1. – Kelly, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I was born and raised in Heerlen, a small city in the south of the Netherlands. In my neighborhood everyone knows each other and helps each other out. It is a little community. The thing I love is that it is very close to the borders of Belgium and Germany, which makes traveling really easy.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
One of my biggest passions is dancing. It gives me peace of mind and a chance to let my creativity flow.
If I am not dancing, I am either cooking , singing or both at the same time haha! Singing gives me the opportunity to put my feelings into words. Cooking gives me joy, as I try to create healthy meals and new recipes. In the last year and a half, I lost about 45 kilograms through changing my meals and exercise. So creating a new healthy recipe gives me joy.
3.-International Model, Miss Universe Limburg 2025 Finalist. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
If you told me 2 years ago I would be standing here today, I wouldn’t have believed you. After my weight loss, something in me clicked. I wanted to show the world that beauty has no size.
Beauty isn’t just skin deep. It is who you are, what you stand for and the energy that you radiate. It doesn’t matter what your size is. So I wanted to be an example and inspiration for girls like me, who aren’t tall, skinny or petite. So many times in life I have felt rejected based on my size, I wanted it to stop there and make a statement. We are all equal and beauty is everywhere, from there it all went uphill. I got welcomed in to the pageant world with open arms.
Of course I did receive critiques at first, mainly from strangers on social media, but even though it did hurt, I didn’t let it get in my way. I had a dream to achieve, and I am so happy I persevered.
I’m proud of what I achieved and how I pushed myself. What I feel the most? Gratitude. I am so thankful for everyone who supported me.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Kelly in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
I try to stay as humble as I can. My main goal is to inspire others in a unique way.
In my activities I always try to incorporate my catchphrase, which is ‘Kindness is key’. And I will always stand by that.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
I think it is definitely respect. Respect the photographer, but also yourself. It is okay to have a different opinion, but stay calm and respectful. You can compromise, but never go past your boundaries.
Good social skills are always hand, this helps you network.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Sometimes it slips my mind how many girls might be looking up to me. Because for me an ‘idol’ is someone who is super famous, which I am not haha! But for the girls and teenagers that do look up to me, I hope to be an inspiration.
It is really important for me to be a role model. I want to give them an example and show them how great things can get if you believe in yourself and just fight for what you stand for. You are you and that is your power. You are so much more than your insecurities
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
The very first time modeling I was so nervous! I practiced my facial expressions and poses weeks before, but suddenly… when the camera was in my face I forgot all of them. Luckily the photographer really put me at ease and helped me. He boosted my confidence and within 20 minutes I took over and started doing my poses.
My first pageant was Miss Beauty of Limburg. I will never forget it. I really doubted to compete, my insecurity took over. But the Organization really talked me in to it and I decided to give it a chance. Best decision of my life! It was a rollercoaster sometimes, because you constantly push yourself out of your comfort zone. But the growth as a person, and as a woman? Priceless. I am still so thankful for that.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
In my opinion, social media has 2 sides. It has the dangerous side. This is the side that breaks my heart. The side where I see people tear each other down in comments, make hateful videos, spread false information, spread fake/highly photoshopped pictures. It makes people insecure and sad.. As for the highly photoshopped pictures, it just sets such an unrealistic image for young influenceable teenagers.
We should be more careful with the words we use online, because we never know what it might do to another person. This is the danger of social media. The brighter side of social media is definitely the reach that you have. You can easily spread a positive message through a platform and it will reach thousands. This also applies for charity fundraisers. The most important part for me is the influence you can have, the example you can be.
I try to be as real as possible, so that the younger generation knows it is okay to have a pimple, a few extra pounds, a bad hair day. I often share quotes, so my followers can think about certain aspects of life. For me the most important message to bring is: It is your heart that matters. I really want to inspire people to be kinder to one another and promote equality.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I mostly use Instagram. I love sharing pictures, videos or just a story. Sometimes I will do a Q&A with my followers so they can ask me some questions they have. Spreading positivity and boosting confidence is also a really important aspect to me.
So I will check my followers profiles every now and then and leave a positive comment under their post.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
This is a tough question. I can only speak from my point of view and experience. I started pageantry when I was 27 years old. I was the oldest one in my category. For some pageants I was already too old.
There were so many times I wished I started earlier. I let my insecurities get the best of me and waited too long to compete. If you have the talent, the dream and the passion, please do never second guess yourself and go for it! It is better to have an opportunity to learn from, then a ‘What if…’.
As for the parents question… I understand that some passions of your child might not be what you have hoped or dreamed about, but try to be there for them. Show up. Your support means everything for them and can make or break their confidence. Be aware of that. Try to talk with them and let them share their joy in their talents. Joy is infectious 😊
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
The biggest wake up call/lesson was definitely : Your insecurities are totally unnecessary.
Believe in your own strengths. You start to glow different when you believe in yourself.
Next tot that, the things that you don’t like about your appearance, might just attract someone else.
12.- Kelly, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
Being a model definitely comes with obstacles, and I think every model can agree on this.
The modeling industry is a tough business because you are literally being judged on your appearance.
You will either fit their brand/vision or not. So you will definitely face rejections.
Additionally, you really have to be careful who you work with. Not every photographer has the best intentions unfortunately. Thoroughly check their social media, website and portfolio.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
I would love that actually! I did do a few background roles in a movie and tv show. I’m still trying to get in the business and get an actual role with lines.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
Firstly, I would like to applaud the women who find the courage to escape these kind of societies. It is not easy and takes a lot of bravery.
In an ideal world, I would love to see everyone treated equally and with respect. I hope this is something we can achieve in the future. Abuse is and never will be okay.

15.- Kelly, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
Every day I wake up, I have a roof over my head. I have running water, I have a fridge full of food. I get to go to work. This seems so normal for everyone, but in Africa and Asia, there are still girls and women that have to walk 7 kilometers for water, have no access to toilets and sanitary products.
They are being ‘sextorted’ for water and can’t get an education because they have to walk for water.
I am feeling so grateful that I can help them through Simavi, the charity we support during our Miss Universe Limburg journey
16.- Kelly, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I do like to travel! I have been to a lot of places.
The best trip I have done is Marrakech. Morocco is such a beautiful country. The architecture of the mosques, the kindness of the people, the delicious food and the handmade trinkets. I would definitely visit again when I get the chance. The places in the Netherlands to visit would be:
-Amsterdam (The city center is really big and international + The Anne Frank Museum is really impressive)
-Veluwe (The nature and tranquility here is so relaxing)
