Tahlea Flecken-Cassidy @tahlea.pageantlife

In this special edition of Perumira Magazine, we are honored to spotlight the inspiring journey of Tahlea Flecken-Cassidy, one of the standout Prestige Pageants Australia National Finalists 2025. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Melbourne, Victoria, Tahlea carries with her the creative spirit, cultural richness, and dynamic energy that define her hometown. Melbourne’s unique blend of art, fashion, sports, hidden gems, and warm community life shaped the foundation of who she is today—a woman who thrives on authenticity, curiosity, and passion.

Tahlea’s world has always been filled with movement, creativity, and exploration. Whether she’s playing women’s basketball, surfing, snowboarding, painting, walking along the coast, discovering new cafés, or enjoying a quiet moment with her cat, her life reflects a balance between adventure and tenderness. Modeling, pageantry, and artistic expression have all become essential outlets for her individuality.

Her path toward the spotlight began at a young age, with early modeling experiences that sparked a dream she never let go of. Years later, after rediscovering her passion at 16 and drawing inspiration from international beauty queens like Misha Grimes, Tahlea took a leap into the world of pageantry. Her first major milestone—becoming a Victorian National Finalist for Miss Galaxy Australia 2023—opened the door to a transformative experience surrounded by empowered, supportive women.

Today, as a finalist for Prestige Pageants Australia, Tahlea embraces a system built on legacy, purpose, sisterhood, and impact. Achieving her dreams and becoming a positive influencer for her community fills her with profound joy. Through workshops, social media, and meaningful connections, she uses her voice to uplift others, proving that true influence goes beyond a crown—it creates change, unity, and inspiration.

1.- Tahlea, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. What do you like about your hometown?

I was born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria. A state that thrives from the creativity of our people who live here. There is such a diverse variety of art, sports and fashion that fills the atmosphere of Melbourne, it feels very homie.

What i like most about Melbourne is that no matter where you travel too you will find something unexpected. Hidden restaurants and cafes, carnival events, grand openings, art shows, musicians or performers. The people are lovely, the celebrations are grand and the food is delicious.

2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?

I have a lot of hobbies and each one brings me joy in different ways.

  • I play in Women’s Basketball twice a week
  • I like to be creative and make something unique to me
  • I like searching for new pieces to elevate my wardrobe
  • I like to go for long walks
  • Love going to the beach to surf or boogie board
  • I like to snowboard in the winter
  • I enjoy photoshoots and the creativity that comes with each shoot
  • Finding new restaurants and cafes with my friends
  • Having a chill day with my cat brings me a lot of happiness
  • Reading
  • Painting
  • Pageantry

3.- Prestige Pageants Australia National Finalist 2025. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?

I’ve wanted to model since I was a child, around 9yrs old I believe. I had a few gigs as a child with “Kmart” and “Toys’R’Us” but sadly they were never aired. I picked up modelling again when I was 16yrs old for school projects and knew I wanted to continue down this path. It’s been a slow process but I love every opportunity that presents itself to me. I never thought about beauty pageants until I was watching “Miss Galaxy 2018” drawn to watch England’s winner Misha Grimes take home the title internationally. She was so confident and goofy while staying graceful and elegant. I was so intrigued and curious, I began watching pageants more and more until I decided to try putting in my application. Unfortunately, with covid I had to wait a few extra years but when the time came I did it. To my surprise I was accepted and became a Victorian National finalist for “Miss Galaxy Australia 2023”. It made me extremely nervous and uncomfortable because its very different to modelling and I hadn’t done a pageant before but once I got there it was truly magical. I was surrounded by beautiful women who were inspiring and from all walks of life. Everyone wanted to support each other and create beautiful content while we went through all kinds of empowering workshops. Was genuinely such a wonderful experience and I made friends for life that I’m still very close with today.

Come 2024, our lovely directors created “Prestige Pageants Australia” I met both of them back in 2023 and when I saw they had created a new pageant system that stems around creating a legacy beyond the stage. I couldn’t resist and applied the same day. I was absolutely filled with joy when I got accepted and became a Victorian national finalist to compete for the title of “Miss Face Of Humanity Australia”.

The feeling of achieving my dreams is out of this world and I feel so blessed that I get to compete for a title that emphasises sisterhood, action and purpose. To create a platform unique to each of us and that can truly make a difference makes me so happy!

To be a recognised women that has the platform to influence is a dream come true. I’ve made so many connections and been able to take the time to educate, inspire and guide my fellow sash sisters and community. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that I am reaching all kinds of people and am able to bring them together through my workshops and social media.

4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Tahlea in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?

