Representing Australia on the national and international pageant scene, Chleo embodies the spirit of a woman who understands that true beauty is found in character, compassion, and purpose. With her eyes firmly set on the future, she continues to build a legacy defined by confidence, leadership, and the belief that every dream is achievable when passion is matched with determination.
1.- Chleo, stepping into Miss Premier Elite Australia 2026 is such an exciting milestone. What does this chapter represent for you personally and professionally?
Personally, I have been waiting to compete at premiere elite pageants ever since I first started in my pageant journey in 2023. The sisterhood of Premiere as always touch my heart as well as many others and I can’t wait to compete in a pageant on the other side of country! Also, being able to and continue to represent my platform More than bananas and my chosen charity The RED HEART movement in bigger ways then I have ever before in officially representing all over the county.
2.- Your presence reflects both elegance and purpose. How do you balance the glamour of pageantry with the depth of your advocacy work?
First came was purpose, I have been running events for charity and advocating since the age of 14, way before I ever step foot on stage in my first pageant. 99% of the work I do is for my community, my country. The 1% is the glamour, the pretty dress and a week off from work is for me.
3.- As a founder, you’ve built More Than Bananas into a recognized initiative. What inspired you to take that first bold step into creating something of your own?
More than bananas started off as my platform, an Instagram page share posts/quotes/ and other resources for the lgbt community, and woman and children who have experienced DV. But with in the first months of the Instagram page launched, woman reached out to me for help, regarding finances. Many organisations that say they help woman in DV circumstances have to go through all the paperwork, only to be declined, and at risk of going either back their abuser, or at risk of homelessness, that was then more then bananas started a No Red Tape Mutual Aid System. Where members of the community will send donations through and the money will go directly to the person in need. Within the first 4 months of doing this kind of fundraising we raised $7000AUD which helps 4 Woman and there children in need of support. This is just one example of the work we have done in the first year of the launch.
More the bananas also runs Community Events which all proceeds go towards The Red Heart Movement, an organisation here is Australia that helps woman and children in DV and those families lost to violence. Sherele Moody, The founder I look up to tremendously in her work and everything she does for our community and country.
4.- Your platform focuses on education and awareness. Why do you believe education is the most powerful starting point for change?
My platform is @more.than.bananas and the motto is CHANGE STARTS WITH EDUCATION. I truly believe with the right education shared about the seriousness of people experiencing DV, SA and how to have healthy relationships goes beyond what they teach in schools when teaching Sexual health and relationship education. I say this a lot, but it is more than bananas.
For example, regarding the LGBT community, if we teach and have inclusive education it normalise the real experience of queer people where we can have more ally’s, and supporters, and less hate towards something others don’t understand.
Another point is here is Australia we have an extreme epidemic in Domestic Violence, I believe that change can be made with the right education.
5.- Being recognized as a finalist in two business awards is incredible. What did that recognition mean to you as a young entrepreneur?
Oh trust me when I say I shed many happy tears; Being a finalist for two business awards meant the world, especially for being finalist Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion, to me and truly showed how important and impactful the work i do is. This is still only just the beginning for More Than Bananas, but being a finalist this category isn’t just for me or for my organisation but is recognition for the LGBT community, this was for the girls, The Gays, the They/thems. I love my Queer community and my work will continue to show the recognition they deserve.
6.- In both business and pageantry, confidence is key. How did you develop that inner strength that you project today?
Confidence is never a straight line, it’s up and down, and behind the scenes this is more so, I have many moments where I don’t feel confident in both in pageantry and for more than bananas, when I need to be confident especially on stage I honestly fake it And channel all my energy into what makes me happy, and remember about all the work I have done which reminds me why I’m here.
7.- What has been the most challenging moment in your journey as a founder, and how did you overcome it?
Time Management!! I am terrible at time management and focusing on what need to be done and when it needs to be done, when things get a little to overwhelming, I just stop, take a deep breath and go through what needs to be done.
8.- As a Miss finalist, what message are you most passionate about sharing with your audience?
No matter your story, your challenges, or they things you have over come, you are worthy, your story, your challenges are worthy. It’s hard to see when your stuck the middle from your future and your past, especially when you can’t the light at the end the tunnel, I promise you there is light, just take one step at a time you will see the light, and my god, the light is beautiful.
9.- How do you ensure that your advocacy remains authentic and impactful rather than just symbolic?
I don’t know how people see me, if they do see what I’m doing is authentic or not, I just know my story is real, and the story’s of woman and LGBT community is real, there struggles are real and worth fighting for. I know the work we are doing is impactful, I’ve seen make a difference in lives, although it’s not many, but it’s a few, and that’s a few lives that weren’t changed before.
10.- Many young women look up to you. How do you handle that responsibility while staying true to yourself?
The young woman who have reached out to me to express that look up to me is very cute. Especially when I look up to them aswell, I have many friends in the teen division from competing in pageant and I just adore hanging out with them.
11.- If you could describe the mission of More Than Bananas in one powerful sentence, what would it be?
Change Starts With Education
12.- What skills from your entrepreneurial journey have helped you stand out in the pageant world?
I believe, especially with most recently being a finalist in the Business Awards for Excellence in diversity and inclusion really highlights the work I do from a behind the scenes perspective.
13.- How do you manage your time between building a brand, advocacy work, and preparing for competitions?
I really struggle actually with time management. Everything you just mentioned plus my personal life is lot of work. In the past I have prioritised pageants over my own life and for the first time in long time while competing I’m focusing on my life, especially my health. And it’s okay to take break when you need too.
14.- In your opinion, what defines a modern beauty queen in today’s world?
In today’s world I truly believe that pageants are about inner beauty, the advocacy and work behind the scenes, the charity work beyond glitz and glamour is what defines us. I feel people still believe and stigmatise pageants, but from actual being about of this pageant world that is just not the case. We are all superheroes wearing sparkling dresses instead of capes.
15.- What has been the most rewarding moment you’ve experienced through your advocacy work so far?
Through more than bananas, we run Community Groups, both online and in person, on of their groups we have run is the ‘Fight Like A Girl’ boxing Class. Running this group for the first time, have people attend the group, as well as People from JOY.94.9 radio stations AND the founder of the Red Heart Movement came, was a true milestone for me and one of the moments I realised about how important the work I actually do is.
16.- How do you approach collaboration and building meaningful connections within both business and pageant industries?
Being Real, with Clear Communication and a vision. There is absolutely no reason to be fake in pageants and in business. People want relatable, real authenticity, and to be seen. We hear it all the time. Be authentic, and trust me when you are authentic you can go so far in pageantry and I’m business.
17.- If given a global stage, what is the one conversation you would want to spark immediately?
PROTECT THE DOLLS! Transgender people and gender affirming care is so important and should be available and be accessible.
It is a proven pattern, that once government and society focuses one particular minority group, it doesn’t just stop there, first they will focus on transgender people, then Marriage Equality, then woman’s health and taking away access to abortions. And the list goes on. Trans rights matter, Marriage Equality matters, And my body my choice matters.
18.- Looking ahead, how do you envision scaling More Than Bananas into an even greater impact-driven movement?
Everyday we are growing more and more, right now the goal is to make More Than Bananas is to make it Australia wide not just here in Victoria.
19.- Chleo, if someone truly wanted to understand your heart, your mission, and your vision over a meaningful conversation… what would you want them to discover about you beyond the titles?
That it wasn’t easy, my life has been pretty crazy, I’m an orphan, and I’ve been through some other very traumatic/hard situations.
I don’t let it define me nor will I let a title define me. I’m not perfect and perfect is overrated.
