It is an honor to present from Liverpool – United Kingdom the beauty and talent of Teana Lynne – Internationa Model – Classic Miss British Isles 2021 – Amazon Best-Selling Author.

Together with Teana we explored two of her great passions, being a model and beauty queen, and being a recognized Amazon bestselling author, as well as thoughts, feelings, tips, always with a kindness and nobility worthy of a great lady.

I was thrilled when I read that Teana is from Liverpool, a city I have dreamed of since school. I think many of us feel nostalgic when we hear, read or know Liverpool.

Welcome Teana Lynne!!!

1.- Teana, you were born in UK, What do you like about your hometown in UK?

My birth hometown is Liverpool and what I love best is the history, the culture and the pride that Liverpool and its locals aka scousers have for each other and their city.

My current hometown of some 21 years is Chester and again, I love that it has an interesting and ancient history dating back to the Roman times, with incredible architecture, amazing roman ruins, Tudor walls and the famous two tier ‘rows’. I love that Chester, although it is officially a city as it has a cathedral, it is actually like a village and is really friendly. There’s never a day goes by where you can walk down the street and not meet someone you know.

2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?

My passion are my furbabies, my 5 chihuahuas. They make me laugh, keep me entertained and make me smile even on a bad day. My fiancé Andy can also make me laugh and smile. Together we love watching a good film, eating great food and enjoying a bottle of wine, although as he is a chef and we own a bistro, we don’t get to go out and enjoy dinner out very often. When we do, it is very special and a real treat.

3.- International Model, Classic Miss British Isles 2021 – When do you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?

My first steps into modelling were as a teen, but my dreams were stopped as soon as they started due to a toxic relationship. So my first steps to a successful modelling career started when a friend posted about needing a model to help promote her boutique. As a mature woman, I wasn’t sure I was suitable, but she agreed and I remembered how much  I loved it. After that, I applied to another local casting, but not hearing anything for 6 months, assumed I had been unsuccessful only to discover I was wrong and I was invited to model for a local Chester designer. I went on to model for him at several catwalk shows and in-house events. After this, I started to build my portfolio online and when I saw an advert for the Miss British Isles competition, I decided to enter the Classic category for the over 45s.

I was elated to discover that I had won a place as Classic Miss Cheshire and when I finally got to compete in September 2019 against 49 other women, at age 49, I won and was crowned Classic Miss British Isles! I was absolutely overwhelmed and elated. A real teenage dream-come-true moment. The young, insecure, shy kid I had been, with no confidence and no self-belief, the girl who thought she was ugly in school, had finally found her place and finally realised her dreams.

Knowing what it feels like to have no self-belief or confidence, to feel invisible, unimportant and passed by, to win this contest reassured the young girl I was, that I could achieve any dream I could set my mind to. Knowing that my actions, my achievements could inspire others, makes me feel proud and makes every difficult step I have been through worthwhile.

4.- Amazon Best-Selling Author Have you always loved writing and when did you decide to become an Amazon author?

I loved reading as a child. I was always buried in books and as a child, I loved creative writing in school. So I think becoming an author was a natural step for me. I always said that I would write my life story one day and one day, I will write the full story. When I was approached and invited to share my story, albeit in brief in a collaborative charity book, I felt privileged to be asked to do so. Knowing I was sharing my story alongside 14 other epic, inspiring women who had stepped into their power, purpose and passion, and that we would raising funds for a mental health charity as well as sharing the trials and tribulations of life that we had overcome, helping other women to believe they can too, was so worth the angst and at times pains of sharing such personal, painful and emotive memories.

5.- What advice can you give to those of us who have published our works on Amazon (poems, essays, history, novels) and the world can know our creations, our contributions.

My only advice is remember that once it is out there, there is  no taking it back. So be sure y ou are ready to share your story. But on the other hand, remember, once is is out there, your story could touch and impact anyone anywhere in the world. Your words could be helping and impacting someone you have never met on the other side of the world, so go for it.

6.- You are a motivational speaker. What are your beginnings as a speaker, what do your conference attendees appreciate the most, what topics have the greatest impact?

I started to share my story and my personal experiences via zoom and teams as a guest speaker in different groups and membersships especially during the pandemic and just after. I share the steps I took to rebuild my life and my self esteem, my 10 steps to ‘Becoming Me’. Guests often said that they could resonate with aspects with my story and it gave them hope that it was never too late to start again or too old to follow your dreams. The biggest impact is when I have shared my story of how I have survived being groomed and trafficked between age 14 and 19 and the abuse I endured until my full escape at age 30, when I started again.

7.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Teana in each activity carried out as a person, author, speaker and model?

I think my distinctive thing is my cup-half-full attitude, my general positivity, my tenacity and my determination. Whatever I do, I go for it with a smile and a self-belief that I can and I will succeed. I never see things as failures, I see things that don’t quite work out as lessons, things I needed to experience to gain further knowledge and experience from. No matter how bad the experience, it teaches me something.

8.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?

Kindness. Always kindness. Just be kind to other people on set, makeup artists, hair dressers, photographers, stylists, other models. Simply be kind.

9.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?

I never took these steps to become an influential woman. It is not my desire to become an idol. I model because I love clothes, I love being an actress and becoming someone different with different clothes, makeup and hair. I would rather be looked up to as a woman who has never given up, who has proved you are never to old to follow your dreams and it is never too late to start again. Whatever your dreams are. I also want aspiring models to realise that the industry and what it portrays is not real. Photos are edited, make up and hair changes what you really look like and we do not look like the perfect image that is portrayed. I want to aspiring models to realise that you do  not have to be 6ft tall and size 0 to be successful.

