It is a joy to introduce, from Estonia, Lisanna Kruus, a young world traveler and YouTuber who, together with her boyfriend Mateo, shares on their channel Mateo & Lisanna their experiences, feelings and advice from every city or country they visit.
Lisanna is without a doubt one of the rising stars and young promises of social media, and at just 21 years old, she is already an authority on lifestyle and adventure.

Welcome, Lisanna Kruus!!!
1.- Lisanna, let’s start with you. You’re from Estonia. Tell us which city you were born and raised in, what you like about it, your hobbies, everything that brings a smile to your face or gives you joy.
I was born and raised in a small town near the capital. I like my town because it’s very peaceful, it’s very green, it offers plenty of opportunities to play sports outdoors, and it’s close to the capital. My two main hobbies are traveling and learning languages. Those two haven’t changed over the years, and they make me very happy. I also love animals: spending time with them, taking care of them and learning more about them. And of course, good food also puts a big smile on my face.
2.- Lisanna, tourism and adventure are always exciting, fun topics full of stories: getting to know different cultures and people, sharing time with new people. Tell us how it feels to have gotten to know so many countries.
By getting to know so many countries, I’ve realized how much it gives a person. I’ve learned a lot about history and different cultures, but not only that: it has also taught me spontaneity, flexibility, understanding, letting go of material things and much more. As a person, you grow through travel and learn more about yourself. It’s a wonderful experience to be able to travel and create memories for a lifetime.
3.- Lisanna, you have a wonderful YouTube channel with your boyfriend, “Mateo & Lisanna,” and honestly, it’s hard to know where to start, you’ve been to so many places. How did you come up with the idea of sharing your travel and adventure experiences through a channel, and what rewards has it brought you?
We actually started the channel by talking about Estonia, until at one point Mateo quit his job and I left my first year of university, and we decided to risk everything and try to start traveling. Luckily, everything went well, and now that’s our lifestyle. I’d say that whoever doesn’t take a risk will never know what could have happened. I really love what we do because every day we receive messages from people who are grateful that we visited their countries and cities, that we showed the beauty of these places, or simply that we gave them a smile at the end of the day, since our content has a more adventurous and fun focus, just like us.
4.- Lisanna, I’m curious: what does your name mean?
My name doesn’t mean anything.
5.- Lisanna, would you like to venture into the entertainment industry at some point, whether in television as a TV host, or perhaps the world of acting in film or theater?
Since I’m a more introverted person and I have a small circle, I prefer social media, and maybe for that very reason I love my job so much, because I can express my feelings and show my adventures to a lot of people with just me and the camera (and my boyfriend, of course).
6.- If a couple wanted to spend their honeymoon somewhere in the world, which cities would you recommend on each continent?
In Europe, I would recommend the Amalfi Coast in Italy; in Central America, a resort in Tulum; and in South America, it would be wonderful to spend a honeymoon visiting Machu Picchu.
Really, every continent has so many beautiful places, and it all depends on the couple’s style and what they would like to do, so I would need a whole book to give recommendations, haha.
7.- Lisanna, how do social media help tourists and travelers around the world adapt more quickly to the cities they visit? How important is social media today for getting information about every country?
Today, social media help tourists a lot because all bookings can be made online, finding the best prices, and you can also read what people say, since for us reading recommendations is always the most important thing. On social media we can also find many beautiful places to visit that may not appear in travel agencies’ reports. You can plan every last detail of the trip using social media, getting information on everything from transportation to cultural differences.
8.- What should a tourist always do when arriving in another country? And what should they never do?
First of all, you always have to respect the other culture and try to integrate into it. The best way to do this is by trying the typical foods, talking with locals and sightseeing. One should never disrespect another culture. It’s also not good to fall into tourist traps that try to take advantage of tourists. It’s always a good idea to ask about prices before buying and to check at several places before making the final decision.
9.- What would be your own definition of adventure and tourism?
The balance between typical tourism, learning about the history and tourist sights, and adventure, going into popular places to see the roots of the culture and doing adventure activities.
10.- What motivates you, and why do you feel grateful every day?
I’m motivated by my dream of getting to know the entire world, because ever since I was a child, it was my dream to get to know every country in the world, and in the month I turn 21, I have already visited 24 countries. I’m also motivated, and at the same time made to feel grateful, by the people who support our channel and are always watching our adventures as if they were living everything with us. Without them we couldn’t dedicate ourselves to this, and that’s why I want to thank all the followers who are reading this interview for always being with us. Thank you so much.
11.- Lisanna, you told me privately that you’re not a model, but have you been offered the chance to become one? Could Lisanna be a future Miss Estonia?
Several followers have told me I should be a model. I really like taking pretty photos and posting them on Instagram. In the future, I would like to work with different brands.
12.- Lisanna, how do you see the evolution of the role of women all over the world?
I’m happy to see that women increasingly have more gender equality and freedom, and that they can achieve their dreams and live the life they want. We are very strong and powerful in the sense that no one can stop us. To all the girls who are reading, I want to say that you are loved, you have a lot of potential, and you shouldn’t stop fighting for your dreams. It’s wonderful to see women in, for example, positions of power, as entrepreneurs, programmers and so on.
13.- What would you say to people who think you have to be a millionaire to travel?
That’s not true at all. There are several types of tourism: traveling with comforts, or traveling on a medium or low budget. I feel that by traveling as a backpacker and on a low budget, which is what we often do because we live on the road and have to control how much we spend, you can connect the most with the local culture, since the best prices are where the locals live and eat, not in the tourist areas. We have been able to truly eat the food that people eat and see where they work, live and shop, and what they tell us about their lives – everyday life.

15.- Lisanna, what would you say to parents who don’t support their children’s talent? And what advice would you give to those young people who, having talent and skills, don’t dare to take the next step?
I would raise my children by supporting them in what they like to do, because I don’t think it’s right to influence them to pursue a career that we would like them to choose, since that can lead them to take a turn in their lives that they don’t like. What matters is supporting your children, whether they want to be doctors, painters or singers, etc., because I believe that if you do something with love and passion, it fills your heart, and naturally you want to become a great professional at what you love to do.
