The world of beauty pageants has always been associated with glamour, discipline, international opportunities and personal growth. For thousands of young women, being part of this industry represents a dream — a platform that opens doors and experiences that can transform their lives. However, behind the crowns, lights and sparkling gowns, there is a reality that is rarely spoken about: the existence of unethical pageant directors who take advantage of contestants’ dreams for their own financial and personal gain.

My book “Beauty Pageant Directors Who Are Scammers”, available on Amazon KDP, was created out of the need to address this issue honestly. Not to attack the industry, but to protect it — and protect the girls and women who trust it. With more than a decade working with international models, queens, agencies and organizations, I have witnessed patterns of behavior that put contestants and families at serious risk, especially those who don’t fully understand how the system works behind the scenes.

This article will not reveal the specifics of the book, but it will introduce the problem that so many ignore or choose to remain silent about. Every year, hundreds of young contestants are deceived by pageants that promise international trips, high-level training, media exposure, or “exclusive opportunities” that never existed in the first place. Scamming directors thrive on emotion, ambition and lack of information, charging exaggerated fees for registrations, sashes, mandatory outfits, photoshoots, and packages that have no real value.

Their method is often the same: direct messages on social media, vague casting invitations, personalized messages that make the candidate feel “chosen,” and emotional persuasion designed to lower defenses. Many use names similar to legitimate pageants or invent “international titles” to make their event look more credible. The most alarming part is that when a contestant questions the process or tries to withdraw, the director resorts to psychological pressure, manipulation or intimidation to force continued payment.

The consequences go far beyond money. Realizing you have been scammed can be emotionally devastating for teenagers, young women and families who invested time, trust and hope into what they believed was a real opportunity. The disappointment, embarrassment, fear of speaking out and feeling of being used are emotional wounds many keep to themselves. And that silence is exactly what allows these directors to continue operating freely.

This is why learning to recognize the warning signs is essential. Not all organizations are harmful — in fact, there are many transparent, ethical and professional pageants around the world that genuinely support empowerment and development. The danger lies in entering a competition without verifying its legitimacy, contracts, reputation or leadership. A lack of information is the perfect environment for scammers to thrive.

The purpose of the book is to fill that gap: to provide a clear, realistic and easy-to-understand guide to identifying risky patterns before a participant becomes a victim. This is not about destroying the industry; it is about restoring its integrity. Contestants deserve a safe, honest and empowering environment where their dreams are respected — not exploited.

If you are a parent, aspiring contestant, model, current queen, coach or simply someone who follows the beauty pageant world, understanding this information is invaluable. Prevention is always the strongest protection, and knowing how scamming directors operate can be the difference between an enriching experience and one marked by frustration.

“Beauty Pageant Directors Who Are Scammers” is an essential read for anyone who wants to enter the pageant world informed, prepared and protected — without losing the true essence of what these platforms should represent.
