Charlot van Gisbergen – Elite Model Elegance
Charlot van Gisbergen is a promising emerging figure in the entertainment industry. Charlot van Gisbergen is the 1000th guest of Perumira Magazine! Born in the Netherlands, this talented editor has built an impressive career in the television sector. Charlot currently works as a Talent Assistant on “La Casa de los Famosos” (Season 2) with Televisa (Mexico) under the renowned firm Endemol Shine Boomdog, placing her at the heart of the Latin entertainment industry.
With an unwavering passion for communication and entertainment, Charlot has seized every opportunity that has come her way. She also leads her own agency, CVG Producties, where she applies her vast knowledge in television production and editing, while collaborating every now and then with the modelling industry. Her ability to combine these areas has allowed her to shine in a highly competitive market, showcasing her versatility and creativity.
In this interview, Charlot talks about her roots in the Netherlands, her love for the entertainment industry, her experience working for the Latin market, and her journey into modelling. She also shares her thoughts on new technologies, her vision as an editor, and about her plans for the future.
1. – Charlot, thank you so much for agreeing to an interview with us. Let’s start with you. You are from the Netherlands, what do you like most about the city where you were born and grew up? What hobbies did you have as a child?
I feel super grateful to be able to share a bit about my life. I was born in the south of the Netherlands and grew up on a farm in a small village near the Belgian border. It is a peaceful small village, where everyone knew each other—truly a place where “everyone knows everyone.” Perhaps it’s fun to mention that I was far from a typical “girly-girl” as a child. To be honest I was a bit more of a tomboy, always playing outside, riding go-karts, and running around the farm. I even had my own rabbits, which I would place in my go-kart to ride around the yard. We also had a Labrador dog named Lotti, who was my loyal companion during all my childhood adventures.
Back then, I was much quieter and more reserved. In elementary and high school, I found it ‘safer’ to stay more in the background. That started to change when I went off to university and moved out of my parents’ house to Nijmegen. During my college years, I began to find my own voice and dared to express myself more. Now, I’m much more outspoken and confident than I was when I was younger.
2. – What brings a smile or joy to Charlot’s face today?
It’s really the small things in life that bring me the most joy. The spontaneous encounters with people on the street, helping someone out, catching up over a cup of coffee with someone—or waking up here in Mexico City, seeing the sun shine, grabbing a fresh juice in the morning, and taking my roommate’s dog for a walk. However, what brings me the most happiness these days is my relationship. I’ve been single for most of my life (I’m pretty sure due to my adventurous lifestyle and independency, haha), and it’s so special how I met him and how well we complement each other. I’m grateful every day for how things have worked out, and even when we’re apart, he manages to make me smile everyday and I’m excited for the future. His presence has made my life so much richer, and I really cherish that.
3.- Charlot, your great passion is in the Entertainment Industry, you are currently working as a Talent Assistant in ‘La Casa De Los Famosos’ S4 I Telemundo (USA) under Endemol Shine Boomdog. How did you decide to enter the world of communication and entertainment?
I’ve always known that I wanted to work in the entertainment and media industry. When I was younger, I dreamed of performing in musicals, but after a good conversation with my parents, I decided to study to Spanish track of International Business Communication, with my goal in mind: I’ll find my way and create stuff in Latin-America. What has always drawn me in is my love for people and stories. I truly enjoy being able to connect, surprise, and inspire others. The great thing about working in media is that you have to be flexible—no day is the same. Furthermore, there’s a certain magic in studios, and you get the opportunity to dive into a variety of topics. It often feels like you’re stepping into someone else’s life for a moment, and I find that incredibly special.
4.- How did you get this opportunity in ‘La Casa De Los Famosos’ as a Talent Assistant? How do you feel about doing what you love?
I interned at EndemolShine Netherlands, and by the time I was 22, I already knew that I wanted to create shows in Latin America. I knew exactly who was in charge of EndemolShine Latino and managed to get in touch with him through my connections. It may seem like everything went smoothly, but that was far from the case. I had to go through four interviews in Spanish (I was soooo nervous!), followed by a capacity test—not to mention the challenge of arranging my own visa in Barcelona, haha! However, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to see how show production works in a completely different culture and to establish valuable connections here.
5- What do you think about the experience working for the Latin market and especially the Mexican market which is very big?
I find that incredibly interesting. Sometimes people at work ask me, “Why on earth would you come all the way from the Netherlands to work in Mexico?” But I know exactly why I’m here. I wanted to learn about the media industry here. Mexico is the gateway to the American market, far more people still watch linear TV here than in the Netherlands, and the audience you can produce for is much larger. Plus, I absolutely love Latin American culture—I feel completely at home here.
6.- CVG Producties is the Agency that you lead and where you develop all your knowledge and experience in TV Production and Editing, as well as for the Modeling Industry. How do you organize yourself to carry out different productions for companies, were there any obstacles, how did you overcome them?
In essence, I run my own one-person business, and I constantly have to sell myself again and again. I believe it’s important to pursue your own goals and dreams, and freelancing gives me the freedom to do whatever I want. I can work extremely hard, but if I want to travel for two months between projects, I want the freedom to do that as well. I don’t like being limited. Honestly, I’ve never really faced big obstacles. I’ve always been selective with my choices, and if there wasn’t an interesting program to work on, I would pick up shifts as a hostess or in hospitality. That has always been my plan B! But I love networking and meeting new people, and that has always helped me so far.
