1.- Amanda, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I was born in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and raised in Velddriel. Velddriel is a small peacefull little village where everyone know eachother and greets eachother. It’s a save neighbourhood with many things right around the corner, we have a school, playground for the kids where I made lots of memories and more!
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
My hobbies are modeling, painting, coaching, pageants, what always makes me happy is cuddling with cats or watching cat video’s. The small things in life can make me verry happy, after a rough past I have learnd to enjoy every second
3.-International Model, CEO of TVM Models – Miss Grand Gelderland 2024. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieved your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I’v always felt an affection with modeling and pageantry when I was young, after many rejections by modelling agency’s because I was to small, I gave up on that dream until 2017, when a photographer told me he wanted to do a photoshoot with me. I’ve always loved the camera, so I said yes. That’s how I rolled in to the world of modelling. After posting those photo’s I was scouted for my first pageant, at that time I wasn’t fit and mentally stable enough to persue so I had to quit during the traject. When I persued on following my dreams towards becoming a model many pageants came on my path along with Miss Grand where I’ve had so much opportunities to step out of my comfortzone and learn about a whole other side of myself. When I was a little experienced people asked me about trips and tricks, a few of them asked me to coach them. I love helping other people out and this way TVM Models was born. I was able to connect my passion to coaching others, and fullfill the wishes of the people in my network. Pageantry really boosted me in many ways.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Amanda in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
YES YOU CAN, is my life motto. This is what I believe is my unique stamp and I really try to show this in every way possible. YES YOU CAN came from the girl I used to be: a girl who was afraid to do anything, and I wasn’t able to do anything because I was sick and unstable… I found my voice and my passion, and my will to live in my modelling work. Befor that, I was just always scared, I saw many beers on the road so I chose to never even get on the road. I met someone who showed me that I was actually able to do things. Who supports me uncondittionaly and gives me the space to try, fail and crawl up again. YES YOU CAN was created by me because I always lived by ‘’no I can’ t, because…’’
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?
Kindness. I strongly believe that kindness is beauty. If you are not a nice person, than what’s it worth looking up to you? I strongly believe that a woman who goes international should stay grounded. You are never better than anyone as much as you are never underneath anyone. We’re all equeal, wheater we’ve been to Paris or Milan. And also loads of confidence because the world as an international model could be HARD! But very fun and lovely too!
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
Yes I am aware that I function as an influential for others. I’ts really important to me to show really. I strongly believe that sharing my story will even help some of these people. I really hope I can help people to make their dreams come true, of the give them the little push they need to start doing it. I wish I had a person like that when I needed a rolemodel.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
AMAZING! I never felt this good ever in my life. I felt strong, powerfull, beautifull and confident. I finaly felt like I belong somewhere. The first time I did a beauty pageant I wasn’t confident and phsycical fit enough which made it really hard to like it, but it was really amazing, I was at a pers conferention and I felt like a superstar (one who didn’t do well but still, a superstar) it was amazing, I wish I was ready enough to enjoy it more, but my next pageants were amazing and I really hope I will soon join my first pageant again after Miss Grand
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media is incredibly powerfull. Everyone is on it, everyone is influenced by it. I think that besides showing beauty, it’s important to show reality too. That’s why I use social media to share my story ‘’YES YOU CAN’’ and show people that there are beers on the road to conquer, not to stop trying.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
Instagram is my favourite! I’m most active on there. I really like interacting with my followers, I like getting to know them, although every now and then I’m a little busy, but I like the messages I get about how I inspire people or about how great my photo’s are and when I have the time, I’ll definitely respond!
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
PLEASE JUST TRY! Being scared only means that you care. No matter what happens or what your changes are at a great career or what pay out you’ll get. Do it because it makes you happy and keeps you healthy. Money is not important enough to not follow your dreams.
Parents who do not support their childrens dreams actually makes me so sad. I really think their eyes should be opened because if you son or daughter has a dream, you have to realisticly support them where possible, if one day they find out that that wasn’t the dream, than its their lesson to learn, not your position to hold them back.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
I’ve really learned who I am and what I stand for, also accepting myself. Which sounds wear in our world because you get allot of critic as a model, and in beauty pageants everyone has an opinion. But I’ve really became confident and made me see that we always keep on improving.
12.- Amanda, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
I’ts never been easy. I’m to small to be a model acutally which made it really hard and still. But I just tried to find opportunity’s where my length didn’t matter and now my portfolio is big enough to show that my length doesn’t make me less of a good model. I’ve learned a lot about photoshooting and videoshooting. I know how to make me look longer, or expressional etc.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Yes! Besides modeling I always wanted to combine modeling and acting. I just really love the camera and everything you do infront of it!
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I believe that we could be more equal when it comes to our man-woman range. I think that a woman is capable of working and a man is capable of doing the householdings. I do support independency but I also support unconditional love. If you are happy in a relationship, you could be needing a man. Because I’m in a great relationship and I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for him.
We are strong, independent but we also need eachoter! And we should never forget that.
15.- Amanda, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My models. I work a lot, like really a lot. But my models are always looking up to me, asking me things, making me helping them improve and I see them grow every day. I am so honored to be helping them to an hole new level an to create opportunitys for them and make their dreams come true.
16.- Amanda, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I love to travel! Even tho I’m not very so going on a vacacing wasn’t always possible. we always went to spain when I was younger and I loved it! My vacay’s on my own, without my parents were Crete and Mallorca, which was UNFORGETTABLE! I really wish I could see more of the world, and time will give me that fullfilment.
