1. – Ashley, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I am actually from a really small town called Hoeven. I was born and raised there. Making beautifull memories and traditions with my beloved family. I grew up with a quite bussy home, my parents, brother, my oma (grandma) and dog. What I like most about my hometown is the traditions we have, we are passionate about carnaval!
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
I am actually a designer by heart. It all started making little doll clothes with my mom at just the age of 4. And now I make my own gowns and outfits. It’s a creative outlet for me.
3.-International Model, Miss Voluptuous International 2024 – Miss International Rolemodel 2024. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I grew to love pageants as a makeup artist for many years now, being behind the scenes making sure every single girl looked and felt her best self. Untill I got scouted to participate myself in a national pageant. I decided to just go for it, and participate to gain confidence. And it turned out amazing winning the national pageant Miss Curve Nederland 2022. From that I participated in Miss Voluptuous Netherlands winning Miss Europe, and from Europe to now Miss Voluptuous International, International rolemodel. Achieving this dream title has been unreal. Giving me the opportunity to really make a change and leave a legacy speaking up for SA survivors and humantrafficking survivors. That’s a dream coming true.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Ashley in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
What makes me unique is my determination and creative mind. My mind never stops creating new ideas and ways to grow even more as a person but also to help others grow. My determination and creativity helped me make my own podcast heroes of our own story. Where I share the storys of SA and humantrafficking survivors. Everything I do or create, I leave a little me in there and do with so much love and passion. And I guess that gives it that unique Ashley Anna stamp.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
Confidence , the right mindset and self love ! These things are so needed to be a International Model or International miss. You have to feel like a queen before you become one! Wear that invisible crown!!
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
I am aware that having such a big platform or title you really have a rolemodel function. And I am so passionate to be so. I am passionate to leave my knowledge to others. Help them grow to be the beautiful person they are.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
It actually felt really natural to me! Being on stage or infront of the camera is my most confident version actually! I’ve had this feeling since I was very youngh (4 years old) as a dancer. And that feeling never left! The stage is my home !
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media has its positive and negative influence. I feel like the dark negative side is social media making youngh girls and women feel vulnerable and a target. Drawing perfect pictures how we need to look like. This can me very unfortunate for our self-esteem.
The positive side of social media is that it can bring people together. Finding your community and connecting us together from all over the world.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I love instagram and to go live actually!! I love to talk to my followers and just have a little chat ! I like to make my followers feel like my social media is a safe space and home!
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
If you don’t go after what your heart desires, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward you’ll always be in the same place. Stop taking what you get and go after what you want! Take that risk and step!! I did , and that’s why I’m now here having an international title and impact.
For parents having a difficult time supporting their children’s talents; I hope you know how important and life changing your support to your child is. Life has many lessons for us. And so for your children. Let them do what they love and desire! Let them chase that dream and let them grow as a person. These are the most important and beautiful life lessons your child can get.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
I learned to love and embrace my uniqueness and my scars and imperfections so much more. I learned it’s not all outer beauty that is important. It’s the mission and message you bring across with your title and impact.
12.- Ashley, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles?How did you overcome obstacles?
Yes of course there has been obstacles, without rain a flower doesn’t Bloom! My biggest obstacle was my mindset! Always wanting everyone to find me lovely and pretty. I was pretty much a huge people pleaser.
I learned that the most important person to like me is myself. I have to love myself before others can love me. And if someone doesn’t like me. That is totally okay! I know my worth.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
I would love to actually! I love to entertain people! And I’m down for any opportunity coming my way!
14.- Ashley, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
Make the little girl i used to be proud of the women I am today.
I’m fighting for little Ashley Anna, she went through allot. SA, humantrafficking. It’s been a journey. But despite my past ; I am not just what happened to me, I am who I choose to become. And I choose to help others with what happened to me with my platform and foundation Safe Space. I am greatfull to be able to help the 1300 children I was able to educate about these topics. And to create a safe space for all.
15.- Ashley, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I love traveling! I love to explore cultures and cuisines! I fell in love with Mexico and this is my favorite land to travel to. Besides Mexico I have a huge traveling bucket list I would love to pursue!
