1.- Layla, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I’ve been raised in this small village just nearby the city, Groningen. After becoming 17 I was almost every day in the crowded and busy city because of my studies. It made me happy to come home at a place where there is peace and silence.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
With some of my hobbies it also depends on the weather and of how I am feeling. If the weather is great and I do feel a bit stressed I grab my longboard. But when I want to go for more silence and peace I prefer a good book or being artsy by painting. These are the things that makes me happy and brings me joy.
3.- Model When did you decide to take your first steps as a model? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
It all started when I just became 20. A friend of mine studied photography and needed a model for studies. From there on this whole journey begun. And at this moment I am invited for the castingday for Miss Universe of Groningen 2025. Growing up I was scared for the future because I always wanted to be happy. But doing something that you love or that makes you happy can’t always reassures you of the stability that you need in life, but if it is something that you really want you need to go for it.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Layla in each activity carried out as a model?
I think the thing that makes me unique is my length. I have always been the smallest in every social gathering, but I won’t let that get the best of me. Most of the time people have a tendency of making you aware of your insecurities. But the trick is to make that insecurity your strength. Don’t let other people underestimate you because of your insecurity. When turned into your strength, the confidence will follow and that is what makes people notice you.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
As long as I can remember there is a certain stereotype for models. That being a model means being tall, skinny, beautiful, etc. But I think that being a model doesn’t mean that you have to be beautiful on the outside. You also have to be beautiful on the inside because the person that you are on the inside will show on the outside to. Because everyone has a different definition of beauty. What matters is if there is beauty on the inside.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
I am aware of it and I also think it is important. In the past I struggled with my self image because I wasn’t the tallest or I didn’t had the clearest skin. I even was told once that I would never be good enough. The world can be really hard and it can even damage you as a person. I want to make sure that every girl knows that they are beautiful in their own way and that it doesn’t matter what size they are or the color of their eyes. Every girl is beautiful just the way they are.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera?
The first time in front of the camera was a whole new experience for me. It was new and scary. Most of the time I didn’t know what to do. For me it was important that you have an connection with the photographer. She can navigate you in different kind of poses to stand and even with new fun ideas to do.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
I think social media holds to much power with such an large audience which also contains young girls. Social media influences us everyday, from the ads that they are showing to the clothes that an celebrity wears. Nowadays it has such an strong hold that it influences the self image of other young girls.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I think it would be Instagram. I love to see what my friends are always up to and scroll through different kind of videos that are on my ‘for you’ page. And for interaction, I don’t have a lot because I have a 9-5 job. But when I do have some time I try to say something.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
To the young people I would say: follow your dreams. Life is way to short to do things that you don’t love. If you have a talent for something you should show the world and make something out of life. Be happy and eventually inspire other people to follow their dreams. To the parents I would simply say: Have faith in your childeren, even if they just dreams and hope. Having support from your family is a big deal when you are having a dream that you want to achieve. And by not having faith in the dreams of your childeren makes them question themselves more.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion?
What I have learned of the world of fashion is that clothes don’t make you fit in. Clothes define your personality and sometimes also your mood. They show who you are as a person depending on the style and the colors. And most of all, you should wear clothes where you feel the most comfortable in.
12.- Layla, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
It hasn’t been really easy. I do this combined with my studies here in the Netherlands. It all depends on being approached by photographers in the beginning and also on yourself, by approaching photographers so you can build yourself an portfolio.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
As a child I have thought about working in the film industry. Nowadays it also looks something to look out for in the future, but for now I need to focus on getting my diploma so that I have a form of stability and certainty in my life. In case modelling doesn’t work out or I want to settle down I can look for work that fits with my diploma.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I think those woman are the most strongest and most powerful in the world. They stand for something that is for our countries a normality. Despite de abuse in those countries they fight for equality and for better womans rights. I have so much respect for those woman and they have my full support.
15.- Layla, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
I am grateful for every day that I have with the people that I love. Time is something that is rare and that gets less and less every day. We should be grateful for the moments we can have and cherish the moments that we had. That is what keeps me motivated, my family and the people that I love.
16.- Layla, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I haven’t traveled a lot in my life but I do wish to travel in the future. I would like to see more of the world and beauty of it within. For example, Egypt or Indonesia. Because I haven’t traveled a lot, I can’t really give any recommendations. I have mostly been to Germany and I can say that, for the beer lovers, they have excellent beer there.

18.- Layla, your last words or final tips
As final words I would like to say: Never give up on your dreams. Dreams are things that keeps you going and that gives a person hope. You are never too young or too old to dream. If you believe in yourself that you can do it, then go for it and don’t let insecurity stop you.
