1.- Brienneke , tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I was born in Tiel, but I don’t really know anything about Tiel. I was only born here. Anyway, I have moved around a lot in my life, but when I refer to the place where I grew up the most as a person and really felt at home, I mean Schijndel, in North Brabant, where I lived with my grandmother. Then we are talking about Schijndel in North Brabant, where I lived with my grandmother. I enjoyed that time enormously, together with my grandmother and all the dear friends I made there and the beautiful memories and lessons, of course.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
In that sense, I think I’m quite special, I like games a lot anyway. I love simple games, like The Sims, but also games that are mainly played by men, like F1 and Assasins Creed. I can get totally lost in them with my friends.
My other hobby is mostly being creative, suddenly one day I decide that my living room wall needs a different colour, so I get to work and start doing it myself.
3.-International Model, Miss Voluptuous Holland 2025 . When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I started Miss Curve Netherlands in 2023, I saw it happen on social media at the time and as a plus size woman I thought: ‘I’ll take a chance’. I discovered that I really enjoy embracing my femininity, and all the girls you meet along the way make it fun. Between them there will be friends for life.
As for modelling, my parents loved to take lots of pictures of us. It was only when I participated in Miss Curve that we had a ‘fun shoot’ where we could choose what we wanted to do. I did a boudoir shoot, which was quite daring, but here I discovered that I really enjoy being in front of the camera and playing with facial expressions.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Brienneke in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
For me, it’s very important to radiate that you can be yourself in every way. I also like to post photos on Instagram without make-up, without too much fuss, but ‘just Brienneke’. Of course, I also have photos where I’m completely dressed up, but this is also a side of me. I am also very open about being a lesbian, I regularly post things with my fiancé, and that together as 2 women we can also welcome a baby in March. For my statement on Miss Voloptuous, I also have a podcast @Queerlyspeaking, where I interview people from the Queer community to create more openness.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
For me, I think this is, to be authentic and open. Not everything has to be perfect, above all being yourself is the most important thing, nobody is perfect and you don’t have to be perfect at all.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
I don’t feel that way, but I try to work on it, to sketch something more than the perfect photo. You often see on social media ‘the perfect picture’, which used to make me feel very insecure, so it’s important for me to show that not everyone is always perfect.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
I felt very confident, I felt a strength coming up inside me that I didn’t know I had. It was a fantastic feeling, and working for LGBTQIA+ rights made me feel like I could make a difference.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
The power of social media has two sides that we all know: it can make you feel very insecure, but fortunately it can also bring a lot of nice things. You can develop friendships, you can connect with like-minded people about things and connect on this.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
Instagram is really my favourite, I especially like it when my followers feel free to message me, I regularly post things about gay rights and recently I also posted something about our pregnancy journey which was a very vulnerable post to share. Here several girls sent me a message about what they encountered, so I feel like I’m really making a difference, and I love that!
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
I have always been taught by my parents and what I really want to pass on to everyone is: ‘Be the best you can be’. Be yourself, do the things you love, even the things that sometimes scare you, because they are often the things that bring you the best stories and memories.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
That if you stand up for what you think is important you can really make a difference, I used to always think ‘then I’m the only one who does it won’t make a difference’ and how wrong I was about that. If you make a real effort, you can make a difference, even if it’s just for one person.
12.- Brienneke , being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
I think, unfortunately, the modelling world will always continue to have an opinion against plus-size women, so facing this stigma is still a victory. Other than that, I always think we have to go for it and see where we end up.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
No, I’ve never really thought about it, I think I really enjoy it as a hobby. In fact, I now work in psychiatric care, so this is really where my heart is. Giving people who sometimes have a hard time at the end of the day a nice day despite everything, I couldn’t miss that.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I find it incredibly sad, I believe that your ability and knowledge does not depend on your gender, orientation or skin colour.
15.- Brienneke , what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
I am grateful every day to be able to be myself. There is nothing as liberating as being able to be how you feel inside.
16.- Brienneke , Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I find travelling super fun both at home and abroad, I’m mainly in Germany, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia and Turkey.
Where I would really still love to go is to all the big Disney theme parks, I love adrenaline and rollercoasters, but also definitely Disney. I think this is my biggest dream when it comes to travelling.
And in the Netherlands, people often think of Amsterdam, to me it has always seemed a very nice city, but very crowded. As a Limburg (a province of the Netherlands), I love Maastricht, a city with beautiful architecture and a lot of atmosphere.