10.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?

The first time I was in front of a camera, I actually felt almost beautiful for the first time ever. I actually thought, “Maybe I am not ugly after all”. The first time I was in front of a video camera, was for Granada TV shopping channel. I loved it. I modelled opposite a Brad Pitt lookalike as his bride in a wedding giftware promo. It was a lot of fun. My first beauty Pageant was when I was 19 at Butlins holiday camp and I came second in Miss Lovely Legs and 3rd in Belle of the ball! I felt so proud as it was with my mum and my favourite auntie. I can still remember what I wore to this day!

11.- What do you think about the power of social media today?

Social media has its good and bad side. It is wonderful that I can stay connected with school friends who now live the other side of the UK, my sister and her family in South Africa, my friends who are from other cities. It is wonderful that through social media I have made incredible connections, joined networking groups, met new people which resulted in my meeting the organiser of my book for example. However, I am very aware of the pitfalls. Of the addictive nature of scrolling, of using filters and putting ever-increasing pressure on yourself to portray the perfect look, to stay slim, to always look perfect when in real life nobody does. We all have days where we don’t wear makeup, have PJ days and eat pizza and chips. I follow many stunningly beautiful women, including supermodels, who also have ‘off’ days days where we are just normal and it is really important to always remember that.

12.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?

I always like comments and always take the time to reply. If a follower has taken the time to spend some of their day to write a comment, to like my picture or say something on a video, the least I can do is acknowledge that. So I always make sure I do that.

I was mainly a Facebook girl, but I have started to use Instagram since I became Classic Miss British Isles and have an Instagram profile now for my model account. I mainly use these two now but have a TikTok following of around 1000 now

13.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?

If you have a talent that you love doing, go for it. If you enjoy it that is the most important part. It is not about becoming famous, but about have experiences in life that make you happy, creating memories. If you are good at something but hate every moment doing it, what is the point?

Parents ultimately, usually have their children’s best interests at heart and just want to protect them, which is perfectly natural. Sometimes, protecting children too much can prevent them from experiencing things and learning what they like / don’t like and sometimes failure teaches us a lot about life and isn’t always a bad thing. So as long as your child is not going to be hurt, if it is a passion, let it flow, support it, embrace it. It could lead to so much more if they are allowed to blossom and grow and follow their passion. They might also realise if allowed to pursue it, that is  NOT for them. Sometimes giving them freedom with their care and protection can be the best option.

14.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?

Patience! That there is a lot of waiting around on set. Or can be. And also just how much goes on behind the scenes.

15.- Teana, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?

The main obstacle was a toxic partner who convinced me I wasn’t good enough and I would not succeed. The second was I wasn’t tall enough. The third, I thought I was too old. Now here I stand, age 50 and 5ft 4 a successful model and the former Classic Miss British Isles! So I proved you can.

16.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?

I have been working lately as a supporting and featured artist. I have really enjoyed it and who knows where that could lead. I did drama GCSE at school and earned a grade A so who knows where it will lead.

17.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?

Woman are an integral part of the future. Women have been pioneers in so many different genres from aviation to science. And I have no doubt whatsoever that it will continue. It breaks my heart when I read about societies and cultures where girls are not even allowed to be educated, to go to school or have basic civil rights. I hope one day it will become a world where all women have equal opportunities and rights.

18.- Teana, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?

My motivation is simply my desire to have a good life, to create happy memories and to prove those wrong who told me I wasn’t enough, I would not amount to anything and would not survive without them. I am pretty self-motivated and determined to always be in control of my destiny. I am grateful every day that I lived through my past traumas, that I am actually here today to tell those stories, and that I am able to inspire others to believe they can. I am grateful for being able to own my own home, for my beautiful furbabies, my fiancé who has been my rock, for being a best selling author, for owning my own bistro with my fiancé, for being a model, my dream job. I have a lot to be grateful for every single day.

19.- Teana, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from UK?

I love travelling and have not travelled nearly as much as I would love to. I have lived in South Africa, growing up there from age 6 to 12. I have visited Egypt, Turkey, Sri Lanka, The BVIs, Ibiza, Spain, The Canaries, France, Cyprus, Mauritius, NYC, The Maldives, Barbados, and Canouan, and I have loved them all. My favourite has been sailing through the BVIs on a catamaran and staying on Raffles in Canouan Touring through Sri Lanka many moons ago when I was a travel agent was incredible and somewhere I would love to revisit one day. Mauritius was another stunning destination. I have so many places I would love to visit. I would love to visit Italy, Sardinia especially, I have never visited Asia and having read the Memoirs of a Geisha, I would love to visit Japan one day. The world is so big we have so much choice and we can visit anywhere from the UK so easily. I  love city breaks too and have loved visiting Prague, Paris, Seville to name a few

If you are travelling to the UK there are so many fabulous places to visit including my own home town Chester, My birthplace Liverpool, and of course our own capital London is worth a visit too.

21.- Teana, your last words or final tips

I would love to be remembered for being a positive impact on the world. A glass half-full woman. For someone who always shows others’ kindness and compassion. My mum always said, treat others how you would like to be treated and “there but for the grace of God go I”, and I always endeavour to live my life that way.

So my advice is just be kind always.

Thank you for the opportunity!!!
