1.- Jing, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
Thank you for asking Jaime. I was born in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province in China. When I was 15 months old I was adopted by Dutch parents, so I grew up in a different city which is called Middelburg.
What I like about Middelburg, is that it’s not too big and a lot of people know each other. I’m still in touch with some of my high school friends and the city does really feal like a home.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
Things I like to do in my time off are going out for dinner with friends, I love myself some good food and the company of loved ones around me. Although I know this is not a real hobby maybe, it does give me joy!
I also like to work out and do running or rollerblading sometimes, it takes my mind off of things and gives me energy. And lately I’ve been trying to read more again, I used to do this a lot more when I was younger and it gave me so much pleasure. I hope to catch that feeling again.
3.- International Model – Miss Universe Zeeland 2025 Finalist . When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
Personally, I wouldn’t say I’m a recognized influencer woman today. But I do appreciate the way you’re looking at this.
Last year I got scouted for this pageant, before I’ve never thought about this to be honest. I had to think about it a little bit, because it’s something very out of my comfort zone and I didn’t really see myself in this world.
But until now I’m glad that I am a part of this journey and it already gives me so much energy and positive vibes.
I learn so much already, also from all the other beautiful women in our team. It’s a real honor to be part in this Pageant and journey.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Jing in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
What I hope that the unique stamp of me is, is that I come across as authentic and real. I try to see the positive in things and to spread positivity around me.
I believe that the solution is not about who’s right and who’s wrong, but I believe in looking for solutions and making the best of it together.
I also try to be open minded, to be curious and learn. Because that’s what’s beautiful about our life, is that we can keep learning and educate ourself about things we don’t know.
This is something I hope to carry out.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
The main virtue, good question…I would say kindness and self confidence. Probably something that’s being said a lot, but I do think these are important things. Be kind and confident, because if you don’t believe in yourself, who will?
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
I’m not aiming to be an idol, I think that is a very big thing to say. Nevertheless, if young girls do look at me, I hope that they don’t look up to me and that they get a feeling that they matter too. That everyone is unique and that they are just on the verge on discovering their selves.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
The feeling that I had when this beauty pageant started was a mix of excitement and insecure. Because this is all quite new, it’s something I still try to find my way of working it. But I’m very grateful for the opportunity.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
The power of social media today can be very tough, especially on younger women. But I catch myself also noticing that I’m quite easily distracted by all the beautiful pictures and videos on social media as well.
I also need to remind myself that most of the time it’s our best side we want to share on social media, and that the reality can be different.
So as long as we’re aware of this difference and we keep reminding each other about this, I hope we also can still enjoy social media. Because it can also inspire you in good ways, we just need to try to relativize it.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
The platform I’m most active on, is Instagram. I do like to support other followers and to spread positive vibes on this. I sometimes direct message with followers but also just likes and responses on content they make. It’s nice to see what other creators do and to be inspired by them.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
Tough question, I have no kids myself, so it’s hard for me to answer because I’m not in a position like that to truly know how that feels.
But I would advise kids and parents to talk with each other and really listen. Why does your kid want this and why do you feel resentment against it. Try to find do some professional research on world and the field they would be involved in. Educate yourself and put yourself in their shoes.
Explain to them why you feel about things and make sure you are there for them in every step of the way. I feel like if you’re open and you share your feelings with your kid, you hopefully create an understanding.
As from the kids’ perspective, try to explain to your parents why you want something. Give examples or start with smaller steps.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
Everyone is unique, I think I’ve seen this answer before. But it’s true, I think that it’s not about comparing, but about lifting each other up and supporting one another. Everyone has their own strengths and battles.
12.- Jing, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
I’m not sure this question is very accurate, I wouldn’t say it has been easy these past weeks. Although it has been a lot of fun and I try my best to just do it and just go with the flow.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Only in my dreams, I don’t know if I can act. But if the chance would come up, I would definitely love to try!
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
This is a really big question, my opinion in the role of women in the future would be that I hope that every woman dares to speak out if necessary. That women are being heard and taken seriously.
Women have been very important key figures throughout history and they still will be. Because we all need to do it together.
I’d hope people would be more open minded, listen to each other and work together. Empowering women will always be an important topic and we need to keep striving for this.
15.- Jing, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation is love and adventure, I love my family, my friends, my pets and to be around them. From heart to heart conversations, to chit chatting. I’m grateful to have a lot of wonderful people around me who make my life so much more fun.
For me it’s the small things, giving spontaneous gifts, compliments or just doing something for someone without asking. Sending a message that you think about someone, wishing them good luck or just checking in.
I’m also grateful to have a voice, and to be allowed to have one. The Netherlands is overall a safe country where you won’t be prosecuted for anything you say, so I’m definitely grateful to live in a country like this.
16.- Jing, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
Yes, I love to travel, to discover new places and meet new people. And to focus especially on different cultures and learn from them. I have been in several countries in Europe, but also in China and the United States.
Europe for me is the easiest to travel around, as a European we are lucky enough to be able to travel around easily. Every country is different and has their unique identity. I love to taste the food everywhere, because I think that food is something that tells so much about a culture.
When it comes to the United States, this is such a big country. Every state on itself has its own viewpoint and identity as well. It’s a whole different world and society compared to ours, but I do think there’s a lot to learn and share between each other.
China has been a while, but when I was younger, we travelled here more often. My Dutch parents wanted to show me as a kid where I came from and to learn about this culture. I really appreciate that they were able to do this, because I have a lot of memories from that time.
I hope that I’m able to keep travelling a lot the upcoming years, and to learn more about other cultures and discover new places.
About the Netherlands I appreciate our nature as well, I live close to the sea which I like. It gives me a sense of freedom. We also have a lot of nice cities, with a lot of historical backgrounds. Every province has their own unique selling points, which I’m happy to show to you!
