1.- Angelica, you’ve been working in the modeling and UGC industry for over a year now. What inspired you to pursue this path, and how did your journey begin?

To be honest with you, what pushed me to pursue this path was due to past negative experiences in working for people. My last experience was working in a restaurant for a year where my boss was exploiting me due to the fact that I’m still a full-time student. After this experience, I told myself that I never wanted to work for someone again. That’s when I started exploring the modeling career. I already had previous experience with it, so I decided to start again. This is how my journey began.

2.- Being based in the Netherlands but originally from Italy, how has living in different countries influenced your work and your approach to the industry?

Growing up in a double-nationality household has given me the advantage of adaptability. I am half Italian half Mexican, and I lived most of my life in Italy, then moved to Belgium and Malta. Therefore, moving to the Netherlands was not a big shock for me. However, this is the first time I live far away from my family and at times it can be hard.

Having such a diverse background and traveling, I have seen and experienced many different cultures. And I believe that living this has given me a lot of creativity and openness. I believe this is what has made me want to become a model and UGC creator. I love showing my creativity and exploring new things.

3.- You’ve successfully collaborated with many brands across various niches like beauty, skincare, and wellness. What do you think makes your content stand out and resonate with these diverse brands?

I put a lot of effort into my content and I think what makes my content stand out is my effort to reflect the brand’s goal into every shoot/video. I value communication with brands a lot, and I always make sure to meet the expectations of brands.

4.- Can you share one of your most memorable collaborations so far? What made it special?

So far my favorite collaboration has been with a skincare brand based in the Netherlands. I was sent a gifted package, containing two amazing skincare products. I had a lot of fun creating content with this brand as it was my first time uploading a testimonial video on TikTok for a brand.

Additionally, I had a lot of fun taking product photos using my new professional equipment. I believe what made it special was the amount of effort and creativity I put into my work. This particular collaboration, so far, has been the most creative.

5.- Working in such a competitive industry, how do you stay motivated and continuously push your creativity as a UGC creator and model?

I know that being a model and UGC creator is a job, however I don’t see it that way. Being a full-time student can be exhausting, and as humans, we all need our own quality time. My quality time is being a model and UGC creator. I do this mostly because I can see that my creativity is being used a lot. Nowadays, living in such a digital world can be draining. When I was a kid I used to paint, read and do a lot more, and since I was given my first phone, my creativity died.

Now, I like to say that I’m combining both digital devices and creativity. I would say that my biggest motivation is being myself, being creative and ‘using’ my modeling and UGC creator career as a means to detach from reality.

6.- You’re involved in promoting brands across niches such as jewellery, sports, and even food. How do you adapt your style to fit the tone and message of each different industry?

Depending on what type of content the brand is expecting from me, I am mostly able to adapt my content even to niches I don’t focus. Each different industry must be portrayed differently, and when I’m out of ideas I always use AI tools to help me brainstorm and make sure that my content suits the brand.

7.- What challenges have you faced as a young model and content creator, and how have you overcome them?

My biggest challenge is to find collaborations. Being a UGC creator in Europe is not the same as being a UGC creator in the US. Here in Europe, the concept of UGC is not very well known. So my biggest challenge is to find UGC collaborations in both Europe and the US. I’m still trying to fully overcome this challenge, and so far what seems to be working is to find brands on TikTok.

8.- As a promoter and model, how do you balance the need for authenticity in your content with the goals of the brands you work with?

I always try to create creative content, and usually I do that by incorporating my creativity and authenticity in every shoot for brands. I always work with brands that reflect my likings or standards, which makes it a lot easier to create authentic content for them.

9.- In the beauty and skincare industry, what trends have you noticed recently, and how do you incorporate them into your content?

In the beauty and skincare industry I realized that audiences seem to appreciate more testimonial videos, where creators show and test the products. This is a type of video that I have done before and I must say that the engagement is slightly higher than normal aesthetic UGC videos. I incorporate this type of content to products from brands that I believe are really good.

10.- What role does social media play in your career as a UGC creator? Do you have a favorite platform for connecting with your audience?

Social media and UGC go together. You can’t be a UGC creator if you don’t have social media, it is such an essential part of this career. Therefore, social media is a pillar to becoming a UGC creator.

My favorite social media for UGC is TikTok because it’s such an easy platform to use, there are many users and brands on TikTok and it’s easy to gain more exposure, especially in this industry.

11.- With so many niches under your belt, from wellness to jewellery, how do you manage to stay informed and updated about each one?

Depending on which brand deal I get, I will do research regarding the niche and the product/brand if I’m not already familiar with it. Usually TikTok helps me inform myself regarding different niches.

12.- What is your creative process like when you begin working on a new collaboration or project? Do you have a specific routine or strategy?

Usually it takes me 7-10 days to deliver the content to the brand, but before shooting my content I usually have an idea of what type of content I want to film. I love brainstorming. When I’m still in the stage of talking to the brand and finalizing a deal, I usually send them already a template or video I saw on TikTok that I would like to recreate for their product.

13.- In your opinion, what makes the Netherlands a great place to work as a model and UGC creator? How does the local market compare to other places?

The Netherlands is a great place to start a career path or seek opportunities. There is an infinite amount of opportunities and here everything is very accessible. I can’t tell you with certainty how other markets compare to the one here in the Netherlands regarding UGC, but I can tell you that you will find something for sure.

14.- You’re young but already very experienced in the field. What advice would you give to someone just starting in the UGC or modeling industry?

My biggest advice to other people that would like to become UGC creators in Europe would be to mainly focus on brands from the US. UGC is not very known here in Europe and brands definitely don’t pay as much as those in the US. Try to find US brands that are familiar with UGC!

15.- How do you see the future of the UGC and modeling industry evolving, and where do you see yourself fitting into this future?

I think UGC will be very big in Europe too because it’s slowly being discovered. Honestly, I am a very open minded person and I always told myself to welcome every opportunity that comes my way. If UGC keeps on going well, I will definitely invest more of my time and consistency.

16.- As someone who works in wellness and sports promotions, how do you prioritize health and wellness in your personal life, and how does that influence your work?

Well, first of all, I love going to the gym and It’s been in my routine for the past 3 years. I believe that my passion for the gym has driven me to explore this industry in UGC as well. I will always prioritize my wellness and then work. Fortunately, UGC gives me enough time to take care of myself and have fun.

17.- What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned since starting your career as a model and UGC creator?

Never give up and never stop posting those ‘silly’ videos. You have to stop caring about other people’s opinions because your social media is not for your friends but it’s for yourself, so do whatever you want with it!

18.- Lastly, are there any upcoming projects or exciting collaborations you’re working on that you can share with us?

Yes! I have many things coming up, but one of them that I will share with you is that I got a really exciting deal with a Korean skincare brand and I can’t wait to receive my pr package! I’m very excited for this collaboration as I am a big fan of Korean skincare!
