1.-  Kyra, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?

I was born in Houston, TX. I loved growing up in Houston because it was a melting pot of cultures and I was exposed to various types of foods and traditions that I’ve come to love. For example, I grew accustomed to my neighbors making my family homemade tamales and sopapillas at Christmas, while we shared a pot of Gumbo with them.  I love that Houston is a little rough around the edges because I feel like we are raised to handle more than the average person but we still maintain a bit of southern charm.

2.- What are your hobbies?  what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?

I enjoy making memories with my 4-year old son, Jay. I light up when I get to see his face the first time he sees a ferris wheel or tastes a new ice cream flavor so my hobby is exposing him to as much of the world as possible. It tickles me that he is so much braver and bolder than I am, and he forces me out of my comfort zone a lot, whether it is by running up to me with a garden snake in hand or asking me to dance with him in the middle of a crowd.

3.-International Model. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model ? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?

I decided to take my first steps as a model in March 2024 when I was trying to find an outlet that would allow me to exercise creativity and improve my confidence, and I fell in love with it. It is so surreal and a true honor to now be featured in an international magazine. I was very shy and quiet as a child so this opportunity is something that I never would’ve believed had you told me as a child.

4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Kyra in each activity carried out as a model?

I think my unique stamp is putting just a little sprinkle of innocence and child-like silliness in each activity I carry out as a model. You will often find me making funny faces or doing cartwheels or breaking out into song. I don’t take myself too seriously and  I am always eager to see what each activity will teach me.

5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?

I would say the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model is conviction. A model’s job is to sell a product or a concept, and if she doesn’t believe it, no one else will either.

6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?

I have not reached that stage of my career yet, but it is the aspect that I am the most excited and afraid of. I am afraid because I understand that it is a great responsibility but I look forward to showing young girls and teenagers how to create a brand, use their platform to impact causes that are important to them, and show them that their dreams don’t have to be put on hold if they choose to get married or have a family.

7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera?

I was terrified. The first time I modeled in front of a video camera was when I was 4 or 5 for a company called Page Parkes in Houston, TX and I was so shy that I didn’t like having my photo taken until I was a junior in high school.

8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?

I think it is amazing the way that social media has allowed folks to start businesses or retire early, connect families and reunite friends, bolster movements for policy change, or give people access opportunities (such as healthcare) that would otherwise be unavailable to them in their area. I am in awe of social media, especially following the pandemic, who know how we would’ve survived without it.

9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?

I like to interact with my followers by commenting on their photos or stories on Instagram or Facebook. I love seeing how creative people are with their content, and I am lucky to have really talented followers so they make it easy to cheer them on.

I’ll be honest, before modeling, I wasn’t very active on social media platforms but I’d say Instagram is my favorite because it’s the only one I have used consistently.

10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?

I would say to wait until you are ready because you will be much more confident, it will be easier to remain consistent in your efforts, and you will know why you are pursuing the next steps which is important as you are faced with obstacles.

I would advise parents that if you don’t support your child’s talents, don’t discourage them. You would never want to lose or alter your relationship with your child because you are making them choose between you or their dreams.

11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion?

I have learned to ask more questions, network, and have fun. I have made so many amazing connections with photographers and models just because I could not stop asking questions about how they measure the lighting or how they came up with a concept or what a model term meant. People are more willing to help you when they see you are passionate about something and are open to coaching and feedback.

Most importantly, I have learned to have fun. Any time I am overthinking or nervous on shoot, it is immediately translated into my photos, so I am forced to relax and have fun to create the best art.

12.- Kyra, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?

No, it has not been easy. My primary obstacle has been my mindset. I had to stop limiting my opportunities because I thought I was too short, too thick, too old, or my hair was too short. Once I told myself that the possibilities are limitless, and that doors will open if the talent is there, opportunities started to appear.

My other major obstacle has been finances because, in the beginning, I kept thinking that I needed to spend money in order to be successful but it is true that if an agency or casting director wants to work with you they will invest in your talent.

13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?

I would love to be an actress one day. I used to perform in plays/musicals from elementary school to high school, and I loved watching black-and-white movies as a child. To become an actress would be a dream come true. I have always found actors to be magical because they have the ability to create this art that lives on and brings joy well past their lifetime.

I do like the entertainment industry, I respect that entertainers can be so vulnerable to the public.

14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?

It is the role of women in the future to learn to live empowered lives but not overwhelm themselves. I see women working two jobs and caring for their children and still trying to find time to take care of themselves. It is impressive but we have to find balance in the future.

15.- Kyra, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?

My motivation is my son. I want to show him that with hard work and faith in God, you can achieve a life that some people only dream of. Outside of my son, my motivation is leaving a legacy. I want to be able to impact communities that will benefit from my efforts for generations and generations.

I am grateful for my health, my family, and my freedom.

16.- Kyra, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?

I love to travel though I have not had many opportunities to do so. I have only been to Scotland, Mexico, and Aruba. I am planning to visit Colombia at the end of the summer, but I would love to see Greece and Paris.

I would recommend visiting Oregon if you love natural beauty and outdoor activities, Florida if you love dancing and relaxing on a beautiful beach, and Texas for the food.

17.- You and me (Jaime William) are going to play ping pong, I will tell you one word and you will answer with another word that comes to your mind.

18.- Kyra, your last words or final tips

Life is short but can be as beautiful and rich as you want it to be. And if you are blessed to live long, it’s never too late to try something new and create new memories.