I would say my unique stamp is that I’m quite unexpected and I like to do things a little bit differently to my fellow sash sisters. Such as my charity: I decided I wanted to choose a charity that was bigger than me and any of my experiences but what would impact all the people I know, my loved ones and community. I chose “Save The Bees Australia” a charity dedicated to supporting and protecting the pollinators that allow human kind to thrive.

People who meet me tend to refer to me as “Sunshine” because I’m a very positive, bubbly and smiley person. I like to make everyone feel included and seen. I’m very understanding and curious, and I like to learn from others to beable to expand my awareness especially around cultural respectfulness.

I would say I leave a positive impact wherever I go with a friendly smile and kind character.

5.- What is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an international model?

I haven’t been international for modelling but I would say the main virtue any women must have would have to be:

  • To be adaptable to any situation, it shows you can take on any kind of pressure, stage layout, person you face.
  • Self-promoting is important because nobody else will promote you better then yourself
  • Have a unique style to you that makes you stand out, you don’t want to be like everyone else or you’ll get lost in the crowd.
  • Add your opinion with what you’ll be doing, it wont always be excepted but you never know what will have a positive outcome.

6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?

Yes, I am aware that I am being watched and could potentially impact thousands of girls around the world. I think it’s important that whenever you do something online and in the spot light especially on social media, to be aware that my actions could impact young girls and other women. I believe staying true to yourself and doing your best is the best way to go about influencing. Its important to me to be an idol for young girl and teenagers because I was in their shoes a few years ago and I know how hard it can be. To have someone to look up to is always special because it helps mould the type of person you want to be and can influence beautiful actions, pathways and character. Teaching what I’ve learned to help the next generation avoid mistakes or decisions I’ve made that haven’t worked for me.

7.- What was your feeling the first time you modelled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?

The first time I was in front of a camera it wasn’t as frightening as I expected because growing up my parents filmed us and took photos a lot for our family home movies. Yes, a lot more lay back and natural content but still a camera. However, getting in front of a professional camera was intimidating to be perfect in a certain way. You had to move and smile and be aware of every angle your body and face was doing but once you get into it, it becomes easier. I recommend practising to become more aware of your body movements and facial features. Doing practise shoots for experience and building confidence.

Same goes for pageantry the more you practise the more confident you will be. my first time I entered a pageant I didn’t practise a lot and I was nervous and clumsy but I still had a lot of fun and was glad I entered at the end of the week. Proud of myself for stepping into something new but do wish I practised more.

8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?

I think the power of social media can truly make or break you. To use it just for fun is always going to keep things light hearted with no pressure but once you start to bringing in the views and become recognised, I believe it’s important to stay true to yourself because being branded something you’re not, is hard to break from. The internet is forever. Digital foot print is a real thing and will always be there.

Social media can be used for the power of good or it can used in a negative way. To keep it positive I recommend unfollowing anything or anyone who doesn’t inspire you to be the best version of yourself, unfollow what doesn’t make you feel good about yourself, especially if you’re a girl. Social media can become very toxic towards self-worth and how we view ourselves entirely, don’t follow people who make you feel bad about yourself. Follow people who advocate for self-worth and character. Fun and positivity is the best way to boost your day as well. It keeps social media a little bit healthier for those on it for hours a day.

9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? What’s your favourite social media?

I like to interact with my followers by sharing my fun facts and creating polls and voting systems. It’s important to me to stay connected with my followers and include them in what I’m doing. To have them engage makes the connection feel stronger and valued.

My favourite social media is Instagram because it is easy to use, allows opportunity to connect with new people and is a space for you to share your life in a fun way. I love that music can be added to create a vibe of each post too.

10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?

I would advise that you should step out of your comfort zone and give it a go. You never know what you can achieve if you don’t try, the possibilities are endless and if you don’t get where you want at first that doesn’t mean you aren’t talented. It means that you aren’t in the right place. Find where you are valued and plant your seed for you to blossom.

Its always scary at first but once you begin you will be swept up in the moment. Don’t not follow your dreams because of fear! You’ll grow up and always wonder “what if”. It’s better to fail now and keep trying, then to never try at all. Fail 99 times and succeed on the 100th time. Success comes from hard work and stepping out from the crowd into the light.

To parents who do not support their kids, I think that’s very sad because your child could become something extraordinary but you wouldn’t know because you have stepped in their way. Don’t be the reason they can’t follow their dreams; be the reason they have succeeded and can turn about blessed to have such a supportive parent. Be the safety net they need and the person to inspire and motivate them to keep going even when things become hard. Take a chance on your child and lift them up because nobody else is going to cheer louder then you will. The world can be cruel and social media can be a toxic place; they don’t need more negativity from their guardian as well. Be that positive light that makes them want to get up and work harder each day to achieve there dreams.

