1. – Kayleigh , tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I was born in Blaricum in the Netherlands. I lived here until I was 2, after this we moved to Sweden, where I was raised. I grew up there on a moose farm, which was founded by my parents. Growing up on a farm with moose and alpacas made me different from the rest, no one had the same experiences as me. I grew up in Sweden with my 2 little sisters and brother. It was like growing up in a fairytale, we had a lot of space to develop ourselves. I am really grateful for this experience my parents gave me.
When I turned 8 we moved to the Netherlands again, because my parents thought we could create a better future here. At first it was really difficult for me to adjust, I was a bit of an outsider. When I moved to my hometown I live in now, everything changed. I made friends on the second day of attending to my new school. I still am best friends with those girls, even tho we all go to different schools now. I am really grateful for my friendship with them. I will forever cherish the life my parents gave me by moving to Sweden and then back to the Netherlands, it’s a once in a lifetime experience which I will never forget.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
One of my hobbies is spending time with my family and friends. I am so grateful for the people I have around me. My best friend never fails to make me laugh. I think spending time with your loved ones is one of the most important things in life, as it gives you a lot of joy.
Another hobby of mine is exercising, it always gives me a feeling of self-fulfillment and energy. When I am exercising I get to forget all my emotions and just enjoy the moment. I do a lot of cardio, but also strength training. The endorphins I get by this, makes me feel energetic and happy after every workout.
3.-International Model, Miss Beauty of Gelderland 2025 Finalist. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I always liked taking photos and looking at models as a child. I remember watching the Victoria’s Secret show at only 5 years old. The first steps I took concerning beauty pageants took place this November. I already followed the Instragram of Miss Beauty of the Netherlands, but then I was scouted by Miss Teen of Gelderland 2024! So I got into the beauty pageants by being scouted. This felt unreal and already as an achievement.
I love everything we do surrounding the pageants, the trainings to become a miss, charity’s and making new friends. I am really grateful to be in the position I am in at the moment. The pageants already make me feel like a whole different person, in the most positive way possible!
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Kayleigh in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
I have a ‘Café-au-lait’ mark on my cheeck. As a child I was really self-concsious about it. Now I am older, I have developed myself to love and embrace it. It really is something that makes me special. I want others to also feel special and not ‘weird’ by having special features on their body. I think my self-development shows in everything I do because I want people to know that I am proud of it, so they also know they should be proud of themselves.
5.- What is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?
Confidence is key! I think having confidence is really important as a model. Of course, every person has something they don’t like about themselves, but a bit of confidence is a must. People always have negative comments and things they don’t like about you, so you should be able to stand your ground and know your worth.
I also think having your heart in the right place is an important thing to have when you are a model. I want to show people to love themselves and to never compare yourself to others.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Yes, it means the world to me to be able to show girls and teenagers the things I do. With the things I do I want to show them to always love yourself the way you are. I did not always do this, because as a small girl other children would tell me the mark on my cheek was “weird”. But like I said, I have grown to become a woman who embraces it. I want other girls and especially teenagers to be able to feel the same way. I am aware that teenagers are really vulnerable and easily compare themselves on social media in a negative way, so with my role as Miss Beauty of Gelderland Finalist I want to show them to love themselves the way they are.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
Excitement! The first shoot was such a fun and exciting experience. The photographer was really kind and understanding, the girls who helped me with poses were also the sweetest girls ever!
It is at the moment my first time in a beauty pageant and I love it. I have just started a bit longer than a month ago and I am already developing myself. All the other girls are really sweet and loving, the managers are really kind and understanding, and everyone else involved are also people with their hearts in the right place. It really is an environment full of love and positivity. I feel a lot of love and excitement in the pageant world
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
I think the power of social media is terribly underestimated by a lot of people. Social media is something almost everyone experiences during the day. People are being influenced by it, unconsciously and consciously. It can have a positive effect on a lot of people, but if we are not careful enough it can also bring a load of negativity.
I am convinced that social media can help girls develop themselves and can help them in tough times, but I am also concerned about the strong power it has seeing that a lot of girls also get negative self-image because of it. If we use social media in the right way, I think the power of social media can help a lot of people in many ways.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I like to post on Instagram and Facebook, and I also talk with followers on dm if they text me! I like having conversations with followers because they are often asking questions about my participation in Miss Beauty of Gelderland. My favorite social media is definitely Instagram!
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
Start with taking small steps! Make sure you are always comfortable with the steps you take and take them at your own pace. If you are not ready for something, do not do it.
I think a parent should always be supportive of their child, but I would advise to get to understand your child (‘s talent) first. If they understand their child, it is a lot easier to talk with them and to become supportive of their talents
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
That you should always go with something that suits you and what you are comfortable with! Don’t wear something just because it is trending, but instead choose something that suits you. It makes you shine a lot more!
Beauty pageants has really made me realize that everyone has their own story and everyone has a sparkle inside of them. Sometimes we just have to work hard to let the sparkle shine.
12.- Kayleigh, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
I don’t think being a model is easy for anyone. It is really challenging to make sure you have the right facial expressions and poses. At the moment, I have not been faced with any obstacles yet because I have just started. But I am sure I will face a lot of obstacles in the future, which with a lot of hard work I will overcome.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
I have thought about it as a child, I always wanted to become a Nickelodeon actress. So I really like the entertainment industry and I would want to take part of it. Only not as an actress, I think modeling and other kinds of shows would fit me better.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I hope that modernization will help these women reach independency and equal rights. I think it is outrageous that there isn’t equal treatment for women everywhere in the world, so I hope we will reach equality as quick as possible. These women should be able to reach for their dreams and live their life’s without pain and mistreatment.
15.- Kayleigh, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation are my privileges. I am aware of the world and I know that a lot of people don’t have the same chances as I have. This motivates me to always try hard an to make the best of my life. I am really grateful for all the opportunities my parents gave me. I am also grateful for my family, my friends and everything else in my life.
16.- Kayleigh, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
Yes!! I love traveling, I have visited a lot of countries in Europe already and some places in the Unites States of America. I would love to visit Africa and Asia, I want to see as much of the world as possible during my lifetime.
I would recommend visiting Amsterdam, the city Groningen, the Wadden eilanden and Giethoorn!