7.- As an Editor and Producer you see that Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a tool, but that it rubs shoulders with us in every job. What do you think about the advance of new technologies and social networks in relation to the artistic world and the entertainment industry?
I think we should embrace AI and especially integrate it into the creation of things. AI is here to make our lives easier, so we should definitely start applying it. The advancement of new technologies and social media offers a huge opportunities for the artistic world and the entertainment industry. It allows us to work more efficiently, push creative boundaries, and discover new forms of interaction with our audience. By using AI and technology in a smart way, we can create to a higher level. Some of the AI software I already use on a daily basis are: ChatGPT, Canva, Descript, Captions and OpusClips.
8.- Charlot, being the Netherlands the cradle of beautiful women, I read that you are also a model. How did you get into the world of fashion and catwalks, have you always liked it, are you extroverted?
Yes, I would say I’m quite an extrovert. I love being active, I get energized by people, and my mind is constantly running. People used to ask me if I wanted to become a model, but my focus was always more on the media industry. When I was 27, I got scouted for the TV show ‘Wishing On A Star’, where they were looking for a new all-around model. From that moment, I thought: ‘Well, maybe it would be fun to do some modeling on the side!’. So, I signed up with a few agencies, and soon Miss Europe Continental came my way, where I finished in the 6th place.
9- What is the hallmark of Charlot, in every activity you do?
I approach everything with 200% positivity, energy, and enthusiasm. I always strive to learn from others. For me, it’s important to inspire, enthuse, connect, and foster more empathy in this world. I believe that through connection and understanding, we can make a more positive impact.
10- What has motivated you every day?
That’s a really good question! I don’t really know exactly what drives me. It’s more that I always follow my instincts and I’m not afraid to make certain choices. For me, the glass is always half full (Dutch saying!). What drives me is perhaps the realization that there is so much to do and experience in this world. I want to make the most out of life so that I have no regrets when I’m an old granny!
11- Are you aware that your work, experience, trajectory make you every day an Influencer in your sector, an authoritative voice and an example for thousands of kids who want to reach and do things like you, participating in television productions? How do you take this responsibility?
I believe that everyone in this world carries a certain level of responsibility, not just me because I happen to work in the media. What I do want to be conscious of is that the things I create are ethically justifiable to a certain extent. As a creator, you do have a responsibility in that regard. Furthermore, I hope to inspire others. If people want to do what I do, or are looking for specific contacts, I am more than happy to help them along the way. The idea that I can be a role model for others motivates me to continue doing my work with integrity and passion.
12.- Which social media are your favourite, where can we find you?
On Instagram! I find that the social media landscape has become so complicated. You get caught up in all the social media apps, and there are always more coming. We can use our time so much better! That’s why I primarily focus on Instagram and LinkedIn and hope to do more with my YouTube channel in the future. On my YouTube channel, I want to create content mainly about travel, adventure, and unique interviews. The goal is to share valuable and inspiring stories that can help other people.
13.- Charlot, what would you say to parents who don’t support their children’s talent? And what would you say to the young people who have the talent and the skills, but are discouraged and don’t dare to take the next step?
I would say: “Stay true to your feelings!” Even if you want to do something artistic or creative, just go for it. If you enjoy doing something, you will naturally become good at it because it comes easily to you. In today’s world, you can easily reskill in another field or earn an extra income online. When I was younger, I wanted to do something with dancing, singing, or acting, but I ended up studying International Business Communication. Do I regret it? No, because I had an amazing student life. I was part of the women’s fraternity F.I.E.R.A. and made the most out of my university experience. On the other hand, I’m also curious about what would have happened if I had pursued singing, dancing, and acting. Fortunately, I’m someone who doesn’t let anything stop me, so maybe one day I’ll take up a part-time acting study. But for now, I want to focus on creating programs in Latin America!
14. – Charlot, what places do you recommend to visit in the Netherlands, your native country? What other countries do you know and/or would you like to visit?
I lived in Amsterdam for six years, and to be honest, I find Amsterdam a bit overrated. In terms of cities, I would recommend Rotterdam (port city), Deventer (one of the oldest cities), and Nijmegen (student city). Additionally, I would suggest going for a boat ride, for example, at the Loosdrechtse Plassen, and visiting the tulip fields in Keukenhof. I would especially recommend coming to the Netherlands in the summer and attending a good festival, like Wish Outdoor or Intents Festival!
I have mainly traveled in Europe and Latin America. I did my exchange program as a student in Santiago de Chile and also traveled to Argentina, Peru, and Bolivia at that time. Countries that are still high on my wishlist include Colombia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Japan, Thailand, Nepal, and New Zealand. Fortunately, I still have plenty of time to visit them ;).
15. – Before the Ping Pong, tell me what are those next steps or pending tasks of Charlot in the medium-long term? What goals would you like to accomplish or go accomplishing at each stage of your life?
What a lovely question! At the end of this year, I will be participating in Mrs European Nations in Athens, Greece, and I hope to take part in Mrs Globe in China next year. I also want to finish my documentary about the Lacandon Maya’s in Chiapas. Next year, I want to focus more on the Netherlands. Additionally, I would love to give Miss Universe Netherlands a shot and do some more modeling work next year. I also think it would be exciting to study something artistic someday, and I aim to pursue a second Master’s in Virtual & Media Anthropology in the future. In a few years, I would love to get married in a beautiful location, start a family, keep everyone healthy, and, if possible, travel the world with my family. Live happily ever after…
