1.- Yana, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. What do you like about your hometown?
I was born in a small town in Tatarstan, where winter seems to linger for nine months a year. But I truly consider Sochi, Russia, my hometown, as I’ve spent most of my life there. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful city with its warm climate and diverse culture. I jokingly refer to it as the “Miami of Russia.” What I love most about Sochi is its vibrant food scene, influenced by the many cultures that have left their mark here. The city has also hosted major international events, like the F1, FIFA World Cup, and Winter Olympics, which adds to its dynamic nature. Sochi will always hold a special place in my heart.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
I’ve always been captivated by fashion, but beyond that, I’m a lifelong learner. I graduated from music school with a focus on singing, dabbled in journalism, worked as a nanny and cook, and now I’m finishing my degree in finance. What truly brings me joy is learning something new, especially when it involves collaboration. Whether it’s from people, books, or experiences, I’m always seeking ways to grow and understand more about life. Self-discovery and communication are areas I constantly strive to improve in, and that’s where I find my happiness.
3.-International Model, Miss New York World 2024. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
This New York Fashion Week marked one year since a friend of mine literally dragged me to my first casting. At the time, I was weighed down by self-doubt and limiting beliefs, and honestly, the only reason I went was that I had no other plans that day. Fast forward to now, and I can’t imagine my life without this path. Modeling has transformed my confidence, and I’ve learned to trust myself, even when English isn’t my first language. Ms. World was my first pageant, and it has opened up so many doors. I’m excited for the future and eager to compete in more pageants.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Yana in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
I believe that my energy and attitude set me apart. I like to ensure that people enjoy themselves when they work with me. Whether it’s a shoot or a runway show, I bring a sense of ease and fun to the experience.
5.- What’s is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?
Resilience is essential. The fashion industry can be incredibly demanding and competitive, but having the inner strength to keep going, regardless of setbacks, is what will set you apart. Another important quality is adaptability. The ability to quickly adjust to new situations, looks, and environments is crucial in this line of work.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
I am truly honored to be in a position where I can inspire other young women. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly. For me, it’s incredibly important to show that beauty comes in many forms, and success comes from determination, hard work, and believing in yourself, even when others doubt you. I want to be an example that dreams can come true when you chase them relentlessly.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
The first time in front of a camera, I was honestly terrified. There were moments where I froze, unsure of how to pose or express myself. Confidence, I learned, doesn’t come overnight. It’s something you build with practice and repetition. The pageant, on the other hand, felt much easier. It allowed me to showcase not just my looks, but also my personality, values, and what I stand for, beyond just the beautiful dresses and bikinis. By then, I had more experience, so I felt much more comfortable and confident.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
Social media is incredibly powerful; it has the ability to shape opinions, connect people from across the globe, and open up opportunities that didn’t exist a decade ago. It’s a tool that, when used correctly, can amplify voices and messages that deserve to be heard. However, with great power comes responsibility. We must remember to use social media for positive influence and not let it define our worth.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? What’s your favorite social media?
I love engaging with my followers in an authentic and personal way. Whether through comments, direct messages, or live chats, I aim to make them feel seen and heard. My favorite platform is Instagram, because it allows me to express myself visually while also sharing meaningful captions and thoughts. It’s an amazing space for creativity and connection.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
To the young people: If you have talent, don’t let fear of failure hold you back. The first step is always the hardest, but it’s also the most important. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by pursuing your passions. To the parents: Support your children even if you don’t fully understand their dreams. I faced a lot of skepticism from my own parents when I pursued modeling, but once they saw my success, they began to believe in me. Sometimes, it’s about showing them through your actions, not just your words.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
I’ve learned that perseverance and kindness go a long way. Modeling isn’t as glamorous as it may seem, and there are plenty of behind-the-scenes challenges like exhaustion, blisters from heels, and endless hours. But being kind to everyone you meet, regardless of their role, is crucial because you never know who might open the next door for you.
12.- Yana, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned that the biggest obstacle is often our own mindset. I’ve faced physical challenges, like dealing with uncomfortable shoes or exhaustion, but I’ve also dealt with mental hurdles, like self-doubt. The key is to keep pushing forward and to always come prepared—whether that means packing band-aids for blisters, protein bars for long days, or simply believing in yourself.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
Yes, I definitely see myself stepping into acting. I had a small role in a comedy movie when I was 17, and I absolutely loved the experience. Acting allows you to express yourself in ways that modeling sometimes can’t, and I find it incredibly liberating. I’d love to explore more roles and see where that path takes me.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I believe the future is bright for women, even in societies where they are still fighting for equality. Women are resilient and capable of enacting change, and with the continued global push for women’s rights, I’m hopeful that we’ll see progress in these areas. Education and awareness are key, and as more women take on leadership roles, the possibilities for positive change will only grow.
15.- Yana, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
My biggest motivation comes from my family. They support me in everything I do, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. Every day, I wake up feeling blessed to have the opportunities I’ve had and the people who have believed in me along the way.
16.- Yana, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know, and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I absolutely love to travel. So far, I’ve been lucky enough to visit several countries across Europe, Asia, and cities across the U.S. I’d love to explore more of South America and Africa, especially Brazil and South Africa. As for Russia, I highly recommend visiting Sochi for its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture. Moscow and St. Petersburg are also must-sees for their rich history and architecture.
