1.- Naomi, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I was born and raised in Arnhem, where I still live today. What I love most about Arnhem is the beautiful nature. When I walk with my dogs on the Veluwe, I always feel free and at peace.

2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
Apart from pageantry and modeling, my main hobby is reading—I read at least 100 books a year and I’m also an ARC reader, which means I read and review books before they’re officially released. What makes me laugh and brings me a lot of joy are my dogs. No matter what happens, they always know how to put a smile on my face

3.-International Model, Miss Voluptuous Europe – Miss Voluptuous Netherlands 2024 – Miss Curve Netherlands 2023 . When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
In 2022, I took my first step into the pageant world. I suffer from PTSD, and after years of hiding and avoiding the daylight, I decided it was time to take a chance and put myself in the spotlight. That’s when I discovered Miss Curve Netherlands, which marked the beginning of my journey.

Looking back now, it feels surreal to compare myself with the Naomi from 2022. Seeing how many dreams I’ve already realized and how much I’ve grown as a person, I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful and proud.

4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Naomi in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
I believe my resilience is what sets me apart as a beauty queen and model. Throughout my life, I’ve faced many obstacles, but I never let them hold me back. I would simply get back up and keep moving forward. This strength and determination are the unique qualities I bring to every activity I undertake

5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?
The main virtue any woman must have to be an international model is self-belief. It’s a tough industry where you’ll hear ‘no’ more often than ‘yes,’ but you must always believe in yourself and keep pushing forward. Never give up

6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Although it’s still surreal to think that people see me as a role model, I am deeply committed to being one. Growing up, there weren’t many plus-size role models, and I want to change that narrative. I want to show everyone that no matter the size of your body or the weight of your mental health struggles, your dreams are within reach if you pursue them with passion and determination. My mission is to inspire and encourage every person to chase their dreams relentlessly, proving that nothing can stand in the way of those who truly believe in themselves

7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
The first time I modeled in front of a video camera, I was very insecure and had no idea what I was doing. Thankfully, the photographer was incredibly supportive and made me feel comfortable. Now, when I stand in front of a camera, I feel strong and empowered.

My first beauty pageant experience, on the other hand, felt surreal. As a plus-size woman, I never imagined I could participate in something like that. It was like living in a fairytale. The sisterhood within the pageant world is incredible, and the personal growth I’ve experienced thanks to the support of the organizations is beyond words. It truly felt like a childhood dream coming true—after all, what little girl hasn’t dreamed of being a princess? And I got to live that dream, even calling myself a queen

8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
I see social media as a double-edged sword. On one hand, it has incredible power to connect us globally, which is invaluable in pageantry for spreading your message and building a supportive community. However, it’s also a very dangerous space—what you see isn’t always real or truthful, leading to insecurities, especially among young people. This is something I hope will change. That’s why I make it a point to share both the highs and the lows of life, to show that not everything is perfect or glamorous. It’s important to me that people see the reality behind the images, and understand that everyone has struggles, no matter how polished their social media might appear.

9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
My favorite platform to post on is Instagram because it allows me to share a curated blend of images, stories, and messages with my followers. I love engaging with them through comments, direct messages, and stories where I can share more personal moments. Although I’m a bit addicted to TikTok, I’m still figuring out how to navigate creating and posting videos there. It’s a fun challenge, and I’m excited to explore it more as I connect with my followers in different ways

10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?

For the young people:
I know how scary it can be to take that first step toward your dreams. But remember, you’ve got the talent, and it would be a real shame not to use it. It’s normal to have doubts, but don’t let them stop you. Believe in yourself, keep pushing forward, and know that you can achieve great things. Every challenge you face is a step closer to your goals. Your passion and skills are worth fighting for, so go for it with everything you’ve got.

For the parents:
As a parent, you have the power to be a huge source of support and encouragement for your kids. The world can be tough enough, so don’t add to their struggles by holding back your support. Even if you don’t fully understand their dreams, stand by them. Be their cheerleader and their safe place when things get hard. Your belief and support can make all the difference and strengthen your relationship. By backing your child’s dreams, you help them grow and keep your bond strong.

11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
One crucial lesson I’ve learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants is that your problems do not define you; your strength does. Despite the challenges of living with PTSD, I’ve been able to achieve multiple titles, including international ones, and form lifelong friendships. The journey has shown me that even in the face of personal struggles, it’s possible to accomplish amazing things and embrace opportunities. Experiences like this interview are a testament to the fact that your resilience and determination can shine through, regardless of the obstacles you face.

12.- Naomi, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
To be honest, being a model has been far from easy. Beyond the personal struggles of PTSD, I’ve faced challenges in proving myself as a plus-size model, as acceptance for this body type is still limited in the fashion industry. Fortunately, I have the support of a wonderful agency, BePretty, that stands by me and helps wherever they can.
While I encounter numerous obstacles on my journey as both a beauty queen and a model, I try to view these challenges as stepping stones. I stay resilient, keep believing in myself, and continue pushing forward. With determination and support, I’m confident I’ll achieve my goals.

13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
To be honest, I haven’t thought about acting a lot, but the idea does sound exciting. Right now, I’m busy with some upcoming adventures and projects. And just as a fun side note—if Netflix ever gets curious about my life, I’d be open to the idea of making a series out of it! (Just kidding, but it would be fun!)

14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
The future of women is incredibly hopeful, even in places where they still face abuse and inequality. Women everywhere are demonstrating incredible strength and resilience. As more women step up and fight for their rights, they inspire change and make strides toward equality. I believe that in the future, women will play a crucial role in transforming societies, breaking down barriers, and leading with compassion and determination. Their courage and efforts will not only improve their own lives but will also pave the way for a fairer, more just world for everyone. The path might be tough, but the impact of women’s progress will be profound and far-reaching.

15.- Naomi, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation comes from a deep sense of purpose and the support I receive from my loved ones. Every day, I feel incredibly grateful for my parents and my dogs. My parents have always been a source of unwavering support and encouragement, while my dogs bring joy and comfort into my life. Their presence reminds me of the love and strength that surrounds me, fueling my drive to keep pursuing my goals and making a positive impact.

16.- Naomi, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?

Do I like to travel?
Absolutely, I love traveling! Although I haven’t had many opportunities to travel extensively until recently—since I just overcame my fear of flying—I’ve managed to visit some amazing places. So far, I’ve been to the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain, England, and the USA.

Countries I’ve visited and those I’d like to explore:
Currently, I hold the title of Miss Voluptuous Europe, so I’m especially excited to explore more countries across Europe. Through my international pageant experience, I’ve made many wonderful connections worldwide and I look forward to visiting my global sisters, including a trip to New Zealand!

Places to visit in the Netherlands:
For anyone planning to visit the Netherlands, I highly recommend exploring beyond Amsterdam. While Amsterdam is fantastic, the country has so much more to offer. Consider visiting Giethoorn, known for its picturesque canals; Rotterdam, with its modern architecture; Volendam, a charming fishing village; and the Veluwe, a beautiful nature reserve. Additionally, since I also hold the title of Miss Tourism, feel free to reach out if you need a guide around the Netherlands—I’d be delighted to show you around!

18.- Naomi, your last words or final tips

Don’t let anyone or anything hold you back or tell you that it’s impossible. And if you ever feel like you lack support, know that I’m here as your cheerleader. I’ll be there to encourage and inspire you as you pursue your dreams. Keep pushing forward, and remember that your strength and perseverance will lead you to success.
