1.- Hodan, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I was born in Buurhakaba, Somalia. I moved to the Netherlands with my family when I was 9 or 10 years old. What I miss the most is my grandmother; she passed away when we moved. I also miss playing outside with my friends. Buurhakaba is special to me because of its close-knit community, vibrant markets, and beautiful landscapes. The smell of traditional Somali food brings back warm memories of my childhood.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
My hobby is being outside and doing fun activities like shopping, eating, and spending time with my loved ones. Being around my favorite people brings me a lot of joy and makes me laugh.
3.-International Model, Miss Planet International Somalia 2024. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
As a little girl, I always wanted to be a model or be on TV. However, my strict parents never allowed it. I signed up for Miss Planet International as a joke and didn’t expect to be accepted. My parents initially knew nothing about it. I’m very happy with my decision to participate and pursue my dreams. It’s even more rewarding that I have finally been able to get my parents’ support.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Hodan in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
Since this is my first time participating in a pageant, I believe my unique stamp is my fresh perspective and authenticity. I am committed to staying true to myself and sharing my own voice and experiences. My background and personal journey provide me with a distinctive view, allowing me to make genuine connections and inspire others through my unique approach and enthusiasm.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
One of the main virtues that an international model must have is resilience. The modeling industry can be challenging and demanding, requiring perseverance and the ability to handle criticism constructively. Resilience helps a model stay focused on her goals, adapt to various situations, and maintain a positive attitude despite setbacks.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Yes, I am aware that my role is influential for many girls who want to become models. It is very important to me to be a positive example and to inspire them to pursue their dreams with confidence.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
The first time I modeled in front of a video camera, I felt thrilled and excited. Posing with a smile came naturally, and I really enjoyed the experience. I haven’t yet participated in a beauty pageant, but I look forward to the new challenges and opportunities it will bring.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media has immense influence it connects people, amplifies voices, and builds communities. It can drive positive change but also poses challenges like misinformation and image pressure.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I love engaging with my followers through comments, direct messages, and live sessions. This helps me connect with them personally and understand their perspectives. My favorite social media platform is Instagram because it’s visual and interactive, allowing me to share stories and build a genuine connection with my followers.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
I would advise young people to be courageous and pursue their dreams without hesitation. Challenge yourself and don’t be discouraged by others opinions you can’t please everyone. Stay focused on your goals and believe in your own path.
For parents, I recommend having open conversations with their children, taking their talents seriously and offering support. Never give up on communicating with them and keep pushing forward.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
Although I haven’t started the competition yet and am still in the preparation phase, I’ve already learned valuable lessons. I’ve discovered that confidence and thorough preparation are key to success. The process has also taught me the importance of professionalism and resilience, even before the competition begins. Additionally, I’ve realized that authenticity and staying true to oneself are crucial for making a strong impression in the world of fashion and beauty pageants.
12.- Hodan, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles?How did you overcome obstacles?
I’m still in the preparation phase and haven’t had extensive experience as a model yet. So far, I’ve faced challenges related to preparing and developing my skills. I’m overcoming these by working hard, improving my abilities, and seeking advice and support from friends and family.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Although I considered acting as a child, I’ve realized over time that it’s not the right path for me. I find the entertainment industry interesting but I’m now focusing on other passions and opportunities that better align with my goals.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
While women worldwide have made significant progress, there are still societies where they face abuse and limited rights. I believe that through education and awareness, the role of women in these societies can improve in the future. It is essential to continue advocating for their rights and working towards positive change, so women everywhere can fully contribute to their communities and be treated with the respect they deserve.
15.- Hodan, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation comes from my desire to make a positive impact and inspire others. Every day, I am grateful for the opportunity to wake up, be healthy, and be surrounded by my family and friends who encourage me to pursue my dreams. I also appreciate the chances I have to grow and learn, which drive me to continually strive for excellence in everything I do. Praise be to God
16.- Hodan, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I absolutely love the idea of traveling, and exploring the world is one of my favorite hobbies. The funny thing is, I haven’t had the chance to travel much yet. My first trip was to Milan, Italy, for a school excursion, but I don’t really count that as true travel. I’m excited to start discovering new countries and cultures, like Cambodia, which offers a fascinating glimpse into its rich heritage and natural beauty.
