1. Anudi, tell me about the city where you were born and raised, what do you like about your hometown?
I was born and raised in Nugegoda, a bustling suburb in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s commercial capital. What I love most about Colombo is its energy and warmth. The city is always alive, with its colorful markets, iconic landmarks like the Galle Face Green and the Colombo Lotus Tower, and its picturesque coastal views.
2. What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
I have a deep passion for singing, and it’s something that brings me immense joy. In my free time, I love to sing, it’s my way of expressing myself and staying connected to my emotions.
What truly makes me laugh and fills my heart with joy are the simple, genuine moments with my friends and family. Whether it’s sharing a funny story, reminiscing about old memories, or just enjoying lighthearted banter, those moments always leave me with a big smile.
3. Model – Miss Queen of the World Sri Lanka 2024. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
My journey into the world of modeling began under the incredible guidance of Brian Kerkoven at the Brian Kerkoven Modeling Academy. This transformative experience allowed me to participate in several photoshoots, which further fueled my passion for being in front of the camera.
I’ve always been obsessed with beauty pageants. I used to watch all the pageants from around the world and dreamed of being part of that glamorous and empowering stage someday. The Queen of the World Sri Lanka 2024 pageant is not my first step into this world. I had the honor of participating in the Miss Earth Sri Lanka 2024 pageant, where I placed in the top 12 finalists and proudly won the Best Smile title. The experience I gained there helped me prepare for and confidently face the Queen of the World Sri Lanka 2024 pageant. I am especially grateful to Ms. Nadeeka Senevirathna, national director of Queen of the World Sri Lanka, whose unwavering encouragement inspired me to persevere and compete without ever giving up.
Achieving my dreams, pursuing my passions, and being recognized as an influencer woman today brings me an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. It reflects the dedication, effort, and hard work that have gone into every step of my journey, making it all truly rewarding.
4. What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Anudi in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
My unique stamp is my authenticity and passion. I bring my genuine self into everything I do, whether as a beauty queen or a model, and always strive to inspire confidence and positivity in others.
5. What is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?
In my perspective, the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model is a strong personality, combined with confidence. Believing in yourself and trusting your abilities is key to standing out and succeeding in the modeling industry.
6. Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Yes, I am aware of the influence I have on many girls who aspire to be models, and it means a lot to me. Being an idol for girls and teenagers is incredibly important because it gives me the opportunity to inspire them to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams, and embrace their unique qualities. I hope to encourage them to stay true to who they are while working hard to achieve their goals.
7. What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
The first time I modeled in front of a camera was during an indoor shoot at the Brian Kerkoven Modeling Academy, where I started to learn modeling. I was really nervous, as it was my first time, but with Brian’s expert guidance and support, I was able to calm my nerves and perform well.
As for my first beauty pageant, Miss Earth Sri Lanka 2024, I can still vividly remember how nervous I was at the audition, standing in front of the judges. I had moments of self-doubt, questioning if I was strong enough to face the competition and if I was good enough to even be there. But that experience taught me so much about believing in myself and trusting the process. It was a turning point, helping me realize that embracing my fears and pushing through them was the key to growth and success.
8. What do you think about the power of social media today?
I believe the power of social media today can be both good and bad, depending on how you handle it. It offers incredible opportunities for connection, inspiration, and personal growth, but it also comes with challenges, like unrealistic comparisons and negativity.
9. How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? What’s your favorite social media?
I love sharing moments and creating engaging content on social media to connect with my followers. My favorite platform is Instagram, as it allows me to visually share my journey and interact with my audience in a fun and personal way.
10. What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
My advice to young people with talent but who are hesitant to take the next step is, don’t be afraid to take risks and step out of your comfort zone. Everyone has potential, and the only way to discover it fully is by trying. Why wouldn’t you try? Everyone have the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow, don’t ever let fear hold you back.
As for parents who do not support their children’s talents, I would encourage them to understand that nurturing their child’s passion can lead to growth and success.
11. What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
One important lesson I’ve learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants is resilience. I didn’t win my first pageant, but if I had stopped there, I would never have achieved what I have today. It taught me that setbacks are part of the journey, and true success comes from learning, growing, and never giving up, no matter how challenging things may seem.
12. Anudi, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
No, being a model has not been easy. There have been many obstacles along the way, starting with time management, as balancing modeling with other commitments was challenging. I also faced self-doubt at times, questioning my abilities. Additionally, I had to work on improving my personality and confidence. However, I learned from each experience, and with perseverance, I was able to overcome these obstacles. Every challenge helped me grow stronger, both as a model and as an individual.
13. Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
At this moment, I haven’t considered being an actress. While I deeply respect the entertainment industry, my current focus remains on modeling and beauty pageants.
14. Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I believe that women will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the future, even in societies where they still face challenges. As awareness grows and more women stand up for their rights, change will come. The strength, resilience, and determination of women will pave the way for a more equal and empowered future for all.
15. Anudi, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My motivation comes from the desire to continuously grow. I feel grateful every day for the opportunities I’ve had, the support of my loved ones, and the chance to pursue my passions. I’m also thankful for the lessons learned along the way, which have shaped me into who I am today.
16. Anudi, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
Yes, I absolutely love to travel! I’ve had the privilege of visiting India, Ukraine, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. Each country has its own unique charm, but my heart always returns to Sri Lanka. My country is truly beautiful, with everything from golden beaches to lush mountains, offering a perfect blend of nature’s wonders. If you’re into beaches, I would highly recommend visiting Mirissa, Galle, and Hikkaduwa. For a taste of history, Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa are home to the stunning ruins of an ancient city.
