1.- Daniella, tell me about the city where you were born and raised. ,What do you like about your hometown?
I was born in Stockholm, but since I was 1 year old Oskarshamn has been my hometown. I currently live in Växjö, about 2 hours drive from Oskarshamn, but Oskarshamn has a special place in my heart. It’s located by the ocean and I have so many memories from when I was young paddling canoe along the shore, swimming and watching the sunset.
2.- What are your hobbies? what makes you laugh a lot or gives you joy?
I would say that I have a quite weird hobby. I love organizing, like lists or my closet. I also love creating art, DIY or publishing on social media. When I can be creative is when I am happy.
3.-International Model, Miss Planet International Sweden 2024 – Miss World Sweden 2019. When did you decide to take your first steps as a model and beauty pageants? What feeling do you have achieving your dreams, your passions and being a recognized influencer woman today?
I stumbled on a casting for a model competition named Greta G when I was 17 and placed 3rd. From there I went on to having 2 model agencies in Sweden and the makeup artist from the competition asked me “Why don’t you apply for Miss Universe Sweden?”. So I applied and was placed 1 runner up 2017. After that I have been to 5 international pageants, including Miss World. I love beauty pageants because I have never felt judged on my looks and I can be myself. Pageants is a beautiful society where you meet friends for life and you experience new countries and cultures.
I have a hard time seeing myself as a role model or someone to look up to, since in Sweden pageant is not as big or glorious as it is in other countries. It’s quite surreal being one in the crowd at home and then going on representing my country abroad on a big stage. I feel like I have achieved my dream by being a part of such a fine pageant as Miss Planet International where I can share my cause and also show Sweden what a beautiful platform pageantry is and what we can do together.
4.- What do you think is the distinctive, unique stamp of Daniella in each activity carried out as a beauty queen and model?
I always try to stay humble. I come from a background where I started my pageant career shopping dresses second hand and having my father sew my dresses and national costumes. I try to do as much as I can on my own. This is because I have a lot of passion for pageantry and I want that to shine through. I don’t only want to do a good performance, I want the performance to me as much ME as it can be. Personal and all about passion.
5.- Whats is the main virtue that any woman must have to be an internacional model?
I would say that you should have compassion and be able to connect with people. It’s also important to have good morals and character but when you can connect with others you become a better version of yourself and you can learn from others.
6.- Are you aware of being an influential woman for thousands of girls who want to be models? How important is it to you to be an idol for many girls and teenagers?
As a young girl I was quite insecure about my looks. I was really tall at an early age and I was bullied for it. Quite early I stopped trying to fit in to make friends and I would rather have few but true friends. I often felt lonely and I strive today to be the role model that I needed then. Someone to show young girls and boys that you should not try to be someone else to be loved and you do not have to fit in.
7.- What was your feeling the first time you modeled in front of a video camera? What did you feel the first time at a beauty pageant?
The first time in front of a camera I was unsure of myself and if I really had what it takes, but I had really fun with it. It was the same thing with my first pageant, I was not sure of my own capacity but I saw it as a learning experience. I was mesmerized by how much fun it was and how creative I could be. I loved the feeling of creating something beautiful in front of the camera and to walk a pageant stage with my country over my chest.
8.- What do you think about the power of social media today?
I think that social media is a great platform for expressing thoughts, creativity and talent. It is an opportunity to stay connected with others but in worst case it can also be toxic. Many young people see edited pictures and feel bad about themselves, and even I can compare myself to others in an unhealthy way sometimes. I think that we all as individuals are obligated to think before we post about the impact it can have on others. If we all do that and take our responsibility, social media can be something great.
9.- How do you like to interact with your followers on social media? Whats your favorite social media?
I prefer to use Instagram. This is the platform that I use the most and I like the way that people often leave nice comments and supports each other.
10.- What would you advise young people who have talent but do not dare to take the next step? What would you advise parents who do not support their children’s talents?
I would tell them that life’s too short to have doubts. That you should not take life too seriously and if it doesn’t hurt you in any way you should take chances. Reach out to people who are where you dream to be for advice. Study your dream and work in small steps to reach it.
I think that many parents hold their child back because they don’t want them to face defeat. And often this may be rooted in their own fear of failure. Sometimes you have to try your wings, even if you may fall. If you never let them try, they will never learn what they really can do and what they are capable of. I don’t think you should be scared of losing, you should be more scared of not trying.
11.- What important lessons have you learned from the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
I’ve learned that if you do not feel good enough or at your best, you are dealing with the wrong crowd. There will always be people who have opinions, who talk down on you or judge you. These are not your people and their opinions don’t reflect who you are. If someone doesn’t see your value, someone else will. It took me time to remove my self worth from other people’s opinion, but that is the most important thing you can do. When you find your place and your people, you will thrive.
12.- Daniella, being a model for you has been easy? Were there obstacles? How did you overcome obstacles?
I’ve had many good experiences but also some less good experiences. Within the model industry they can have really high standards on your weight and your measurements. When the requirements got too hard I chose to not continue within modeling. Here I would say there is a big difference between modeling and pageants. Within pageants I have never gotten any bad comments about my body. Because of pageants, my self esteem has grown. I overcame those obstacles by knowing my self worth and only put myself in a place where I feel good about myself.
13.- Have you thought about being an actress? Do you like the entertainment industry?
I have absolutely thought about it, but have never tried it. I would love to try it, but I think that it is extremely hard. I think that the entertainment industry is really interesting and I admire people that work within it.
14.- Worldwide, women have acquired a greater role even though there are societies where they are still abused. What is your opinion of the role of women in the future in these societies?
I truly hope that these societies one day will value their women and that there will be equality. It’s hard to even comprehend this struggle coming from a country that has come far within equality, that not all women have the same rights as me. I really hope there will be a change soon.
15.- Daniella, what is your motivation and what do you feel grateful for every day?
To always live life to the fullest. I am truly thankful for what my family has done for me that made me able to live my dream. I am also thankful for all the challenges that I’ve faced that have made me stronger and more confident.
16.- Daniella, Do you like to travel? What countries do you know? What other countries would you like to know and which places do you recommend to visit from your country?
I love traveling! I’ve been to 17 countries, Cambodia will be my 18th. I dream of visiting Japan and Australia, but I would love to travel all over the world.
Sweden is beautiful, especially in the summer. I would highly recommend going to Gotland, our biggest island. I’ve been there many times and my favorite time to go there is in the medieval week.
