1. – Ashley, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?

I was born and raised in North Brabant, in the city Eindhoven. It’s known as the city of lights (thanks to Philips) and PSV, our beloved football club. Eindhoven is a compact and cozy city where everything is within reach, and there’s always something going on. It’s a great place to live! Especially for students.

2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?

From a young age, I quickly discovered that being creative is one of my passions.

Additionally, sports are a crucial part of my life. Without sports, I would become depressed… I love to move, at least every day if possible. I can’t imagine how boring life would be without sports. Dancing, running, figure skating, multiple martial arts including my main sport, kickboxing – I can’t get enough. I aspire to be able to do and have done every sport.

Being creative and doing sports always makes me happy and fulfilled.

3.- International Model – Miss Beauty of Noord-Brabant 2025 Finalist . When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?

2022 and 2023 were really tough years for me. A lot happened during those years. I lost myself completely. I had no energy at all. I lost a lot of weight because of stress. I was really insecure. This was because of other people’s opinions and actions that I took very seriously, and also because of some things I was struggling with myself. I’ll come back to that later in the interview.

At the end of summer 2023, when I was feeling really down, my aunt, Latoya Rafaela, had a great idea: a girls’ night in! We were going to watch Holland’s Next Top Model together. The next day, we would take some nice pictures of me to cheer me up. I posted those pictures on Instagram, uncertain about what people would think. I actually got quite a few likes, even though I never posted anything on Instagram before because I was ashamed of myself. Unfortunately, there were also a lot of mean and negative comments about me. For the first time in my life, I didn’t care. After a while, several photographers contacted me. From there, everything just happened naturally. I’ve modeled for Bruut/Vans and Puma/Snipes. I’ve had several bookings and collaborations. I’m super proud of how far I’ve come in half a year.

Then, around the end of October 2023, I was also invited to the casting day of Miss Beauty of North Brabant. At first, I thought it was a scam email, but no, it was real. I made it to the bikini round, but unfortunately, I went home in tears. Because of the Miss pageant and how I felt, I decided to work really hard on myself over the past year. I didn’t want to do it again, but after working on myself for a while, I realized that I could grow a lot through this process, especially my feminine side. In the end, I decided to give it another chance, and here I am now, a finalist for Miss Beauty of North Brabant.

Be yourself, be unique, and you’ll go far with whatever you want to do.

Normally, I don’t pay attention to negative things and people, but for once, I want to say this. I congratulate the people who wanted to see me fail, because I did fall, but you forget that after falling, you get back up. Unfortunately, I never give up, that’s a Dankers thing 😉

4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Ashley in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?

My face card. The accident I had, which I wanted to come back to later in this interview. I had an accident when I was 8 years old involving my face. I was bitten in the face. This changed my appearance and self-esteem. Fortunately, the doctors at the time were very good and were able to repair it quickly. I believe everything happens for a reason. That’s what makes me unique. Your face is one of the most important things about yourself.

5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?

Don’t copy! Just be yourself, be unique, and if you only do it to impress others or to be like them, you won’t get anywhere. Sometimes things just aren’t meant for you. You might want to be something, but it might not be the right fit. Choose something you’re passionate about, and you’ll go far in life.

6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?

Yes, I already get a lot of questions even though I haven’t been doing this for very long. People ask me how I got here, but it just kind of happened. When I was younger, I never thought I’d be interesting to people in the modeling world. I wanted to be a vet when I was eight, a dancer when I was eleven, and a fighter when I was sixteen. Later, I was focused on becoming a tattoo artist, but other things came up and I just went with the flow. Life can be strange, but enjoy it. Everything happens for a reason.

7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?

I was scared and insecure about so many people looking at me. Also, on the first pageant casting day, I was standing there with shaky legs, super scared. But I was also really excited, so I had mixed feelings about it. It was also really fun!

8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?

I think it’s a great platform for marketing, but I also believe it’s incredibly dangerous, especially for younger generations. They are constantly exposed to unrealistic beauty standards, which can lead to insecurity and unhealthy behaviors, such as cosmetic surgery at a young age. It’s important to remember that social media often presents an idealized version of reality. Don’t let it make you feel inadequate. Most people don’t look like the highly edited photos you see online.

9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?

My favorite social media platform is Instagram. I enjoy helping and inspiring others, and that’s my goal with everything I do. I’m ready to prove that the ideal image isn’t everything, and I hope to make a positive impact on the world and inspire younger generations. Even if I only inspire one person, I’ll consider that a huge success.

10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?

Hardly said, but JUST DON’T CARE. Even if your parents don’t support you, go ahead and do what you want! It’s your life, you decide, and you only live once. Never give up, even if things aren’t working out immediately. Just take your chances. You’ll never get that time back, so make the most of it.

11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?

It’s not just about looking good; you need to work hard, train every day, and be cautious. Watch out for the wrong photographers and the wrong people. Some people only want to exploit you or manipulate you for their own benefit. Sadly, there are many bad people in the world, and things are getting worse. My parents always warned me about this.

A good example to research is the tragic death of Dutch model Ivana Smith in Malaysia. It’s a heartbreaking story that highlights the dangers that can arise. I want to help young people understand the risks of associating with the wrong people. Remember, if you don’t want to do something, don’t do it. I don’t want to scare you, but it’s important to be aware of the harsh realities of the world.

12.- Ashley, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles?

How Nothing is easy. Everyone has to start somewhere. It’s tough at first because you don’t know anyone and you lack experience. You need to train hard, both physically and mentally.

13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?

Yes! One of my dreams is to act in a horror movie. I love movies and stories, especially those by Tim Burton and films like Saw, Terrifier, It, and Freddy Krueger. Even as a young child of six, I wasn’t allowed to watch these movies, but I did anyway. I really enjoyed them. I also loved Disney movies as a kid, so it would be fun to be in one of those someday. While it’s not my main goal, I’d definitely take the opportunity if it came up. It sounds like a lot of fun.

14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?

Worldwide, women have made significant strides in recent decades, breaking down barriers and achieving remarkable feats. However, it’s disheartening to see that in some societies, women still face discrimination, abuse, and limited opportunities.

I believe that women have the potential to play an even greater role in the future, contributing to society in countless ways. As we continue to challenge gender stereotypes and advocate for equality, I hope to see a world where women are empowered to reach their full potential.

Personally, I’ve encountered obstacles along the way, but I’ve always been determined to overcome them. It’s important to persevere, to believe in yourself, and to seek support from others. By working together, we can create a more equitable and just future for all.

15.- Ashley, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?

I’m grateful that I can eat, walk, play sports, dance, sing, learn, have a roof over my head, and go wherever I want. These may seem like simple things, but many people can’t do or have these things, so be grateful for what you can do and have.

16.- Ashley, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?

I would love to travel more. I’ve been to Turkey many times, as well as Spain, Paris, and Greece. I don’t know why, but I’d love to live in a different country. I enjoy learning about new cultures, languages, and people. It excites me.

If you ever visit the Netherlands, I recommend visiting Efteling, the PSV stadium, and cities like Amsterdam and Eindhoven. It’s a fun country, but the weather can be quite cold and rainy, so be sure to pack warm clothes.

17.- You and me (Jaime William) are going to play ping pong, I will tell you one word and you will answer with another word that comes to your mind.
