1.- Katelyn, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I’ve lived in a bunch of places! Tamworth, Wollongong, Broken Hill, and even Los Angeles for 3 months! I’m currently in Sydney and I’ve been here since 2021. I moved here for uni and plan to stay here for the performance opportunities. I love Sydney because there’s always something interesting happening!
2.- What are your hobbies? What makes you laugh a lot or does it give you a lot of joy?
My hobbies include video games and circus aerials! I’ve been a fan of video games since I was a kid. I think I got my first console, a pink Nintendo DS, when I was about 5 or 6. If I wasn’t in acting I think I would have become a game developer! I started circus aerials after lockdown because I wanted to try something different, and I fell in love with it! I actually won the Best in Talent award at the Miss Earth Australia 2024 pageant for my Barbie inspired aerial hoop routine.
3.- International Actress, When do you decide to take your first steps as an actress? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I’ve always enjoyed performing, even at a young age. I joined a kid’s theatre group at 13 and continued doing stage productions til lockdown. When I graduated high school I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew I loved performing so I decided to go for a drama degree. I’m so glad I did! I’m so proud of the journey I’m on and how much my skills have developed since I started, I can’t wait to see how I continue to grow!
4.- As an actress, do you prefer television, theatre, cinema?
That’s a tough question! I really love screen productions, but I started out in theatre so it holds a special place in my heart.
5.- What kind of characters do you like to play or feel most comfortable playing?
I love comedy, so I feel like I drift towards comedic characters more. I would love to play villains more, since I don’t often get to do that as I’m often type casted a younger innocent girl characters.
6.- Which famous artist would you like to perform with or share the stage with?
I’m HUGE fans of Margot Robbie and Lady Gaga! I would love to be able to work with them one day.
7.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Katelyn in each activity carried out as a person and actress?
I have a very unique personal style, almost everything I own is either colourful, sparkly or both! I love wearing and designing with bright colours and eye catching sparkles. Always aim to be the most fabulous person in the room!
8.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an artist?
Strong boundaries and sense of self! The performance industry can prey on people’s dreams, so you absolutely need to figure out where you draw the line and what you’re comfortable with.
9.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be actresses? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
As someone who looked up to performers as a kid, I absolutely recognise how important it is to realise that you are a role model! As a National Finalist for Miss Galaxy Australia, my advocacy is all about the arts. I want to encourage as many women as possible to give the arts a go!
10.- What was your feeling the first time in front of a video camera?
I used to make home movies on my family’s IPad all the time, I never felt nervous until my first time in front of a real film camera! 😂 I’ve grown to love it now as I’ve become more confident and less insecure.
11.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media can be a blessing and a curse. It can be a big source of anxiety and insecurity for many people, but I often use it as a source of inspiration while watching artists post their work. Just use it wisely.
12.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I’m a Instagram girl! I love making videos following the latest memes or dance trends, it can be so fun! I also use it to showcase my work as a designer and my journey as a performer and pageant girl.
13.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
I would definitely encourage them to try workshops and short courses, it helps to gain skills and experience without a long term commitment if you’re unsure. My own parents aren’t keen on me going into the arts, but I’ve come so far since then! I would remind parents that acting is a skills used in many places, not just on screen. Commercials, modelling, live events, and kids entertainment all require actors. I use my performance skills during my job as a True Crime Tour Guide! There can be so many unexpected opportunities.
14.- What important lessons have you learned from the entertainment industry?
I’ve learnt that having multiple skills can be super beneficial. I’m grateful for my degree as it gave me skills not just in acting; but design, writing, camera work and editing too. Having experience in multiple areas is gonna make it a lot easier to find gigs and jobs!
15.- Katelyn, being a actress for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
I initially wasn’t sure if I could even be an actress due to an eye disorder I was born with. It affects my night vision, meaning I struggle in dark areas (low light sets, theatre backstage etc). I thought I could never be a professional, but I didn’t know what else I wanted to do with my life. So I decided to try anyway, and look where I ended up! I completed a drama degree, studied in Los Angeles, and even compete in pageants! A big part of my advocacy as a National Finalist for Miss Galaxy Australia is to encourage and join disabled artists to create all kinds of art, and help others realise there is space for people like us in the entertainment industry.
16.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
As someone who has experienced abuse, I am very proud of where I am today. It breaks my heart to see women’s lives being torn apart and futures destroyed because of the abuse they experienced. I hope to work towards a future where women can be safe and ensure the entertainment industry has zero tolerance for abuse.
17.- Katelyn, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
I’m grateful for many things! I love my job, I’m financially stable, I can afford to do many hobbies, and I have amazing friends! I’m very lucky
18.- Katelyn, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I love to travel! It’s my dream to visit every country in the world! I actually just got back from a 3 week Japan trip, I absolutely love it there! I got to climb Mt Fuji which was a huge achievement for me. I’m from Sydney and I love it here too! We have gorgeous wildlife, so I would recommend the botanical parks, beaches and iconic landmarks like the Opera house and Harbour bridge!
