be suited for everything, and people should choose roles in which they feel good and which they enjoy.
14.- Is your heart as an actress made for a character: romantic, executive woman, good girl, bad girl?
If we are talking about the characters you’ve just listed, I think I could see myself in all of these roles. If I really had to choose between a good and a bad girl though, I think I would choose to play a good girl. However, a bad girl would also be an interesting character to play in fighting scenes and action movies.
15.- Svetlana, back to the movie Wrongful Death, when do you think the movie will be released, will you send a video of the red carpet at the Avant Premiere?
The movie ‘Wrongful Death’ should be released in cinemas next year on Halloween. After the release, audience will be able to order the movie on CD. I will, of course, appear on the premiere of the movie, and ‘Perumira’ will also get a video of me on the red carpet. We will me in contact ‘till then.
16.- Svetlana, can you say your final words or whatever you want to say, that is your home?
Thank you, Jamie. I would also like to thank all of my fans who have been following my work all these years, many of which are my friends, and I think that will always remain the same, because people who are there for me without judgment when I need their support the most, and also people who were with me from the very beginning are important to me. Also, I would like to than all the media that have been following me on my way to success.