11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?

  • Lessons I’ve learnt from the world of fashion is to not just follow trends; you will lose all sense of personal style and just look like everyone else.
  • Try something new and find your own unique style, play with colours and
  • Always dress to your body type and Doing this will make you glow!
  • And beauty pageants have taught me the same as well as staying true to Don’t doubt what you’re doing because someone else might appear to be doing better.
  • We all have our own story to tell and pathways to make, trying to copy someone else will only make you fail.
  • They have helped me stop and search inside for who I am and helped discover my own worth.
  • Taught me that following my passions can open so many doors for me and has lead me to building up a platform I am very passionate about and proud of.
  • Creating a style all my own

And so much more, these environments can be very competitive but there are always positive people who want to help you be the best version of yourself.

12.- Tahlea, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?

Being a model has had lots of ups and downs, I’ve been turned away a number of times because of my height specifically but l kept trying until I found spaces where I was valued and could grow as a person. I’ve done lots of portfolio shoots to keep my folio very open to creativity and also staying true to a classic portfolio.

Some companies appreciate something different and others prefer a classic portfolio. It truly depends of what the brands are after as to whether you succeed or need to keep moving forward.

13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?

As a child, yes absolutely I did and was in choir, bands, drama clubs and productions but as an adult I don’t believe it is a field for me and doesn’t interest me at this point in time professionally.

I love the entertainment industry. Movies, musicals, productions, music festivals and musicians are all wonderful and very intriguing. We have some very talented people out there!

14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?

It’s truly gut wrenching to knowing women still are abused and made to feel less then for simply being female. I truly believe the role of women in the future, especially in societies where they still face abuse or discrimination, will continue to grow stronger.

Even though many women today endure injustice, their resilience, courage, and determination are transforming their communities from the inside out.

As education expands and more women speak out, the world becomes increasingly more connected, it becomes harder for oppressive systems to silence them. I imagine a future where women are not only protected and respected but are leaders, decision- makers, and creators of change.

Progress may be slow in some places, but every step forward from every girl who goes to school, every woman who gains economic independence, every voice that refuses to be silenced pushes society toward justice.

The future role of women, I believe will be defined not just by struggle, but by empowerment, equality, and the courage to claim the dignity they have always deserved.

15.- Tahlea, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?

My motivation is that I’ve never liked to be ordinary, I’ve always done things my own way and stayed true to myself no matter who agreed or disagreed with my choice of pathway. To forever be one of a kind and not the same as anyone else is my motivation to get up everyday and go make a difference. Some days will be unsuccessful but other days will make waves of change for me to achieve my dreams!

Every day I feel grateful to still be here, to beable to jump and run and play sports. To beable to have opportunities to go after my dreams and for a family that loves me and supports my journey, especially with all my pageant preparations for “Prestige Pageants Australia”

I feel very blessed and grateful.

16.- Tahlea, do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?

Yes, I love to travel and absorb every experience by being present in the moment. There is so much out there to see i can’t wait for where ever i may go next.

I’ve been to America 4-5 times, visiting a new state each time I have visited with my family. I’ve visited Canada, Mexico, Jamacia and the Bahamas by cruise ship. And I’ve been to New Zealand 2 times. All wonderful trips with my family.

I would love to experience Europe, United Kingdom and all the small countries around those continents such as: London, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Greece and Morocco. Just to name a few.

In Australia I highly recommend visiting each state, whether that is in one trip or multiple. Australia is so beautiful and each state has something really special about them. But if i had to pick one i would say Melbourne or Queensland. They are where you will find a classic Australian experience; Surfing, Beaches, Theme Parks and Fashion Culture at its finest! They are my favourites to visit back and forth each year. The people and atmosphere are always thriving, with music playing everywhere.

I’d recommend driving down the “Great Ocean Road” in Melbourne too and visiting “The Great Barrier Reef” in Queensland. Truly a sight worth seeing. They are both a wonderful Aussie experiences.

18.- Tahlea, your last words or final tips

Get up and make each day something wonderful even if that means doing something small that you enjoy or go spend a whole day discovering something new. Take a class or teach yourself something you’ve always wanted to try; explore somewhere you haven’t been and go book that trip you’ve been putting off. The time is now and there is so much to see and do, don’t miss out from fear of rejection. Take a chance on yourself because you are all you have forever!

The world is waiting for each of us to grab hold and create something unbelievably wonderful.
